Definitely great and way more varied than Tyrannosaurus Hives, but I still might prefer that album's non-stop caffeine blast, too early to tell.

Bu "variety", I mean they have a track that's just a 50's organ and drum machine, one with piano and handclaps, a funky Prince-type track (produced by Pharrell, but thankfully not featuring), a track with some cool female vocals on the chorus and a cool 50's type track.
So it's still The Hives, but they at least tryed some new stuff and managed to bring some of their best hooks yet. Great record.

Went on their wiki page to hear of any news. Apparently they are going to record this coming January. I should listen to The Black and White album again.

Channeling MC5 energy in Stockholm a couple nights ago. I love how the camera starts shaking like crazy as the crowd goes nuts when the song kicks up full blast. COME ON!

Swedish garage rockers The Hives returned this week with an entertaining new video and familiar sounding new song. Have a listen. No, it’s not just you that thinks it sounds a bit like ELO’s 1979 hit Don’t Bring Me Down. Even the Hives do.“We made the song, and we were really happy with the song,” says singer Pelle Almqvist. “But months later we realised that it sounded a lot like ELO’s ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, so we contacted Jeff Lynne and basically gave him a cut off the songwriting. It wasn’t intentional though. Somehow subconsciously that ELO track was probably where it came from.”
