y'know it's shitty tht glasgow council cutback spending on the roads (ugh potholes) to help w/their commonwealth games budget but on the plus side VELODROME!!!

coz (webinar), Saturday, 28 November 2009 07:55 (fourteen years ago) link

Thxs Wilter for fixing my pic, very nice of you.

I have a couple of these classix road bikes from my racing days (Cat 2 on road and track, hello Cutty, hello Kissena club Al Toefield days, hello Kissena velodrome when it had huge holes all over and was like a moonscape). I messengered full time for 3 years b4 stopping to work at Habitat.

Wilter I don't feel love for ur bike but if anyone feels love for the classic late 70's early 80's Italian racer let me know. Freewheels and all. I have cancer. Someone is going to get them, better an aficianado than the Salvation Army, if you know what I mean. For Campy's sake :)

PS you're not going to get them right away. I might still ride them a little bit, though the area where I live SUCKS for a quiet ride with hills every which way.

PS. I have a whole box of awesome vintage equipment, Campy record hi-flange track hubs (36 hole unfortunately). Chainrings. BINDA straps looking for a good non-hipster home. Get in touch if you're interested. I love ILX ppl.

wow soviet. do you know jar3d bund3?

The masi looks beautiful as does naus's blurry bike. More and more I think my next bike would be a really thin tubed classic racer.

I don't know him. I knew a lot of racers and messengers tho, from back in the day. Hincapie was in my club and we raced together frequently because women and juniors did. George and his bro Richard. He had the pro tips even then, baby pro. Some hard-core bike riders in that group. Me and one of them did a Nat Geo special, I wish I could get a decent copy of it. They filmed the same thing over and over until I just wished I was riding for money instead of the stupid documentary. I finally hit a pedestrian and did a fair endo, that's what they were looking for. I swore to never do that again though that Spike Lee guy was shadowing me and asking me to. Not any other girl messengers at that time, at least not in the winter. There was a one-eyed (had 2 but could only see out of 1 ) racer 3d le0n4rd who was like a street fighter in a road race. (Now I get sued for libel he is prob. an atty, you will have to defend me.)

You don't want to ride next to any one-eyed racers, they can't see you 2 good.

Uh we are on the wrong thread: WDYBLL. Not BIKE GEEZER WDYD.

I have a not-as-nice Guerciotti a little more modern. Have to get a new pic sharing account, my husb. has filled ours up w/pics of his recently-died mom. Christ. Will do ASAP and sorry for OT.

Soviet is a long-time lurker who got motivated to post by Cutty's NN thread. Many boards, and I know everything you want me to know about your trip to Africa dear sir. Slow poster though. I refuse to ILX at work, U all are so more interesting I would never get any work done. Who wants some nice vintage bike bits? You will have to pass a test on Campy chainring-bolt spacing.

How does the Campy vintage Super Record chainring bolt spacing and chainring-size availability compare to the vintage Campy C-record? That is the test, gentlemen. I have made it easy for you and please forgive if it takes me a few days to respond.

Oh cancer gives you total absolution about bad hair days at work, bad clothes days too. I work in a corporate environment and am playin' it for all it's worth, so don't feel too bad for me. I get to dress like the janitor (and rock the new Annie Lennox hairway) which makes me happy. Look for me on the next WDYLL if I can figure out how to post a pic.

PS. What is this "Shimano" you speak of ?

;)

Thxs Hunt3r. I like your commuter bike.

la monte jung (cutty), Thursday, 10 December 2009 12:02 (fourteen years ago) link

funnily enough I got offered one of those for free (!!) from a friend at work but it was far too massive for me :(

cozwn, Thursday, 10 December 2009 12:07 (fourteen years ago) link

smash meaning "go on a date with, maybe to a french place in the village", not smash destroy.

caek, Thursday, 10 December 2009 12:13 (fourteen years ago) link

ride meaning "take it easy with, gliding along country paths in the glassy winter air", not a sex thing.

picked it up from the shop today - if i could find camera i'd have pix. daresay i won't be needing another road bike for a long time, so awesome. light but solid if you know what i mean.

i am not liking the (speedplay) pedals i got, however. they're the light action model and there's just too much play for my liking.

I've joined the club, guys. Got such a good deal on it off Craiglist that I worried it might be stolen. Now I just have to get rid of my Diamondback mtn monster.

what means these: "bum bars", or "dui bars"?

flipping yr bars like that is an urban signifier meaning "destitute" or "I lost my drivers license. again"
