Apparently she also wrote one about ghosts or something called Spook, but I haven't read that one.

tehresa, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 04:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes, A. kept walking around the house reading Bonk and laughing and raving about it... meanwhile, I had to read Dimensional Analysis for Meds. Bonk was at therefore at the top of my list!

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 05:45 (fifteen years ago) link

obviously the only appropriate follow up to watching this movie is to continue drinking and watch the running man

wilter, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 05:57 (fifteen years ago) link

i want to make sure that everyone is aware that the dance sequences in the running man were choreographed by PAULA ABDUL

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 07:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me to be brutally honest.

wilter, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 07:46 (fifteen years ago) link

also, had forgotten about mick fleetwood and dweezil zappa in semi-important roles

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 07:50 (fifteen years ago) link

There are dance sequences in The Running Man? Lord, my memory is shot to hell.

How is that going to even fit in my Netflix queue?

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 08:48 (fifteen years ago) link

strange fact: dance "the running man" not featured in film "the running man"

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 08:50 (fifteen years ago) link

i need to go lie down now in order to tell people with construction equipment what to do in 3 hours

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 08:50 (fifteen years ago) link

xp Well, but you could fix that with a video camera yourself!

Although I guess I don't know that you could fix more than one or two copies. ;_;

I want a geyser of feces to erupt from the pit and coat all the horrified children. Sure, that goes against engineering and physics, but this is Hollywood and I want my magic.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:25 (fifteen years ago) link

yep, thats going in your FBI file

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Because they will turn to me for consultation on my big ideas. First, you will need a spiral on-ramp to nowhere. Then you will need a giant truck loaded with identity theft. Do you have an experimental hovering fighter jet? Good, because dude’s gonna jump on it from the collapsing on-ramp to nowhere. You’re welcome, America.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:35 (fifteen years ago) link

So fucking great to have you back here.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:38 (fifteen years ago) link

God, I'm also happy to see FB here. YAY!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:40 (fifteen years ago) link

John: take pictures of that yard! (I am hoping to come see it FINALLY after I get back from vacation...)

RR - the "lollies" look GORGEOUS!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 13:41 (fifteen years ago) link

So looking forward to your visit. When I'm done being flat-ass broke, I will come to you.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 14:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, I was just saying to A. last night that "we've meant to visit Boston for 15 years and we still haven't managed it..." LAME

Although allegedly I will be able to have a job when this "nursing school" nonsense is finally over.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 14:11 (fifteen years ago) link

(Sadly, right now I literally have to think, "can I afford to drive to the Twin Cities?" FUN! Especially since my classes are, you know, IN THE TWIN CITIES)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 14:12 (fifteen years ago) link

right now I literally have to think, "can I afford to drive to the Twin Cities?"

Gas prices are hitting you that hard? Yeesh.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 14:24 (fifteen years ago) link

if i can find the cable to attach my camera to the computer, you guys are totally getting some hott back hoe action

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 16:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Is it a CAT, a JCB, a Hitachi or what?

Ed, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 16:14 (fifteen years ago) link

xp to Ned - yes. They are eating up a lot of my student loans. Gas is about $4.00 a gallon and I have to make the trip between 3 and 5 times a week. We'd be doing great on just A's salary if I wasn't in school. In the long run, it will be a good thing; I'll be able to get a decent job, too. In the short term, it is suXoring.

Also, I may be asking to borrow money from my parents for school because of some b.s. new law about how many credits I would have had to take last year in order to get student loans this year. They won't give me the loan money until I get to 24 credits. I don't need any more credits (or have time for them). Plus it makes NO sense to take out more loan money for more classes in order to get loan money.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 16:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm happy to hear that John is getting great backhoe action this morning. I'm sure that is cheering him.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 16:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Live the dream, son. *sniff*

Sara: UGH. That sounds like hell! Can you sic any of our lawyer friends on someone?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 16:36 (fifteen years ago) link

If I thought it would help, I would create a very scary team of lawyers. But I don't think that even they can change moronic laws. I just have to get through the program and get a job. I could get a job as a CNA if I wanted to give up sleep and hear a lot of complaints from my kids about how I never see them...

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Really, I shouldn't complain; it's not like we don't have food or anything and we are even on a very nice vacation right now. It is just frustrating to have to make three round trips to the hospital for clinical weekends and pay $60 for that privilege. Not to mention parking. And expensive hospital food, which SUCKS.

I'm terrified to discover what my books will cost for this term. They were about $1,200 for the first term. (For TWO classes!)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:22 (fifteen years ago) link

(I spend a lot of time being mad at myself for not going to nursing school before I had kids. Which is a huge waste of time, but I can't seem to not be annoyed with myself).

ANYWAY I'm sure it will alllllll work out in the end...

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, I'm mad at myself for never going back to business school, if it's any consolation (not that I've actually needed to but it would be a nice break from working)...

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:10 (fifteen years ago) link

It's sort of consoling. Part of it is me being angry at myself for listening to my mother's "you don't have enough STAMINA to be a nurse" b.s. when I was in college the first time.

I love her, but omg she can be so hurtful. Also, pretty off base (at least so far I kind of find what we've been doing energizing).

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Also, I had NO IDEA you ever wanted to go to business school!

I guess I would be more shocked if you suddenly revealed a lifelong desire to be a dentist or something, but still.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:25 (fifteen years ago) link

An M.B.A. would actually make a lot of sense, though.
