I would watch Dane Cook in a snuff movie maybe

calzaghe = way too cocky here
― Porkpie, Sunday, 4 November 2007 01:38 (5 years ago) Permalink
hes gonna have to have his best fight ever if he's gonna beat this guy, kessler is very good.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 01:46 (5 years ago) Permalink
if he keeps leading with his head down like that, Kessler's going to floor him with a big shot
― Porkpie, Sunday, 4 November 2007 01:48 (5 years ago) Permalink
im pretty sure kessler wont get knocked out or stopped, so maybe the age difference will count at the later stages.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 01:51 (5 years ago) Permalink
I'm only listening on 5 Live but it seems to be turning into a chess match. Which suits Calzaghe, I guess.
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 4 November 2007 01:54 (5 years ago) Permalink
Joe's way ahead on points but Kessler can catch him with big punches and he's gotta knock joe out. Kessler can punch so hard so joe gotta not get caught.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:15 (5 years ago) Permalink
MY GOD
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:19 (5 years ago) Permalink
I reckon Joe has won by 3.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:19 (5 years ago) Permalink
Calzaghe BETTER take Sports Personality Of The Year by a landslide.
has to be calzaghe
xpost no chance, sadly, hatton maybe, if he wins
― Matt, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:20 (5 years ago) Permalink
fuckin' Max Kellerman. They (kinda) ditched Larry Merchant for this putz...
What was up with Kessler's corning not doing anything about his left eye?
― milo z, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:20 (5 years ago) Permalink
YES!!!
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:21 (5 years ago) Permalink
It will be Loser Hamilton tho won't it.
It has to be Calzaghe tho.
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:22 (5 years ago) Permalink
was there something to like about Larry Merchant?
― wanko ergo sum, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:23 (5 years ago) Permalink
buffet puts too much into the joe, not enough into the calzaghe
it will be hamilton, i don't know that there's anything that can be done, very wrong, only ricky can stop him
― Matt, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:24 (5 years ago) Permalink
calzaghe was impressive...would love to see the rumored fight vs b.hop
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:24 (5 years ago) Permalink
Awesome fight, if this had been on ITV then Joe would walk the sports personality. But in a country where princesses can fucking win it, I guess it will be Hamilton unless Hatton wins(would be an amazing achievement but I can't see him beating Mayweather).
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:26 (5 years ago) Permalink
Joe will step up a division I reckon. He's beat everyone in the super middleweight division.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:27 (5 years ago) Permalink
yeah, but no-one could see him beating tszyu either, I think he'll do it
― Matt, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:27 (5 years ago) Permalink
Larry Merchant is like having your grandfather narrate a fight on a fifth of Jack. Max is like having your meth-addict cousin scream the entire time. (except tonight, when they seem to have kept his mic cut off for rounds at a time)
― milo z, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:30 (5 years ago) Permalink
Kessler will rule that division when Joe steps up.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:35 (5 years ago) Permalink
With regards to the Hatton vs Mayweather, I reckon Oscar was beating Mayweather until the last couple of rounds where he tired badly. Hatton shouldn't tire like that so it could be a good fight.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:37 (5 years ago) Permalink
Kellerman's success has kinda made him a cocky bastard, but at least he's reasonably informed, and sober. xxp
― wanko ergo sum, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:37 (5 years ago) Permalink
Setanta needs to lay off the "best fight ever" shite. That wasn't in Joe's top 5. Kessler caught him a few times but looked as if he only had one way of fighting - once Joe sussed that out all he had to do was avoid the big shots (which he nearly fucked up).
First six rounds were good, particularly the 3rd and 4th where it went from "Calzaghe's going to walk this" to "Calzaghe's going to get knocked spark out any second" but after that it never really hit the heights.
All credit to Calzaghe though, he always seem to know to win regardless of what problem is put in front of him. It'll be interesting to see if he moves up a division, given that he's never really been a concussive puncher at 12st.

I thought it was a classic myself. Never gonna get to sleep tonight because of the buzz hehe.
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 02:53 (5 years ago) Permalink
pleasant surprise - Juan Manuel Marquez v. Rocky Juarez on Showtime now. Marquez is a great fighter to watch, Juarez would be making a go of it if not for a nasty cut.
― milo z, Sunday, 4 November 2007 03:10 (5 years ago) Permalink
Hopkins next for Calzaghe then?
― pfunkboy, Sunday, 4 November 2007 18:00 (5 years ago) Permalink
if anyone's interested, there is a re-airing of the contender final on espn2 tonight at 10. this was completely not on my radar as the contender as a tv show is pretty terrible but brian kenny on sportscenter said this was the best fight he's ever seen.
― johnny crunch, Thursday, 8 November 2007 22:05 (5 years ago) Permalink
BBC1 is re-showing the calzaghe fight after football focus on saturday.
x-post didn't calzaghe kick the arse of the guy from the contender? Or is this a new one?

David Haye vs Jean-Marc Mormeck for the WBA and WBC cruiserweight titles is on setanta now live from Paris.

Is there anywhere to stream this online? Haye's my boy.

Got 5live commentary.

I don't watch (listen to) Haye fights to see him play the fucking stamina game..
― Dom Passantino, Saturday, 10 November 2007 21:12 (5 years ago) Permalink
Haye dropped in the fourth!
― Dom Passantino, Saturday, 10 November 2007 21:15 (5 years ago) Permalink
Haye KO R7
― Dom Passantino, Saturday, 10 November 2007 21:27 (5 years ago) Permalink
A cracking punch to finish it. He's relinquishing the belts though, so no fight with Enzo unless its at heavyweight and enzo isn't anywhere near a heavyweight yet so I guess that fights a few years away.
― Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 10 November 2007 21:48 (5 years ago) Permalink
Shane Mosley vs Miguel Cotto on Setanta at 3am tonight. Worth staying up late?

I'm gonna eat a shitload of fried food over the next few days in tribute to Ricky.
― Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 16:33 (5 years ago) Permalink
Hatton KO/TKO @ 4/1 is tempting, though my heart might be ruling my head here.
― onimo, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 16:59 (5 years ago) Permalink
Not paying £16 for it. I guess 5 Live will have to do.
― Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:13 (5 years ago) Permalink
I feel sorry for Ali though, he put all that time and effort into his little rhymes, his little speeches, his interviews, and yet his entire spoken word output has basically been blown out of the water by the majesty of "Will you stop touching me knee you poof?"
― Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:21 (5 years ago) Permalink
I for one am looking forward to Mayweather's destruction of Hatton.
― Bill Magill, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:40 (5 years ago) Permalink
There is no way in hell you could get me to pay for this one.
Ricky the Hugman Hatton vs. a defensive boxer whose last five or six fights have all been dull.
― milo z, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:48 (5 years ago) Permalink
Mayweather isn't really about destroying anybody, least of all Hatton.
― Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:50 (5 years ago) Permalink
I know, but a guy can dream
― Bill Magill, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:56 (5 years ago) Permalink
Then again, he did kick the shit out of Arturo Gatti.
― Bill Magill, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:58 (5 years ago) Permalink
I reckon if it goes the distance, Mayweather wins. Which is why it should be a great fight, cos Hatton ought to realise that too.
