He's right. They're very good.

I was going to wear a sparkley "Miss Alaska" sash as part of my costume.

I still like your idea of getting a pregnant teenager to follow you around. I bet not everyone will have one of those!

damn, I forgot about that part.

So I hear tell this Bachmann person is looking more ridiculous by the minute. I am happy about this.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 October 2008 02:25 (fifteen years ago) link

She is quite embarrassing. (She agreed to go on Hardball but didn't know what the show was...?! REALLY?!)

The woman who sits next to me in school is in Bachmann's district. She called and got some "no, Bachmann didn't really say that" line of b.s. and then called back after she watched the footage and wound up with an answering machine for this second call (apparently they have been getting a lot of calls). She left a message saying, "how DARE you lie to me about this..." I go to nursing school with some awesome people!

That makes me so sad. And worried. What if, after all this time, lingbert remains unmollified? It haunts my darkest dreams.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Wednesday, 22 October 2008 21:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Ah Bachmann, you scamp:

A Republican source has confirmed to Election Central that the NRCC is indeed pulling all its advertising for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), whose antics since her McCarthyist rant on Hardball have quickly put this once-safe incumbent in serious danger. Several hundred-thousand dollars worth of TV time had previously been reserved on Bachmann's behalf, but now it has all been cancelled.

Bear in mind that Bachmann was heavily favored to win re-election before this whole mess happened, but since then her Democratic opponent has received $1.3 million in online donations and another $1 million in commitments from the DCCC. The national party is now directing its attention to other races.

Bachmann could still potentially win, as this district voted 57%-42% for George W. Bush in 2004. But she's now on her own. It's a rare thing for a national party to totally cut off an incumbent, so this should give you an idea of just how unpopular Bachmann is among Washington Republicans right now.

How can you be so cruel to someone who fell into a trap by that man among men, Chris Matthews.

Of course, Warren Buffett asked Chris Matthews today if he would have gone the transsexual route, so hey. Arnold was there too.

I'm desperately trying to stop myself from making some kind of "but didn't you date her in college" crap with John, and I'm totally unable to do so. That being said, she's definitely too old for John anyway.

I have to spend from 6 to 10 pm orienting to a new hospital floor. This should be fine, except for the part where I have no good food options.

Good luck on your test, tza!

nice!

man. when i was applying, my adviser told me graduates of this program generally had good jobs by the point i'm at now, and that when they graduated, they were making enough money to pay off student loans quickly (or at least not struggle to make loan payments). this is not the case now. stupid economy. i know it's not her fault, but i feel cheated.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 October 2008 16:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Oooh good question. For some reason I thought that Sunny was just reacting to your crazy photo, Ned.

Sunny - do you have an ear infection? Cuz those are THE WORST!

DC Purrman (sunny successor), Thursday, 23 October 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Did they give you antibiotics for it or are they making you try to wait it out? I had ear infections secondary to influenza when I was pregnant with my son and OMG THEY HURT. They did give me antibiotics, though.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 18:22 (fifteen years ago) link

jordan has had a weird ear-thing for a couple of weeks now. he says it's a pain inside his ear, going down to his jaw. it's been driving him crazy but of course he won't go see a dr.

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Thursday, 23 October 2008 18:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Huh. Could be an ear infection. Is it getting worse? A lot of time MDs will just try to have you wait it out without antibiotics anyway. (I really have mixed feelings about this although I understand their reasoning...)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:13 (fifteen years ago) link

no... it sort of disappeared and then came back, and now i think it's gone again. the way he described it didn't really sound like an ear infection.

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, I don't know. Sounds weird. But I would probably go to the doctor, because sometimes you can have infections elsewhere and the pain refers to odd spots (like your jaw). Could it be a toothache kind of thing? Or maybe an absess in a tooth that needs a root canal...?

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:33 (fifteen years ago) link

he has a dentist apptmt at the end of this month, so i'll guess we'll find out...

Assuming valid numbers, then dang:

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., left Indianapolis earlier this morning, bound for Hawaii to visit his ailing grandmother.

...

Looking out at a sea of 35,000 people who crammed a downtown park on a chilly day, the Democratic presidential candidate noted blue-collar and manufacturing workers in the audience who waited hours to see him.

Just thinking about how McCain drew about 2500 people near St. Louis on Monday in comparison re: weekday rallies.
