I forgot I'm hosting a party this saturday and the house is a holy filthy mess. I hope I don't have a ton of work to do this weekend.

I'm going to implode.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 14:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Now would be the time for that tea methinks!

Parties are easy, let Mr Mis be host, you can hide out by cooler and build up to making your way inside greeting by greeting. You'll meet everyone and have an easy topic to start talking about (beerzlol or winelol) which will make you feel more comfortable.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 14:50 (sixteen years ago) link

What's the occasion, Ms Mis?

Michael White, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 14:58 (sixteen years ago) link

wine of both colours, crackers and pate, reasonably clean house, lots of seating, and a bit of quiet music.

party sorted.

darraghmac, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Don't forget: midgets carrying salvers of cocaine

kv_nol, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Michael White, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:24 (sixteen years ago) link

cut to the catholic s£x thread, then.

darraghmac, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:25 (sixteen years ago) link

It's all about the details... (xpost)

HAH! It is the Potter Party I fretted over a few weeks ago. It was cancelled at the last minute as one of us fell dreadfully ill. I am making a treacle tart and some other goodies, must clean as everything's gone to sh*t while I've been so busy, restock alcohol (all previously bought likker has been imbibed) and decorate.

argggh work1

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:33 (sixteen years ago) link

lots of snogging and grumbling about adults then

darraghmac, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 15:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Pals!

I am off for some days in Hamsterjam. Have a lovely time at the wedding, Kev-lol! Have a great party, Ms. M.

Everyone else, as you were.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Have fun! Eat some brownies for us!

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:20 (sixteen years ago) link

A Potter party sounds like fun - hope it's great, Sam!

luna, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Have fun Accentmonkey, Mr Monkey, Rock and DV. Enjoy!

I'll do my best to match the festivities in Italy.

Hope party goes well Ms Mis.

The rest of you: behave.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Michael White, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Whee, back from the city! Surmounter, I'm so glad you enjoyed the salsa! I looked for you after the show but I was in a bit of a daze and had no idea where to look. Such an intense play, AND NO ONE WARNED ME that I'd be seeing a knight's package on stage. Woo! :)

That salsa's truly the best and comes from the town of Telephone, Texas (so-called because it was the only town with a telephone int hat neck of the woods). I sent accentmonkey the same. When it comes to sending packages, I say damn the postage expense. It is a form of recreation for me, I figure, and it's a sin tax.

patita, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I am away from home myself! In Cambridge! Eating foods I can't get on my pathetic island! Buying second-hand books and clothing! I bought POWER-SUIT skirts at the Salvation Army. Nobody has subverted the powersuit yet—it's virgin fashion territory. When I get home I'll have to lay out all possible combos on my bed. Hiking boots are def. called for. Then work my way up, and go over to Scott and Maria's to check out the appliances.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 23:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Perhaps I shall have to do some packages of Misery brand salsa.

Took a break from working to go out to eat. Two margaritas, my tacos and one of G's enchiladas.

I. AM. DYING.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 00:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Hi dere thread.

Margaritas are a great way to take a break from work.

We visited Mr & Mrs ailsa in their new home last night, and very nice it is too = almost as nice as her cooking :) (anyone who can get both of our boys to clear their plates is doing something right)

Shame we got stuffed at the football :(

She's expecting to be back online sometime this week I think.

David's 6th birthday today, the last of the party mentalism until Christmas!

onimo, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 12:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I want dinner with Scottish ILX0rs. :(

back at work. Demo at 1pm today. One big PHP thing to fix then a few styling things. wish me luck.

onimo, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 12:30 (sixteen years ago) link

Onimo is being v generous re my cooking (the washing up only took half an hour though, and NO leftovers to throw out, hurrah) :-)

I am only sorry I couldn't arrange a better performance from Celtic in the first eight minutes to improve the evening. Good food and good wine and good company counts for nothing if Stephen McManus is going to knacker the mood after four minutes :-( Still, it was lovely to see Megan all growed up and big - last time I held her she was about five days old and now she is all big and adventurous and our stairs hold no fear!

Do not all get excited about new bed, it is just a sofa-bed for the putting-up of guests since our spare bedroom is basically just a cupboard with ideas above its station and wouldn't fit a full-time bed in it (well it would, but there wouldn't be room for important stuff like computer and TV and playing Wii bowling and stuff. Still no home internets, so back in the library on the way to get my little car back.

Happy birthday to DavidOnimo, hope Shrek 3 hasn't made him all upset at not getting a Wii for his birthday!

ailsa, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 14:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I work with people who say things like, "It's only a $350,000,000.00 fund," at ten minutes after eight in the morning. :(

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:09 (sixteen years ago) link

i need a wii. anyone selling one cheap (PAL)?

darraghmac, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, and Ms Mis, take a holiday and come for dinner with Scottish ILXors!

Darragh, I will sell you a Wii* as I fear that, coupled with WoW will end my marriage :-)

*I won't really, but watch this space for how pissed off I get.

ailsa, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:13 (sixteen years ago) link

toying with my wii emotions will not endear me to your environmentally damaging travel techniques.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 15:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, and Ms Mis, take a holiday and come for dinner with Scottish ILXors!

I so wish I could but such travel is out of my means.

The good news is the site I've been slaving over is 98% finished and ready for it's demo in a couple of hours. I feel quite well.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Good for you, Ms Mis.

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I was just reading the 30 Rock thread, and even though nabisco said not to, I googled 'lemon party', and oh, how I wish I had not.

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Luckily I can't watch youtube at work, luna, 'cause from what I can glean from the search results, I might have to take grapefruit spoons to my eyeballs.

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:54 (sixteen years ago) link

That thing with the lemon in youtube is just old men dancing around, but you (thanks GOD) don't see anything, it's just the other pictures ... pardon me while I go poke out my mind's eye.

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 16:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, I just found out what it means and I'm now trying to find something to delete it from memory.

Hell of a way to start the day...

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Glad I could help.

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:13 (sixteen years ago) link

wow. . .I can only imagine.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Don't go there, Ms Mis...

Innocence is bliss.

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I DEMAND THE RETURN OF MY INNOCENCE!

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't look at nasty things at work anyway.

Or at home for that matter.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:34 (sixteen years ago) link

fingers crossed on the demo, ms. miz!

patita, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:56 (sixteen years ago) link

er, I'm guessing that the definition of lemon party that's causing such consternation is not the one I know...

patita, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I DEMAND THE RETURN OF MY INNOCENCE!

Of course, Ma'am. Did you keep the receipt?

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Per urbandictionary.com: lemon party = Closly related to the infamous "tubgirl" site. If one goes to www.lemonparty.org, you will withness a old-man threesome. One sucking dick and the other two making out. Possibly the most horrifing thing one man can ever witness. sic

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Great, there goes ever reader's innocence.

Pray tell, madam, is there indication why it's called a lemon party, specifically?

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:32 (sixteen years ago) link

wow, yeah, that's not the lemon party I knew. egads.

the one I knew was like a slam book, and I don't even want to ponder what kind of horrible thing that might become as a website.

patita, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I know what patita is talking about. I believe that website is called Noize Board.

Thanks for the definition Luna, that's all I need to know.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 23:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I have come to the conclusion I don't understand ILX any more, and maybe I should just stay off it.

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:23 (sixteen years ago) link

No, stay on. It's dead enough lately. Don't need the good ones leaving.

WAKE UP EVERYONE!

I have my first user testing lab in two hours. So far it's gone a bit star-shaped but I shall pull it off and learn from my mistakes.

Are you all Onimo-ed?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:24 (sixteen years ago) link

i think it's called a lemon party cos old men make faces like they're sucking one during intercourse.

just a theory.

darraghmac, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:26 (sixteen years ago) link

It's not that gross a picture really now, is it.

No, I have not been onimoed since I don't know when. I've just felt like shooting myself in the fucking face, or sticking my head in the oven, or something for about a week now and any time I've tried to cheer myself up in the seconds I've got free by clicking on a thread has just been depressing as fuck. Pages of middle-aged men pretending to be teenagers is no fun - that's what every other forum is full of.
