gotta love it really tbh. i know i'm risking death 4 this btw but does anyone else actually kinda see the cosmic rightness of teedra liking kol? it has improved my tolerance for 'sex on fire' immeasurably if nothing else.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense to me. I think people hate the big KOL singles out of a sense that they're something that should be hated, that they allow the public to indulge in retrograde taste etc but really I can so imagine Teedra vibing on the way their tunes hang together.

And I wonder if anything has changed with her label situation since that interview linked to above? Does not appear to be the case.

"r u 4 real" was released as an official single on itunes the other week - on the black moses music label, which i'm guessing is her own?

I might be doing a quick e-mail interview with her to run the day of her show in Washington DC. Trying to set that up. Can't make the gig this time.

the b-more club mix of BYG is even better than the original and thats the one i listen to most.

Also a BIG fan of that mix.

TM: I have an album scheduled for August.

WCP: How is this version different than the one planned for a few years ago?

TM: I gave away a few of the songs scheduled to be on The Young Lioness... I held on to the ones that meant a great deal to me. I've settled into the sound of The Lioness and it is strong but subtle... its champagne soul. It feels good, it's grown up and it's in the pocket.

WCP: Do you have any interest in writing songs for others anymore?

TM: I like writing songs... period. If I write a song that someone wants to sing cool. I would love for them to have it. otherwise, I'm just writing songs. They're not particularly for anyone.

WCP: What artists are you listening to?

TM: I like Adele. I like J. Monet. I've been listening to Ahmad Jamal and Coltrane more recently. Sade...

WCP: Do you still listen to gospel? Sing in church when you're home?

TM: I listen to gospel when I go to church and sometimes on Pandora. I'm not up to date on whats really going on in gospel like I should be, though. I don't sing in church. I want to start singing at my church here in Miami... but I'm never home for choir practice.
