4OD is very quixotic when it comes to putting some of their programmes up. Sometimes I've waited two days for a Daily Show episode.

Yeah best episode yet - bit of a Desmond-from-Lost vibe going on there. Also Nathan is hilarious, loved the explanation of how he got arrested. My guess is that his power is he's invincible.
Was the dude who arrested Curtis the same guy who played the policeman in the Blink episode of Dr Who? Does he only play coppers in weird time-travel episodes or something?
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Sunday, 6 December 2009 12:45 (3 years ago) Permalink
I was trying to work out what Nathan's superpower might be.
For some of the others it struck me that their superpower is a development of something that they can do anyway...
Alisha's pulling powerSimon's invisibility
Cutis's time travel kind of makes in a most iffy way to do with his speed on the race track - running faster than time or some bullshit...Kelly's mind reading - ?
Make any sense?
― krakow, Monday, 7 December 2009 20:43 (3 years ago) Permalink
If you watch the opening titles, there's an effect against all of them as you see them. You can make sense of all of them except Nathan, who seems to have something that looks like a wolf. Is this just a reference to his Mum's bf?
― Never in, Kuyt (aldo), Monday, 7 December 2009 21:45 (3 years ago) Permalink
Yeah a bit, that occurred to me when I saw the reaction of the probation officer after his car got nicked, like the storm amplified his anger and turned him into a homicidal maniac.
Curtis = something to do with regret maybe? This episode stressed that quite a lot.
I had no idea what time of day this was supposed to be taking place - it was daylight, but they were out clubbing. Nathan's dad complained about being called out in the middle of the night, which could make it about 5am which is no time for a pair of nice middle-class probation workers to be out bowling. It didn't seem to make a great deal of sense.
― Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Monday, 7 December 2009 21:48 (3 years ago) Permalink
My guess is that his power is he's invincible.
I thought that too, when he was the miracle survivor in the alternative timeline (though another explanation is he managed to escape and hide and left the others to die and lied about it afterwards).
― blue_eyes chrono_trigger dirty engineer glasses (onimo), Tuesday, 8 December 2009 09:18 (3 years ago) Permalink
No, Nathan said that he was found barely alive underneath the bodies of the others and had plenty of stitches on his face to back that up.
Alternate timeline suggests the probation officer was a ticking time bomb anyway.
― ☜ no, over there (suzy), Tuesday, 8 December 2009 10:13 (3 years ago) Permalink
So he can be injured but can't die maybe?
Nathan's an excellent character, you laugh at the zings but completely understand everyone wanting to punch him. If I was Beverly I'd have smacked him with a bowling pin.
I can't remember what Nathan's mum sounded like but I think she was English(?) and his dad is Press Gang dude with a London accent so I'm wondering where the Irish accent comes from (Ireland duh, but how?).

otm - I enjoyed the whole series. Wonder who the random BMX bandit that saved Nathan from the Virtue lot was? Good idea to have a few loose ends if they're likely to get a recommission though, ideally with a Kill Bill 2 style out-of-the-grave opening.
― Bill A, Thursday, 17 December 2009 23:25 (3 years ago) Permalink

― Number None, Thursday, 17 December 2009 23:49 (3 years ago) Permalink
Not wholly convinced by the virtue thing as it took it away from the main characters and felt a bit rushed, but it was still a good finish. Definitely up for a second run.

Was anyone sad enough to watch the video diary thingys on the Misfits website? Why was the irish lad irish (and so convincingly irritating) you may ask? Look at the video diaries and you'll see that he is exactly the same in real life. It would be a leap of imagination to to say the the others are 'acting' too.

Haven't seen the first ep of s2 yet, but really enjoyed the first series. My only complaint is that the show itself didn't seem to know how widespread the people-getting-powers thing was. The misfits are all 'Keep our powers secret, we'll be experimented on!', but it seems as though half the city has them, But nobody in the wider world seems to have noticed, or to care. Hope they clarify things a bit this series.

Was going to bump this myself, I only watched it last night.
I haven't rewatched the images or read any spoilers (other than noticing Wikipedia now has a column for 'drug-induced inverted power) but I reckon Superhoodie is an effect of Curtis moving so far forward in time - we never usually see him getting there or back, but it must happen, right? So I reckon it's Curtis using the knowledge he gained when he's on the rooftop in costume fixing the things that need to happen for him to get to that position (end of the series?) along the way. Dunno how him saving himself last week works under that logic though.
― ia! ia! Cartman fthagn! (aldo), Saturday, 20 November 2010 11:27 (2 years ago) Permalink
I must admit, the two main things driving it are that they bothered to show us he was black (his hands on the railing before he left the balcony) and the look to the person on the sofa under the duvet in the flat implying that he knew it was hers.

― buildings with goats on the roof (James Morrison), Monday, 20 December 2010 22:30 (2 years ago) Permalink
I'm assuming Ruth Negga will be back because Curtis' only motive for getting powers back is to resurrect her. Although...
the simplest thing would be for him to wind back to before any of them sell their powers and them to kill jesus then. But then Nathan won't necessarily meet the pregnant girl and they won't have the money that jesus saved and I bet both those are in place, and new powers (although I reckon the only one who will have something new is Alisha).

The entire last 20mins of this episode was just fantastic. They need to bring the Jesus guy back somehow, he was like a weird rapey David Tennant/Matt Bellamy/Robert Peston hybrid.
Also the Christmas carol was just lolololol.
Love the way Nathan just never thinks anything through or learns from his mistakes. Should I blow my brains out on national TV? Yeah why not. Should I sell my immortality for a couple of grand, yeah go for it.

― treefell, Thursday, 30 December 2010 14:13 (2 years ago) Permalink
Love this show so much I haven't really cared about the timetravel plot holes. In a way I hope they don't address them because there are just so many now (Like Simon and Alisha getting together in the future after she's meant to have been killed by the Grand Theft Auto bloke, or Simon and Alisha remembering the conversation about future-Simon after Curtis reversed that day), dimension jumping would be nice but I like that this is the kind of show that doesn't get too hung up on those sorts of details, and that no one really notices them anyway because it's too busy being awesome in every other way.
