And happy birthday, Megan!

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Woah! I'm staying in this year. Alone.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

OMG happy bday Spencer! Sorry forgot to say it!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

*Begins thinking about NYE options*

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Aw thanks! He's totally stoked to not only be in the double digits, but also because we're taking him and his best friend to Disneyland tomorrow.

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Souvenirs anyone?

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia Goofy!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks all for the help re. wedding gift crisis.

Happy birthday to M3g4n and Sp3nc3r!

Good weekend everyone!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:36 (sixteen years ago) link

You too, kv!

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Weddings are just a greedball shakedown.

I knew a couple who went around a very nice store with specal barcode reading guns that help select their registry. They shot more stuff (and really expensive stuff too) than a drunken Yosemite Sam at a varmint convention. I was so appalled I considered not going to their wedding.

Happy b-day lunason and Megan!!

Michael White, Friday, 14 September 2007 17:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy Birthday Spencer!

Onimio, you and the misses seemed to be on a pretty regular conception schedule there.

It's become something of a running gag that I seem to only get laid as a Christmas/New Year treat.

We had 5 wee baby girls in the house today and Megan was 2nd oldest!

onimo, Friday, 14 September 2007 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm seeing a trip to London in my future. To see Patrick Stewart in Macbeth, preferably.

accentmonkey, Saturday, 15 September 2007 10:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to see a trip to the UK in my future. :( Come on lottery!

Ms Misery, Saturday, 15 September 2007 14:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Michael, not only should you have given that horrid couple's wedding a pass, you should have written them a formal severance-of-friendship letter. But it's not too late! The Festering Clause. I shall draft one later, when I've had some wine.

Beth Parker, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Festering Clause? I would like to see one.

Simmering towards my other. I've done nothing this past week but bust my ass on two sites that are due Wed. Despite my asking he hasn't lifted a finger towards laundry (except for doing a load of just his own) and seemed put out when I asked him to GO UP THE STREET for a few groceries earlier. "Can't you go?" NO THAT'S WHY I AM ASKING YOU!

Why the fuck am I having to beg for out-of-the-ordinary help with basic, mutual chores?

GRRRRRR

Ms Misery, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Well, if he wants to play housemates rather than relationship, you should play it too for a while. Cook nothing, wash up only after yourself, write your name on your food in the fridge, do only your own laundry. See how he likes it.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:16 (sixteen years ago) link

The disarray would drive me nuts.

In terms of division of labor laundry and groceries have fallen under my territory b/c he claims there are many things he does that I don't/wont'. fine. whatever. I'm actually rather picky about these two chores and would rather do them myself.

But this is an unusual situation and I need him to pick up some of my load. I would do the same without question.

It's distracting me from working right now. I need to take a chill pill (literally). Would like to call my mother and vent (complaining is one of the few things she's actually good at and understands) but I have to wait for him to get out of the house.

Ms Misery, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:21 (sixteen years ago) link

DUDE i couldn't sign on alla last night man ; ( oh my god! i just realized -- i'm at work today, and patita's comin to see the show today! i'm workin the show... not that'd i'd ever recognize

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

alla? what's that?

Patita looks like a Texan who's on this thread should look. :) Maybe she won't wear any pants to help you recognize her.

Ms Misery, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:29 (sixteen years ago) link

teehee

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 15:31 (sixteen years ago) link

awwwwwwww!! i just met her! she was perfectly lovely (and wearing pants) and she brought me salsa that looks fucking amazing (i like to think i have an eye for salsa)

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:27 (sixteen years ago) link

So cool!

Patita did send me what looks like excellent salsa in my Patita package. I wonder if it's the same type?

accentmonkey, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Isn't that heavy to send in the mail? I'll have to ask her. I would love to send my homemade salsa abroad.

Ms Misery, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:45 (sixteen years ago) link

omg, this salsa... WOW

it's called Hell on The Red Party Dip. it's like sweet in JUST the right way, and the bite is perfect

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:08 (sixteen years ago) link

i can't keep eating tho, i've been on an eating fixation this week. i keep putting things in my mouth. and to tell you the truth, i think it's because i've stopped having breakfast.

oh my god tho! cereal's gonnab e my new thing in the morning. that or toast. i know how original. i need that padding, you know, so i don't binge later?

um, i had fruity pebbles today. they are SO GOOD. they are very good in creamy milk, u know like not skim -- oh and they are good in VANILLA SOY.

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link

The postage on the box she sent me was $21.60. Which is certainly not cheap, but manageable, I guess.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:28 (sixteen years ago) link

I am very much looking forward to my salsa.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:29 (sixteen years ago) link

yes... the bf just approved it and he's picky. MMMM

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Hell on the Red is good.

You should definitely eat breakfast. Isn't called most important meal of the day for nothing.

Ms Misery, Sunday, 16 September 2007 20:35 (sixteen years ago) link

amen

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 21:16 (sixteen years ago) link

omg Ryan just made the most amazing marinara sauce i've ever had, with meatballs!!!!!

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 23:45 (sixteen years ago) link

the whole process is so romantic, the different smells throughout the day as the sauce is being prepared, the different messes on the counter, the meatballs sizzling in the pan right as you start think about dinner, the dinner....

Surmounter, Sunday, 16 September 2007 23:46 (sixteen years ago) link

which reminds me, i really need 2 buy lady and the tramp soon

Surmounter, Monday, 17 September 2007 00:30 (sixteen years ago) link

You should definitely eat breakfast. Isn't called most important meal of the day for nothing.

I eat breakfast: feel I'll vomit all day. Acid throat from hell. First solids I can manage are lunch. Sad but true :(

Had a good weekend. Culture night was a bit animal so didn't get to do the tour of State Apartments in Dublin Castle. Saw a dodgy documentary on La Chaise cemetery on Sat and then took the uncle out for dinner with my s.o. Sunday I shopped for wedding. I am now excited. Now need to learn how to bow tie, my younger sister is still on holiday and she was the only one who could figure out how to tie the effing thing!

Good morning everyone!

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 08:40 (sixteen years ago) link

After a very, very drunken weekend I still have some sausages in the fridge, having eaten some of them last night. NOM NOM NOM.

aldo, Monday, 17 September 2007 09:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh man, cold sausages are the best!

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 09:19 (sixteen years ago) link

They are very big though. Natural casings do swell quite a bit.

aldo, Monday, 17 September 2007 09:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Hur hur hur

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 10:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Me and Mister M have just been out and spent our SSIA money. New 40" Samsung telly! New sofa covered in hard-wearing fabric that dogs cannot destroy! So excited now.

accentmonkey, Monday, 17 September 2007 11:10 (sixteen years ago) link

Congrats on the new goods!

I arrived at work at quarter after 6 this morning. hurrah!

Ms Misery, Monday, 17 September 2007 11:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Still an hour from coffee. :(

Ms Misery, Monday, 17 September 2007 12:30 (sixteen years ago) link

Much better than trip to Antarctic imho!!

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 12:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Well yes, especially since by going to the Antarctic we would be helping to destroy it. So no Antarctic for me. Instead I shall watch it from the comfort of my huge, Irish-built, hopefully long-lasting couch.

I can't make many claims for the sustainability of the new TV, but Mister M insisted on it.

accentmonkey, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Today is travel day! Amsterdam or bust.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Have fun!

Ms Misery, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm going to block up the last 10% of my arteries and have Accentmonkey ship my body home.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Good plan! Have a good time all of yous!

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Me and Mister M have just been out and spent our SSIA money. New 40" Samsung telly! New sofa covered in hard-wearing fabric that dogs cannot destroy! So excited now.

Me and Neil have been out spending our hard-earned profits from the sale of the last house. New suite! New sofa bed! Half of IKEA!!!! New LCD telly! Sky+ box at last, I am up with the modern TV experience, no more videos for us! New bedding! A Wii!!!! I is a consumer and I LOVE IT!

ailsa, Monday, 17 September 2007 14:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Score all round! Especially nice re. profit! YAY!

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 14:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Most of profit went on deposit, paying off existing debts and buying new cars, but still, enough to go a little mad on buying stuff.
