Xpost: i can even wait till next week for the albums; would be nice to get away from the high-drama (sincerely) that this thread has been!

Thks musically. and everyone that argued so righteously about/against Girls, ESOM, DP, Taylor.

Just realized that "Hellhole Ratrace" may have been the best unrealized joke #1 ever.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:22 (fourteen years ago) link

lol according to tom ewing's blog, both ilm & poptimits had "fancy" at #11

ratface killah (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:35 (fourteen years ago) link

v disappointed by the top 2. Daniel is just a really mediocre song lacking energy and ffs You Belong With Me, vocals aside, is the most boring and actually bland musical composition i heard last year along with all other TS. i am quitting polls forever etc.

lol @ "vocals aside"

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:38 (fourteen years ago) link

I have no opinion on the Taylor Swift song, or the fact that it's #1. Daniel is pretty great, though if we were going through the nominations process again, I may have nommed Sleep Alone instead of Pearl's Dream. Sleep Alone has grown on me a lot in just the last month or so.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:38 (fourteen years ago) link

ftr i absolutely abhorred the first bat for lashes album. 'daniel' just came up on a playlist somewhere and i was astonished.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:38 (fourteen years ago) link

Once you get into Two Suns (if you try, that is), go back to the first album again. It seems so much better now that you can put it in some context.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:39 (fourteen years ago) link

no pleasing some people

who me? i'm pretty easily pleased! hating on Swift's music would be a total waste of time if it wasn't for just how popular it is. so really i only dislike it for the same reasons i dislike 'I Gotta Feeling' and Coldplay.

mdskltr (blueski), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:42 (fourteen years ago) link

i think the only problem with it is it feels a bit stilted at times

Just a bit.

Honestly, it seems like a bad joke that anything that sounds like that would end up in a top ten list such as this.

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 00:58 (fourteen years ago) link

weakest top 10 since these polls began imo.

jabba otm, and the first 20-30 were so exciting!

so now i wanna know where 'i will come back' and 'spaghetti circus' did actually end up, points-wise.. so i know whether to kick myself or not for not voting

I would have voted for all of these if I’d seen a voting thread:
JJ - Ecstasy (6 votes, 71 points)
Sticky feat. Lady Chann - Your Eye Too Fast (4 votes, 42.5 points)
still going - spaghetti circus (4 votes, 35.5 points)
*stush - we nuh run (3 votes, 34.5 points)
*Ms Dynamite - Bad Gyal (3 votes, 30 points)
holy ghost! - i will come back (2 votes, 25 points)
*Donae'o - Party Hard (2 votes, 23.5 points)

*probably.

Also would have given a futile #1 to Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore by Tiga (and Gonzales) (with Soulwax and James Murphy). HG! #2.

No, no matter how much you'd like to think that, nothing justifies a 2010 album placing on a 2009 poll.

I know this was hours ago (the thread keeps reviving!) and seems to refer to an already-held argument, but if the physical album can make it to me ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET before Christmas, it came out in 2009

Bat for lashes is awwwight. Really though only Daniel and Glass are good on that album. More importantly what was she thinking with that album cover. Bad photoshop to the Nth degree....

Still don't get the love for Taylor Swift at all.

Who the fuck is Peter Andre for god's sake?

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 01:04 (fourteen years ago) link

Man, if only the jerk crew had figured out some consensus picks, we could had maybe two songs in the top 50. Baby Dollz came closest, but there were a few in reach.

Also, had I ordered mine, RichGirl totally would have slipped through at 48 or something.

Alex in Montreal, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 01:06 (fourteen years ago) link

*heroine, btw. apologies.

lol @ me thinking pockets never hungry and lemonade were gonna show. i didn't even realize "quiet dog" was a single tbh but it is definitely one of the more immediate tracks and pretty much all i play off that record.

The consensus jerk picks were faaaaaaaaaaar from my favorites.

Updated Grooveshark playlist:

(Sadly missing the original version of "Baby Can't Stop", so you'll have to make do with the Aeroplane remix.)

I didn't have a particularly good tracks list (though that doesn't stop me from being "ugh" about a lot of the choices here) but I did vote for Omar Souleyman... and 'In the NA' (who was it who was the big repper here? I am sceptical about some of their other stuff, but this particular song is fucking excellent).

I am not really a tracks person either which was why the Omar S really stood out, I listened to those LPs a fair amount in 09.

sleeve, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 02:45 (fourteen years ago) link

am really glad the the constituency of ilm has changed to move away from scandopop-fetishising

this is so not a good thing. i'm beyond disappointed by the lack of el perro del mar and air france in this list.

also- hurray for "one day"! i almost voted for it but went with holy ghost instead, so i'm glad it placed. it's probably the better of those two songs anyhow

psychgawsple, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 02:52 (fourteen years ago) link

and seriously shameeeee on ilx for not getting "love the night away" somewhere into the top 50

psychgawsple, Wednesday, 3 February 2010 02:58 (fourteen years ago) link

^^^^was a total shock. that, phoenix, and the meanderthals were my summer jamz

hey Musically, you are awesome for running this!

(and while I'm at it please send me my ballot in case you didn't get my previous request)

whoa no meanderthals votes! weird

rasta batman gigolo (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 3 February 2010 03:01 (fourteen years ago) link

Meanderthals album is top ten for me but it would be weird to vote for any one song as a track I think.

Musically: if you've already got those past ILM lists somewhere convenient, would you mind posting that recap of the past ILM polls in its own thread (for future reference)? I don't know how far back you went, but I think it would be great if we could have all those top 50's in one thread.
