Today, I'm wearing tall boots, tights, a jacket and a scarf! This is awesome.

Okay, that does sound awesome!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

I am excited just to not be wearing the same scrub uniform I've had to wear for the past five days. (thank god I bought more than one, as the laundry would have become overwhelming just from that...)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:36 (fifteen years ago) link

what kind of shoes do you sport with your scrubs?

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Ugly white nursing shoes. I didn't have time to shop around, so I basically bought the first pair that fit. They are hideous!

Required white scrub pants = also v. ugly. Also, one of my pairs has a waist tie that I can never untie, thus I am at risk for never being able to pee if I put those on. (I have basically decided to never wear that pair again.)

Scrub top = royal blue, so at least that's okay.

Isn't there a fluffy bear hearts and rainbows scrub top?

Alison (aimurchie), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 03:36 (fifteen years ago) link

i have just finished my homeowrk for the day at 11:59. i love that. getting shit done just under the midnight line!

i am so frustrated because i just spent an hour and a half fixing crap for a group project. these projects annoy me because one of the members did not get me her stuff til this afternoon and now we are trying to finalize last minute. also, her stuff was really hastily thrown together and lazy in content. grr.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 04:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 04:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey, guess what guys, I am writing another 30+ page paper! This time it's not due tomorrow at noon, but instead Thurs. at 6, but still beyond ludicrous.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 04:52 (fifteen years ago) link

sewing people? that's something! xp

I appreciate that they want to "see our thinking" about our nursing cares, but I feel like I'm half in WRITING school, not nursing school. BLAH

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 06:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, I've written 15 single spaced pages today; time for a 9 hour sleep break. More of this nonsense tomorrow.

Thanks for being consistently awesome, ITR.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 06:53 (fifteen years ago) link

This show is really, really, really stupid. Like, ultra-mega-gonz stupid.
I say this as someone who would like to see a "Manimal" revival.

Susan, THAT SCRUB TOP!!! Wow, why don't I have money to spend right now? ;_;

Is there some reason that they couldn't have tried to at least give that woman a modicum of dignity by showing her taking someone's blood pressure or something?

That picture is now just screaming to me: NURSES! WE AT FRUIT AT WORK! AND WE CAN WEAR CARTOONS ON OUR WORK CLOTHES! JOIN OUR RANKS!!!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 17:27 (fifteen years ago) link

omg I will be writing this paper for the rest of my life.

I can only hope now that my life will be blessedly brief.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 21:13 (fifteen years ago) link

what about? Scrub tops?

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 21:20 (fifteen years ago) link

My patient that I took care of this past weekend, and his 8 billion functional patterns. Document now 17 single spaced pages. It's like NaNoWriMo, only with APA citations. Also, after an exhausting weekend of not sleeping enough while caring for sick people.

I really worry that this nursing program is not teaching me what I need to know to actually BE a nurse. I am getting good at writing in a semi-coma, though. SKILLZ!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 21:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh sh*t. G downloaded (1llegally) a couple of eps of tru3 bl0od and the cable company just called him about it. wtf? How could they know??

Argh, I meant WE EAT FRUIT AT WORK.

But at least I've made John happy today. Mission accomplished?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 22:57 (fifteen years ago) link

i liked it too!

sara, i know this doesn't help, but i also end up writing stupid papers about shit while feeling like i'm not learning the proper stuff to DO my job (or potential future jobs). like, instead of spending months perfecting some dude's idea of the perfect spreadsheets last semester, i should have been taking some kind of statistics course. way to go, grad school. way to go.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Thursday, 30 October 2008 03:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Thanks, tza. I am still writing. Getting down to the very last section (everything else is now written; A. is giving it one last proof). I guess the heart of it is that I don't see the value in making us write 30-40 page papers after exhausting weekends - and then having them due so quickly. I mean, who writes papers this long a. more than once in a class and b. in the space of about 4 days?

I'd prefer more clinical time and time with patients and then maybe verbal analysis with a prof.

(bitch bitch bitch)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 30 October 2008 04:12 (fifteen years ago) link

Also this has totally turned me off from grad school/academia, forEVAH.

i spent a bunch of time last weekend, and last night finalizing proposed changes to a collective bargaining agreement to be presented at the opening statements of our mock collective bargaining process tonight, only to find that we had a guest speaker and ran out of time so opening statements/proposals are postponed til next week. booooo.

i did have to give an oral presentation that i was supposed to give 5 weeks ago. that was shitty because i barely remembered anything and basically just read the powerpoint out loud.

i went directly to the bar after class tonight. maybe you should come HERE. my friend really wanted to watch the world series. i just wanted a glass of wine to forget the last 3 hours.

eek, I worry about this when I move to the states. Over here if you don't want hassle about your downloading you move to a company that doesn't hassle, the market doesn't seem to be nearly so deregulated in the states.

He called and played dumb. They knew the name of the show and he pretended he didn't know what they were talking about. He said "how do I know if it's copyrighted or not?" They told him to delete it and they would turn our service back on.

I told him to wait until it came out on DVD, damn.

Do you use them as your Internet provider? If so, that's probably how he got caught. If not, they may be the backbone for whomever you are using.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Thursday, 30 October 2008 13:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah we get broadband from our cable company. He'll just have to chill on that broadband for awhile.
