titchy, the sessions CD is probably what you should get if you want a mix.

Cesaria Evora - Angola (Remix) for a start, also
Throbbing Gristle - Hot on the Heels of Love (re-edit)

I am using your worlds, Thursday, 22 May 2008 13:12 (5 years ago) Permalink

I can see why his less danceable/more ambient stuff isn't on it (esp. with that re-recording of Landcruising from a few years back - altho you can still pogo to Science Fiction or whatever) but most of my fave CC stuff is like that (Televised Green Smoke et al)

otherwise, Paperclip Man, Jam The Box, the Ultramarine, Tori Amos, Coldcut, DJ Q and Hot Lizard remixes, that 'Angola' remix maybe, 'Think Twice', 4 MY PEEPZ...

blueski, Thursday, 22 May 2008 13:15 (5 years ago) Permalink

Angola is on it.

the mix really only showcases his remixes from this decade. there are some older tracks of his own on there but they're only there for context and to make the mix flow.

jed_, Thursday, 22 May 2008 13:19 (5 years ago) Permalink

So many options Titchy, whether it's the 69 comp, the Paperclip People album, the rerecorded Landcruising (better than the original), the DJ Kicks, More Songs About Food & Revolutionary Art or Sessions. Andy K always checks for the double mix-cd he did for React a few years ago, but I've never quite connected with it.

Tim F, Thursday, 22 May 2008 13:20 (5 years ago) Permalink

Angola wasn't on my version - but I know there were differences between the promo, retail and download releases.

Never heard the new version of Delia and Gavin for this reason, too.

why are people recommending things that aren't The Secret Tapes Of Dr. Eich?

El Tomboto, Thursday, 22 May 2008 15:55 (5 years ago) Permalink

I mean if you want a stone cold classic from one end to the other, that's your album. The filler on Dr. Eich comes only at the very beginning and the very end & it's consistently great throughout, the rest of his releases not so much

Am I the only one who enjoyed the Detroit Experiment? (well, parts thereof)

ecuador_with_a_c, Thursday, 22 May 2008 16:01 (5 years ago) Permalink

listening to sessions now.

its very good. i like.

never liked the detroit experiment that much. never thought CC's work with herbie hancock was what it should have been either.

titchyschneiderMk2, Thursday, 22 May 2008 19:42 (5 years ago) Permalink

sessions is the shit actually. fuck, ive missed out on many years of potential techno-liking.

This ReComposed thing is great.

Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:10 (4 years ago) Permalink

it demands patience but it is a good listening experience. i wish i was more familiar with the source material.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:13 (4 years ago) Permalink

You've heard "Bolero" believe me. This sounds very little to nothing like it.

Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:16 (4 years ago) Permalink

you're right, just checked it out.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:27 (4 years ago) Permalink

Some of ReComposed sounds ok and some of it just sounds like the Craig & Von Oswald were fiddling with loops and either unsure where to go with them/bored. Very little fire in this collaboration, I think.

Capitaine Jay Vee, Friday, 31 October 2008 22:52 (4 years ago) Permalink

no stateside release unfortunately.

tricky, Friday, 31 October 2008 23:06 (4 years ago) Permalink

Yeah I guess there is an issue with the copywrite on the pieces. :(

Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 23:06 (4 years ago) Permalink

we'll be getting this in on CD and LP at amoeba in the next few weeks (next, i think) but It's not gonna be cheap, should be around $30 for both formats.

as for the music, I love it. best listened to in one sitting!

mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 1 November 2008 00:18 (4 years ago) Permalink

oh and if you're *not* in SF or LA you should be able to get it through Forced Exposure.

i liked 'at les' but felt disappointed in 'domina'. i wish cc had used more effects on some of the instruments or participated a bit more in general but overall i think it was a great experiment. i'd love to see a show like that.

Love the Jonny L one. The one that brings back big memories for me is his epic remix of Incognito's Out Of the Storm. I was big into Gilles Peterson's Kiss show in 1996 and this helped me transition into techno. It's all about 8m45s.

Also 2011 excellence:

I guess it's an "edit" because the changes are quite subtle, but extremely effective.

It's being billed as a 69 live show, so I'm guessing anything he's done under the 69 alias would be the place to start?
