but really I don't know if she really counts w/ what I'm wondering about because
1. she named herself
2. middle names are kind of useless
3. its not integrated into a name

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:44 (thirteen years ago) link

She named herself? I thought it was a not-uncommon thing, believed to be lucky?

the soul of the avocado escapes as soon as you open it (Laurel), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:47 (thirteen years ago) link

naming yourself or the number 8?

I used to work in international student admissions at a university and once got an application from a student in Thailand whose name was D2.

I have been forks-style since day one (forksclovetofu), Friday, 4 June 2010 04:31 (thirteen years ago) link

it would only work if it was spelled se7en or 5even or s3v3n

harbl, Friday, 4 June 2010 09:40 (thirteen years ago) link

5even and s3v3n don't work because the numbers only add up to 5 and 6 respectively

real eyes realize real truffle fries (dyao), Friday, 4 June 2010 09:53 (thirteen years ago) link

oh i didn't know they had to add up to anything

harbl, Friday, 4 June 2010 10:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Hey Dayo - I think D2 was his real name! It was listed as such on the application and all accompanying materials.

Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Friday, 4 June 2010 11:15 (thirteen years ago) link

haha I was just joshin xp

enbb that's cool! was just asking because it's quite common in some Asian countries for people to give themselves their own English names which are unrelated to their government names

real eyes realize real truffle fries (dyao), Friday, 4 June 2010 11:17 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, I know. I would say most of our applicants from Asian countries had their real names and then their English names but often those were more along the lines of "Michael" and not D2.
