Honestly I would just like ESPN Esoterica, devoted to random foreign sports.

I totally got into watching olympic handball in 2008, which was kind of a cross between dodgeball, basketball and soccer. Why the hell that isn't a huge commercial sport is beyond me.

THE AFL has welcomed Tuesday's statement by the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR) about the integrity of AFL matches.

The VCGR said not only was it satisfied that sufficient measures are in place to safeguard the sport’s integrity but the AFL had exceeded the VCGR’s own benchmarks.

AFL General Manager Legal and Business Affairs, Andrew Dillon, said it was happy to assist the VCGR with its inquires after it wrote to the AFL in August seeking its views.

“The AFL welcomes the VCGR’s statement and its support for the range of measures we have implemented to safeguard the integrity of AFL matches,” he said.

“The AFL has worked diligently to strengthen our procedures that protect the integrity of the game and we want to assure all clubs, players and supporters that we will continue to do so.”

My all-time standard for poor special teams was a freshman high school football game--admittedly, featuring a kid who probably had kicked for like four days in his entire life--where the punter struck the ball too high up, which made it sail directly over his head and out of the back of his own end zone. It was AMAZING.

i can't even fathom how a group of "professionals" could end up with this result - it literally boggles the mind

yeah.. a few min ago gruden and jaws gave up & basically said the reason the browns offense doesn't work is because nearly all the players are terrible

I saw a kid get kicked out of a JV football game for kicking a kid in the nads after he said they were "biting" him at the bottom of a pile. I was next to the coach when it happened, the ref came over and said to our coach, "Number 32 is ejected from the game, he kicked the boy in the groin." I swear I have chuckled about that scene for years.

I'm currently tied in my fantasy game (tho I have more points on my bench - tiebreaker). He needs to not miss any more kicks this game.

Sad thing is that Cleveland actually has the basis for a decent defense.

I'm wondering if some of these clubs are just trying too freaking hard on offense. Just set them up in an I and run a classic offense. If you don't have Brady or Manning, you don't have to try and set it up like you do.

can they really be called screens if no one blocks?

to put that 2.9 number in perspective:

last year the lions lost to the saints 42-7 to go 0-15. they started dan orlovsky, who finished the game with a QB rating 24.7. and yet they still managed to average 4.6 yds per play.

bubble screens and quick screens were a good innovation for the nfl but the PENDULUM HAS SWUNG TOO FAR

you can't really run bubble/quick screens when your WRs are not quick and have zero potential to make a guy miss - you might as well just kneel the ball at that point
