I AM going to do some mulching, after my disappointing hummus.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:24 (sixteen years ago) link

hopelessly titillated = blue balls?

Yeah. If some woman is going to shake her endowments in my face, I don't want it to be for money and I want to stand a chance that the prurience she has thus engendered stands a fighting chance of turning into actual fcuking. Otherwise it's just sort of grim and lapdances, incidentally, have to be one of the grimmest things ever.

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Endowments. Excellent.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Mine aren't so excellent.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 18:56 (sixteen years ago) link

I HAVE TO GO TO WORK!!!!!! ROSE BEDS ARE UNMULCHED!!! OPPORTUNITIES FOR $$$$$$ ARE KNOCKING!!!! DAMN YOU, ILX, FOR BEING NOT-BORING TODAY.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 19:19 (sixteen years ago) link

damn me for being even slubbier than usual today!

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 19:21 (sixteen years ago) link

(Quick, while Beth is now away, let us resume our boringness!)

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 19:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I just made chocolate chip cookies for G. And burnt them. Because Wheezy was laying on me.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 19:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I addressed a bunch of envelopes, and then went to the post office. And then had to readdress everything in Priority Mail envelopes, and had to fill our customs forms. And then I found out that I had to COMPLETELY REDO THE CUSTOMS FORMS BECAUSE THE NEW INTERIM POSTMASTER WHO IS A FUCKING MORON TOLD ME THE WRONG CUSTOMS FORM INITIALLY. And then I had a little mini-meltdown. And then I redid all the customs forms.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I drove off to go to work and then decided fuckit, it's too late. So I went to the grocery store and then the farm stand to buy GOLD BUD PEACHES, which we wouldn't be able to afford if at least ONE member of our marriage did some fucking work once in a while. Which makes me a kept woman. A ho. An ho?

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I've work tomorrow. Yep.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I'LL work tomorrow.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I did a bunch of work this morning, but now I'm eating a sandwich and I don't feel like working anymore. Thanks all y'all for being here to entertain me this afternoon. (That is to say, I just caught up on the thread, and it was nice to have something to read while eating.)

luna, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:29 (sixteen years ago) link

I'll work more (as in more than some) tomorrow too Beth. We can support each other in this. Whenever one of us sees the other online, give a prompt dressing-down.

I should have showered and dressed ages ago. I feel much better.

Hey Luna!

Rock, sorry about crappy post office.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:30 (sixteen years ago) link

You should post more Wheezy photos, MM.

Don't you love my dad's stove btw? By a weird twist of face he's renting the same place he had for years and he was talking about trying to get rid of the stove and everyone told him he was insane. It works. It's classic. It's PINK!

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:52 (sixteen years ago) link

If he's going to get rid of it, he at least needs to make sure it goes to a good home. I don't want to see that pink stove out on the sidewalk with its own thread dedicated to it.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 20:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Where is this pink stove of which you speak?

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I want a pink stove!

luna, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I didn't know I did until just now. Does Warren need a roommate?

luna, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Luna, if you asked him he'd say pretty much what you just said about the stove.

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Fair enough. I don't do windows, though.

luna, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Neither does he, nor when I lived with him, dishes or laundry.

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh wow, what a pretty stove! The pot is flipping its lid!

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 21:36 (sixteen years ago) link

I noticed that too, Beth! Sadly it's merely hanging on some lid-rack thing.

Michael White, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 22:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I want the fire extinguisher to be repainted baby blue.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I also thought the pot was flipping its lid. Did the stove come pink?

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 01:01 (sixteen years ago) link

I want a pot lid rack like that. Bending down to have to get my heavy Le Creuset pots and their lids out of the press is doing my back a mischief.

I also wish I had one of those plate racks that hangs over your sink so you never ever need to dry your dishes. Sadly my sink is in front of the window, so I can't have one. Sadface.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 07:09 (sixteen years ago) link

co-ed showers are cool

Dear god, my mind is sullied by porn discussion earlier!

Yeah. If some woman is going to shake her endowments in my face, I don't want it to be for money and I want to stand a chance that the prurience she has thus engendered stands a fighting chance of turning into actual fcuking.

Oh Mr White, you are a card.

We thank you for it though!

I need to start thinking about purchasing an oven. And a washing machine. and a tumble drier. And I think I'm going to curl up into a ball and cry a little re. cost of buying a house. Worst part is I still need to actually find one!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 08:19 (sixteen years ago) link

I have a fridge you can have when you get your house. It is in perfectly good working order, you just need to collect it from me. Seriously, I have two fridges.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:09 (sixteen years ago) link

I realise that statement has less of an impact than "I have two heads", but in this day and age it is a bit decadent.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I might take you up on that accentmonkey! That said, last time I went to Discount Electrical they gave a big reduction for the amount we were buying and the fact that we were buying in cash.

I am trying to find a chartered surveyor. You wouldn't know of one.

My parents have two as well: One for food in kitchen and one for Beerzlol in the garage. That's what you should do with the second!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks for the offer by the way, I sounded like such an ungrateful git there :(

kv_nol, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:23 (sixteen years ago) link

hmm? No you don't, don't be mental.

I have one for food and one for beerzlol, but am trying to get rid of the beerzlol one because there are only two of us in the house now and only one of us eats at home, so there's really no justification for two fridges.

I am going to clear it out and unplug it, anyway.

And, on a related note, I know it's very passive aggressive to bitch about people from one corner of your life to people in another corner, but my friends and their carbon nazi carry-on are really starting to irritate me. When did it become okay to just nag people about their lifestyles? I know that I should be cutting down, and my friend who is being nagged knows that he should be cutting down, and I am, and presumably he is, working out ways to do that. In the meantime, having your bloody friends going "you shouldn't be driving to work" or "you shouldn't be driving to the supermarket" etc. is really annoying and unhelpful.

It's like when the smoking ban came in and suddenly it was okay to complain to your friends who smoke about how appalling a habit it is. It's not the thing itself that gets to me, really, as much as they're just taking the opportunity to jump on a bandwagon. Like, a bigger boy said you shouldn't do it, and now they're standing behind the bigger boy going "yeah! He says you shouldn't, and that's what I think too!"

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 11:49 (sixteen years ago) link

God I'd love a smoke... What's wrong with me at the moment! I haven't smoked in years :(

Also when people start going on ask them to define carbon footprint etc. They'll be amazed at how little they actually understand re. political soundbites.

there's really no justification for two fridges.

Buy more beerzlol!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 12:08 (sixteen years ago) link

For a second I was so confused Trish. I couldn't figure out why your friends didn't think you should drive to work. Buy a Hummer, that will show them. Or better yet move to Texas. No worries here. In fact if you are walking somewhere people will go out of their way to try and run you off the road!

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 12:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm so bad that I drive from the post office to the grocery store, which just entails driving to the other end of the same parking lot. And it's a small parking lot. But I drive a Corolla, so it's all good. Funny thing is, I'm mad for exercise when it's time to walk the dog. WALKIES!!!! TIME FOR WALKIES!!!!
He can't keep up with me any more, poor old guy. He's good for an initial sprint, but he soon gets very pokey and out of breath, and I still want to walk fast and really make my leg-muscles scream for mercy. He used to be tireless. That's why beachcombing is good now—I slow down to his speed.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:24 (sixteen years ago) link

Poor puppy!

I don't have a car so do little driving except when I can use G.'s (for errands). This has got to stop. I've got to get off of my ass and get the car situation sorted out.

BTW, I think I'm going to drop my class.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesus, I walked my dogs for two hours this morning and they still had the energy to chase next door's cat at the end of it.

Buy more beerzlol!

Oh yeah!

Ms. M, why?

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't use the car much as my wife needs it as there's no train route to her work and she usually does all the dropping kids off stuff in the morning. I've started walking to the station in the mornings if I get up early enough. It's fun walking the streets as 6am, though I don't imagine I'll enjoy it so much when it gets dark.

I have planned some walks using this: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ Haven't actually walked anywhere yet but I'm planning to :)

What's a brisk walking pace? About 4mph or thereabouts? I've worked out a nice walk round some farmland next to my house that comes in at nearly 6 miles which I figure is about 1.5 to 2 hours taking the terrain into account.

onimo, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Is it the math class, Sam?
My son wants to drop a biology class. He's getting red-flag not-gonna-pass feelings, because there's a lot of chemistry involved. Poor baby. I would love to take some classes, in theory, but WHAT IF THEY HURT MY BRANE????

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Take easy ones.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I walk pretty fast which is good for calorie-burning but hard on my knee.

Ms. M, why?

Our first exam is next Wednesday, the same day I demo the two sites which are being launched at the end of the month to their respective directors. There's a lot of work to be done and I've been working at home every night. I don't have the time right now to do the homework, study etc. and do my job. It would be different if it was a humanities class or something.

And I can't make a poor grade. So there it is. Next semester for the precalculus.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:46 (sixteen years ago) link

The walk I love to take skirts around my neighbor's farm, climbing, then plunges downhill into the woods, crossing a stream where there are always little fish. Where do they come from, up in the hills on a small island? Do they work their way upstream from the brackish ponds that the streams empty into? They can't have evolved there from single-celled organisms!
I don't know how fast I walk, but I'm fast as a motherfucker. I was experiencing weakness in my left leg—it was shakey on the clutch pedal—so I started strengthening exercises. Now I have the hammies of Schwarzenegger and can climb hills like I'm in some super-powered dream. It'll probably come crashing to a halt and I'll end up like my doggy, but now it's fun. We're going to Vermont at the end of the month to do some serious day hikes.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I love the math/walking exposting.
The way I do math bears no resemblance to the way I walk.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 13:53 (sixteen years ago) link

The way I do math bears more of a resemblance to the way I show up for work.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:07 (sixteen years ago) link

In my case, both are slow, laborious, and somewhat messy, but I get done what I need to get done.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:08 (sixteen years ago) link

They can't have evolved there from single-celled organisms!

Maybe the eggs got washed downstream and now the reproduce there?

The way I do math resembles my obv. sluggish work ethic.

Hey Beth, we aren't helping each other out! Get off ILX and get to work, woman!

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I will, I will!
There's nowhere for the eggs to wash downstream from. These streams ("Tiasquam River" one of them is proudly called, though it is never more than four feet across and ten inches deep!) start from mushy spring areas in the hills. They never go dry—always running even in the droughtiest summer. The Tiasquam River crosses and re-crosses under my road. Donald and I are going trace its path after the first frost, when ticks and poison ivy are gone. We are both obsessed with our little river. There's another one, too, but it doesn't call itself a river. It's the Mill Brook.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 14:30 (sixteen years ago) link

Ms M, if it's what you need to do temporarily so be it. I wouldn't give up though!

Beth that is hardcore!
