newport folk festival 1965 album on vanguard. decent copy. vg+ ian?

sang froid, you need a copy?

can't find a price anywhere. paul butterfield, son house, koerner and glover. lol no dylan. scary mel lyman's solo harmonica rock of ages. (mel trying to heal the dylan wound after the festival had ended. thanks, creepy.)

not that i think its worth a ton or anything. just weird that i can't find a copy for sale online. i'm not always the best searcher though.

scott seward, Monday, 8 February 2010 17:48 (fourteen years ago) link

finally got a copy of the singer-songwriter project! woo hoo! needed that one. it's not like you need to own a lot to be a richard farina completist, but this was definitely on my want-list. (still don't have the eric von schmidt thing, but i'll get one eventually.)

scott seward, Monday, 8 February 2010 17:53 (fourteen years ago) link

thanks, but it's not really calling my name today. i have that singer-songwriter project one, too!

Thus Sang Freud, Monday, 8 February 2010 18:03 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, those Newport recordings are a little too staid for me most of the time.

However, the Farina/Schmidt LP is on my want list as well! We've had copies @ the shop before but they always end up on ebay.

wow ive never seen that one before -- the cover is totally beautiful

69, Monday, 8 February 2010 19:51 (fourteen years ago) link

the first side of the 65 newport thing is really good. butterfield band/lilly brothers/son house/some african dance troupe/eric von schmidt with mel lyman and geoff and maria muldaur. (a.k.a. maria d'amato)

scott seward, Monday, 8 February 2010 20:08 (fourteen years ago) link

sealed original don cherry/latif khan music/sangam with just a little shrink damage -- it's a great record, and i have the reissue. unsealed copy went for $75 or $80 a couple years ago, but that was before the reissue...

69, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:54 (fourteen years ago) link

i worry about buying sealed records cuz of warpage.

Joint Custody (ian), Friday, 12 February 2010 19:56 (fourteen years ago) link

i bought it last week on eBay for $25

69, Friday, 12 February 2010 19:58 (fourteen years ago) link

wait, you just bought it and you want to know what it costs?

scott seward, Friday, 12 February 2010 20:29 (fourteen years ago) link

right. i was confused too.

Joint Custody (ian), Friday, 12 February 2010 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link

like if i were to sell it at a record fair -- i think i got a really good deal on ebay, but i thought maybe you guys have seen more of these come and go...

69, Saturday, 13 February 2010 23:43 (fourteen years ago) link

$40 for VG plus copy of Joy division LWTUA original UK 12" FAC 23... good or overpriced?

Yorsh, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:14 (fourteen years ago) link

sounds high.

scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:16 (fourteen years ago) link

very overpriced. half that would be ok

victim of a vicious puma (electricsound), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:16 (fourteen years ago) link

watch ebay for a week or two and you could probably get one for 10 bucks. they probably sell 20 a week. (i made that last part up.)

scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:20 (fourteen years ago) link

you could get the 7 inch on ebay for, like, 5 bucks or less too.

scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:22 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah. this is probably one of factory's least rare discs

victim of a vicious puma (electricsound), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:25 (fourteen years ago) link

do you guys have this? looks cool. and this looks like a deal even if the cover's fucked up. i'd like to hear that stuff.

Those regional RRR boxes always seem like such a good idea until I get them home and then never listen to 'em. I don't even think I kept the New England box, featuring all my hometown heroes!

Joint Custody (ian), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 16:25 (fourteen years ago) link

whats the going rate for ohhhhhh probably 2nd press trout mask - red straight label - no insert clean vinyl - vg+ - vg cover with some ringwear and one pretty big split but otherwise okey dokey. 25 bucks?

i think i asked my brother this and he said 25 but i might have been dreaming this.

scott seward, Thursday, 25 February 2010 22:06 (fourteen years ago) link

at a good reasonable store and not some old man joint where they put it up on the wall for a hundred bucks cuz they are old and stuff. i have no idea cuz i don't get around much. even if i overprice it it will probably only be in the store for ohhhhhhh 3 days maybe.

scott seward, Thursday, 25 February 2010 22:08 (fourteen years ago) link

$25 seems fine.

Joint Custody (ian), Thursday, 25 February 2010 22:20 (fourteen years ago) link

sounds awesome, by the way. jeez, when was the last time i played trout mask? i am walking rekkerd store nerd cliche today. first beach boys now beefheart.

i just got a copy of trout mask the other day, and it had been so long since id heard it! annie and i listened and played a german board game and got drunk. pretty chill time!

GBV - Bee Thousand LP Scat 35 on clear blue vinyl, NM or EX?

Yorsh, Tuesday, 9 March 2010 03:54 (fourteen years ago) link

watch this one. it has, like, six hours left in the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Guided-by-Voices-Bee-Thousand-Scat-35-LP-BLUE-VINYL_W0QQitemZ160409748256QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item25592a8320

i sold one years ago and i did well with it. can't remember how much i got though. they are good sellers. gbv on vinyl in general is always a good thing to sell. or, you'll always find people to buy the stuff anyway.

scott seward, Tuesday, 9 March 2010 14:43 (fourteen years ago) link

gbv being one of those cases where a lot of the fans they have now weren't buying their vinyl in the 90's. so, demand is higher than supply. even a lot of their fans in the 90's weren't buying vinyl, you know? same goes for pearl jam!

one month passes...

just saw Mars EP on Lust/Unlust for £5, great condition - has the bottom of the no wave/post punk market fallen out yet?

aztec gamera (zappi), Saturday, 17 April 2010 15:31 (fourteen years ago) link

oh well i went back and bought it. also got a Mark Perry solo album 'Snappy Turns' for £4 which i'm really enjoying.

so, is $20 a fair price for 'Robin's Reign'?? too much? too little?? I saw a copy in PDX and held in my stash for a while but ultimately put it back. Since I never see it, not sure what it should go for. But, just because I never see it I'm not sure it's necessarily a $20 record...

Stormy Davis, Friday, 14 May 2010 05:58 (fourteen years ago) link

seems a little high. but i could see someone trying to get 20 for it. i think i paid 10 for my copy. i'd probably sell it for 15 in my store.

scott seward, Friday, 14 May 2010 12:58 (fourteen years ago) link

that record is... odd. i like it, but i find it hard to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. what is PDX?

ah yes, PortlanD oregonX. how could i have missed it?

by another name (amateurist), Monday, 17 May 2010 00:00 (thirteen years ago) link

it's the airport code. like ORD for O'Hare and so forth

Stormy Davis, Monday, 17 May 2010 00:06 (thirteen years ago) link

believe or not some people have these three letter codes committed to memory (and in Portland's case in particular, it's just taken on a life of its own as shorthand for the city)

Stormy Davis, Monday, 17 May 2010 00:07 (thirteen years ago) link

It just rolls off the tongue. I have called it that for years.

goblin greatest hits on italian cinevox label? 20 bucks? 25? obviously not as pricy as one of the soundtracks. maybe 20 would be the nice price.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 May 2010 18:19 (thirteen years ago) link

$20 sounds reasonable to me.

how much should i charge for nick drake box on hannibal? somewhat discoloured box. sun? it happened to my copy at home too. must have been the ink they used. anyway, clean vinyl, booklet, etc. the old one. not the new fancy one with the dvd. or maybe i should have two copies. one at home and one at the store. in case of earthquake.
