― turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:23 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah, "I asked God why he let these killas live and take my homeboy's son away" gets me every time. amazing, amazing verse.
― original bgm, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:34 (thirteen years ago) link
I love almost everything UGK has ever released but that verse, and that song ultimately elevate Ridin' Dirty over the rest.
― turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:36 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah, it's powerful stuff.
that "MURDER" sample right after this somber track is always so jarring!
ridin dirty miiiiiight be my fave as well but I always go back-and-forth between it and super tight. basically, the one I happen to be listening to is my fave.
― original bgm, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:50 (thirteen years ago) link
<3 Super Tight too. the double album also is in close competition.
― turn in yer badge (San Te), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 13:52 (thirteen years ago) link
every verse is total A game stuff on "one day" though. even 3-2 and I'm not even really sure who that dude is.
double album is great but I prefer the way bun sounds on the earlier records. also, no jazze pha.

what's the deal with the new Pimp C posthumous album. anybody heard anything off of it? gonna pick it up today.

It's streaming here:http://hypetrak.com/2010/10/pimp-c-the-naked-soul-of-sweet-jones-full-album-stream/From my one cursory listen, it's not very good. Needless to say, Drake makes an appearance.
― Number None, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 14:37 (thirteen years ago) link
fukkin hate that song with drake.

album is solid. the Drake song is by far the worst but the rest is pretty vintage Pimp C with guests he usually guested with while he was alive. even the production was very in line with what he mighta done if he himself produced it.

Sounds too much like a posthumous album, rapping doesn't fit with beats.
"even the production was very in line with what he mighta done if he himself produced it."
Huh ? not really.

you sure you heard the right album? the latter point I can see questioning, but I didn't see any of the former at all
― it takes a nation of will.i.ams to hold us back (San Te), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 14:01 (thirteen years ago) link
as far as the production other than a few 'clubby synthy' tracks, a lot of it was some of that Texas soul'n'funk that he liked.
― it takes a nation of will.i.ams to hold us back (San Te), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 14:02 (thirteen years ago) link
the drake track, "since the 90's", "midnight", "hit the parkig lot", "colors" & even "massacre" are not really close to pimp's production style. That's half of the songs.
― sisilafami, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 14:24 (thirteen years ago) link
they're not note perfect but they're not that off in left field, some of them sound like what the guest producers did on the Underground Kingz album. they fit his style to me, *shrug*, it's not like the case of Bun B imo
