'knights of cydonia' is one muse's better tracks but i don't like 'starlight' at all.

As should be readily apparent, I am a Muse fan. Mostly/entirely due to Knights of Cydonia, in fact. And I like to head bang because I can't dance, nor do I have much interest in it. Speed, aggression, and an incredibly catchy chorus do more for me than a groovy beat or whatever you kids call it.

seriously the two so-called "worst" tracks so far are two of the best here! ilm, you vote for camera obscura, tv on the radio, grizzly bear, midlake and justice about half a decade after the fact, and then hate on beyonce and fergie ferg? you fucking chumps.

I like Beyonce but Ring the Alarm is a sonic shit-missile. And after listening to the Freemasons mix so many times it seems even worse than when I first heard it.

omg i totally forgot to mention it - i heard (what i presume was) the freemasons rmx while i was having my hair cut the other day! it is AMAZING.

i heart the original 4eva though.

While Fergie definitely sucks, Camera Obscura, Grizzly Bear, the Hold Steady, etc. are not much better.

The two singles I voted for were "Knights of Cydonia" and "Crazy." Tells you just how awesome "Crazy" is, in that it spans such a large range of tastes.

Musically, may I suggest keeping the Worst Tracks in their own thread? It's going to be confusing scanning through this thread and seeing those single covers popping up amidst the list.

That was all three of them, actually. And I think I mentioned that they are the "Worst Tracks" right by them so hopefully there won't be too much confusion about it, which wasn't my intention.

It's a fantastic, gorgeous track, #7 on my ballot. The bride, in particular, is excellent. And who can resist the lyrics in the chorus? It's the Sisters at their best.

Cassie's voice might be thin, but it's also hard to get out of your head. I've never been to a dance club, but I always picture Cassie being that girl who makes eye contact with you from across the dancefloor. You know? The one who comes over in the middle of "No Diggity" and whispers sweet, seductive phrases in your ear? She's just so addictive and irresistible. And along with this mostly simplistic beat, she's hypnotic.

Because the song is so shy, whenever it wants to climax--whenever Cassie wants to take it to the hotel room, if you will--it's ridiculously effective. And you're left wanting more.

its the most dramatic track, the most immediate, the most punchy drum wise (meatier) its everything a single ought to be... all the breaths as percussion almost R'n'B allusions, the subtle palm muted rock instrumentation running along with the synth arpeggio... the lyric is a load of nothing, true but it still works brilliantly as some kind of re-imagined 80s pop that actually sounds nothing like anything made in the 80s... a simulacrum that's actually completely contemporaneous...
