OTM!

Also, he lets himself get sucked into the worry...But he feels guilty about everything all the time.

Mr Monkey is me. He is good people.

Christ, work is boring.

OTM

HAPPY BDAY MEGAN! Did you plan to have all the kids on the same week?

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 09:43 (sixteen years ago) link

I am making sausages for the first time this weekend. That only leaves about 6 months to practice before ATP.

aldo, Friday, 14 September 2007 09:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Ugh feel awful today...weak. And have to go to the afters of a wedding a few hours away down the country. Solution=booze. I feel faintly weird about how cos of being sick all the time, the only thing that can make me utterly not notice it is drinking. Seems a bad thing to have acknowledged. But I guess I still don't drink more than once every ten days or so.

So yeah...wedding should be fun.

Ronan, Friday, 14 September 2007 09:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh you're back drinking? Nice one. Afters are good though, you can always run away if they suck.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 10:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Urgh, not feeling to well either. I feel rather "not here." Also I can't feel my legs *properly*. Bloodflow is going a bit down (or rather not down). Ah well.

Nath, the problem is that you were in Houston.

hahahahah Yeah. Most probably. But then Atlanta was worse. The couple we stayed with were... a bit... racist. Not in a blatant kinda way. Well, not at first. Damn I wanted to slap that woman in the face after seeing how she treated the African-American cleaning lady. So very condescending.

I'm in your chalet next year, right? Guys? Guys?

accentmonkey, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Wah!!! I'm telling Mrs. Aldo. No carrot cake for you, Kev-lolz.

accentmonkey, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:22 (sixteen years ago) link

t(o_o)t

(see if I care you taddle-tale)

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I am sure there will be enough sossies for everyone. (Well not everyone everyone, but you know what I mean.)

aldo, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:34 (sixteen years ago) link

I know what you mean... No sausages for kv_lol ;_;

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Pitchfork for ATP 2008
You probably didn't hear it here first, but that's the facts, Jack.

Posted on DiS this morning. ;_;

aldo, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I have no idea what that means.

accentmonkey, Friday, 14 September 2007 12:13 (sixteen years ago) link

That he is cooking really big sausages with pitchfork.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 12:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Wherefore sadface, so?

accentmonkey, Friday, 14 September 2007 12:32 (sixteen years ago) link

He still hasn't said if I can have any :(

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 12:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Sadface because I'm not convinced Pitchfork curating ATP isn't a completely backwards step - I like it when bands or individuals curate because they invite some mates they want to give a break to, some biggish names and some stuff you've never heard of. Looking at the lineups for the last two years' Pitchfork festivals, almost all the bands on it have played ATPs before. I've enjoyed an awful lot of them too, but it's hard to see it as being any different to if Barry Hogan chose all the bands himself.

kv can have sossies if we ever meet.

aldo, Friday, 14 September 2007 12:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Deadly!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 13:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Onimio, you and the misses seemed to be on a pretty regular conception schedule there.

I am alone in the office today. Saint of Productivity please protect me.

G's sister sent her wedding invite out by eVite recently. SO WRONG!

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 13:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks Ms M I didn't want to be the first person to point out new year's eve + drunk = september birthdays!

eVite? So very wrong!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 13:51 (sixteen years ago) link

We previously received one by MySpace but this was from a punk rocker friend of ours marrying his new, pregnant girlfriend. In a bar. That was amusing.

G's sister and her fiance who both work for a major processing chip firm doing similar = what is this world coming to?

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Quick question: is it a bit too close to the wedding to bung some money into a fund for a painting? I bought them something off of the registry but now feel I was being v v cheap. WHAT TO DO PPL!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Wedding next sat but I think they're travelling from San Francisco as I type.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Ask the people who are organizing the fund.

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:38 (sixteen years ago) link

That would be the couple :(

I really wanted to bring a gift but it's looking like they definitely won't have space.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Hmm, that's kind of strange I think. To ask for money for a specific thing. (I realize registries are similar but at that's at least a list of possible gifts rather than straight out solicitation.)

I wouldn't worry about not giving enough. Give what you can/want b/c it's really about the though, not loading them up.

Can you ship the gift to their home so they don't have to carry it back?

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:43 (sixteen years ago) link

It might arrive a bit late. I'll buy a card and sort something out, thanks though. Very stressed because I don't want to look like a tool. Sadly I don't think I am succeeding :(

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 14:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Kev-lol, don't forget that you have up to six months after a wedding to buy the present. You don't have to bring it with you when you go. So you can always go to the wedding and then give the present afterward. Or bung them some cash there.

accentmonkey, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Xpost—I know myself that reconciling for the sake of spending xmas together and then splitting again also leads to September birthdays.

Beth Parker, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:19 (sixteen years ago) link

That sounds wise.

What happened to aimurchie by the way? I just saw her on an old thread. All okay or did she just get tired of ILX?

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I was wondering that, too. She might have gotten one of those jobs she was thinking about.

Beth Parker, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:31 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought you had a year to give wedding presents. I like it wait it out. If they split up you save some money.

Beth Parker, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:32 (sixteen years ago) link

You have a year for thank you notes. Don't know about gifts.

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:34 (sixteen years ago) link

The tradition of giving wedding gifts dates from a time when the bride and groom were just setting out on their own and actually needed things to set up a household. Now most people who get married have been living together for years and have all the dishes and linens they need. Weddings are just a greedball shakedown.

Beth Parker, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I have spoken. Now I must go to work, before our houseguests come back from their walk and catch me here.

Beth Parker, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay, I'll buy and post after wedding. If it's a good party. Otherwise tough shit ppl!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks Ms M I didn't want to be the first person to point out new year's eve + drunk = september birthdays!

Add me to the list. Spencer turns 10 today!

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

And happy birthday, Megan!

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Woah! I'm staying in this year. Alone.

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

OMG happy bday Spencer! Sorry forgot to say it!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

*Begins thinking about NYE options*

Ms Misery, Friday, 14 September 2007 15:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Aw thanks! He's totally stoked to not only be in the double digits, but also because we're taking him and his best friend to Disneyland tomorrow.

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Souvenirs anyone?

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:15 (sixteen years ago) link

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks all for the help re. wedding gift crisis.

Happy birthday to M3g4n and Sp3nc3r!

Good weekend everyone!

kv_nol, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:36 (sixteen years ago) link

You too, kv!

luna, Friday, 14 September 2007 16:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Weddings are just a greedball shakedown.

I knew a couple who went around a very nice store with specal barcode reading guns that help select their registry. They shot more stuff (and really expensive stuff too) than a drunken Yosemite Sam at a varmint convention. I was so appalled I considered not going to their wedding.

Happy b-day lunason and Megan!!

Michael White, Friday, 14 September 2007 17:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy Birthday Spencer!

Onimio, you and the misses seemed to be on a pretty regular conception schedule there.

It's become something of a running gag that I seem to only get laid as a Christmas/New Year treat.

We had 5 wee baby girls in the house today and Megan was 2nd oldest!

onimo, Friday, 14 September 2007 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm seeing a trip to London in my future. To see Patrick Stewart in Macbeth, preferably.

accentmonkey, Saturday, 15 September 2007 10:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to see a trip to the UK in my future. :( Come on lottery!
