I think China Beach lasted into the '90s

This thread is a little hot-chick-centric, methinks. And nobody's yet posted the two ultimate moody-teen bait dudes of the 90s?

Rachel Leigh Cook:

I watched "Carpool" and especially "Tom and Huck" just because she was in it. My big crush of 1995-1996. short story: Four or five years ago my mom invited me to go with her to a fashion show, but I turned it down because I thought fashion was for the birds (and the gays). Well it so happens that RLC was at the show. The lesson to be learned: never be homophobic and it's ok to go to fashion shows man.

Ah yeah, I don't think "teenage Manics fan" was a big thing in the States. Rite of passage over here, pretty much.

Rachael Leigh Cook, a million times yes.

Jessica Alba

Really the entire female cast of the Secret World of Alex Mack is eligible, but Jessica Alba was esp. noteworthy as the bitchy girlfriend to the guy Alex was crushing on. In the same way some people are always hip to cool bands long before they become officially trendy and embraced by pitchfork etc, I always had a knack for noticing a girl was esp. hot before anybody else back in the day, and I have not lost my edge at all imo -- still have great taste, the kids will not catch up to me ever.

Alba's bitchiness on the show prevented a full blown crush fwiw.

xpost see, I on the nerdy Jewel Staite crush bandwagon long before them

My boss called me in to work today unexpectedly and I am without my laptop and headphones, so I hope my boss doesn't mind her recent google history being filled with searches for 90s teen actresses. It's her fault I'm killing time this way tbf

ADDITIONAL GIRL WHO DATED ERIC MATTHEWS ON BOY MEETS WORLD THAT I SHAMEFULLY FORGOT ABOUT

Dina from Salute Your Shorts aka Heidi Lucas

There was a time back in the middle of the last decade when Salute Your Shorts was easily the best "ah man I can't believe I remember that show!" 90s tv pop culture reference you could make to an 80s baby. The show featured all these actors who appeared throughout the 90s in other kids movies and tv shows (one actress was the voice of Chuckie on Rugrats iirc). Anyway, one of my earliest crushes, and a natural Eric Matthews girlfriend:

I thought I was running out of girls I crushed on or remember as being hot from the 1990s, but I underestimated my young libido.

TAG TEAM: Jodie Sweeten and Marla Sokoloff

For a long time I couldn't understand how Full House, by all means a horrible show, could suck me into watching it almost every day after school circa 1993-1995. The answer: facial feature for facial feature this is perhaps the most physically attractive sitcom family ever assembled. That's the only explanation for how this show continued for eight seasons.

The highlight for me was probably Jodie Sweeten and her best friend Marla Sokoloff (the actress and her character so forgotten by time that I could only figure out how to find a picture of her by searching "Full house actress dated james franco"). If James Franco dated it it has to be good, right?

Cunga, Saturday, 23 January 2010 21:28 (3 years ago) Permalink

I know Marla Sokoloff from The Practice, but must have stopped watching Full House by the time she ever got on there.
