Screw New Years! Life changes begin with spring!
suzy, that sounds positively vile/fascinating
I can't quite get to goofy/happy (because I really have no job yet, although I'm on the sub school nurse list here now) - but my kids definitely are. J took a lawn chair down the street yesterday and sat dangling her feet into the giant puddle that was there. Must have been cold, but she was having a great time.

Dudes tonight I spent several hours chilling w/12 six week old puppies. Then I came home and watched my big fella frolic w/his best puppy friend while talking about movies and drinking beers. I am emotionally invincible at this point.
So yah, sad times, you can suck it as I am partying and it is awesome.

I had such a fun weekend of not doing much/hanging out with A. and the kids. A. grilled burgers & brats and I ate too much, and I made a rhubarb cream cake and also ate too much. Slept in all three days. So great!

that sounds like my dream cake.
― estela, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 03:11 (thirteen years ago) link
Okay, this is the EASIEST cake in the world to make:
Rhubarb Cream Cake
1 yellow cake mix4 cups sliced rhubarb (I use more)1 c. sugar1 c. heavy cream
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare cake mix as directed on box. Put in greased 13X9 pan. Sprinkle rhubarb on top, then sprinkle on sugar. Slowly pour the cream over the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
My friend Lynn gave me the recipe. I did use maybe 5 cups of rhubarb (just picked it out of the garden FINALLY). The cream on top part sort of gives it a moist/custardy texture. It makes a LOT & it is pretty rich, so it would probably be a good idea to refrigerate it after it cools. Vanilla ice cream would go well with it if you have any lying about.
That's it!
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 04:47 (thirteen years ago) link
It's kind of surprising how cake mixes can turn into something great when you throw a few non-cake mix ingredients onto them.
