Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:13 (twenty years ago) link

Why, because Killing Joke is on it?

J (Jay), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:43 (twenty years ago) link

I was thinking more the Eddie Rabbit, but that's just me.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:44 (twenty years ago) link

Here's a quote I will use frequently - best out of context:
"I was thinking more the Eddie Rabbit."

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:54 (twenty years ago) link

Just saw this thread via google and you guys clearly have no taste. Theres no current bands better than DMB. They're in the top ten bands of all time along with the beatles, fleetwood mac, rolling stones, the cure, depeche mode , pink floyd , spacemen 3 and killing joke.

DMB Fan, Friday, 18 July 2003 16:55 (twenty years ago) link

Har, Har and thrice Har!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 18 July 2003 16:59 (twenty years ago) link

man i fuckin love a rainy night.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 17:01 (twenty years ago) link

Ok ive never heard of Killing Joke. have no idea who they are or look like, but I read the thread and thought i'd show that Allison wasnt the only DMB fan with a sense of humor.

If you dont like dave because you dont like the albums you've heard the fair enough. But please don't judge them on who some of the fans are. Fans of all bands have buttmunches as beavis would say.

DMB Fan, Friday, 18 July 2003 17:52 (twenty years ago) link

I like you, DMB Fan.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 17:58 (twenty years ago) link

"...have buttmunches..."!?! OH MY GOD OUCH.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 18 July 2003 18:02 (twenty years ago) link

Maybe Alex will respond with pics of Jaz Coleman Scaring Dave Matthews.
Or just loads of scary KJ pics to scare of DMB fans .

Helena, Friday, 18 July 2003 23:44 (twenty years ago) link

I now weep tears of joy

my top ten: Lifter Puller, Prince, James Brown, Sly & the Family Stone, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Velvet Underground, Acen, Luomo, Funky 4 + 1, Raydio

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:29 (twenty years ago) link

Raydio!

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:35 (twenty years ago) link

Matos ain't afraid of no ghosts!

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:35 (twenty years ago) link

no, that's solo Ray Parker Jr. Raydio is the first three albums (well, the first two, the third is Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio)

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:37 (twenty years ago) link

Raydio is where Ray Parker realizes he has nothing to fear from the dead.

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:40 (twenty years ago) link

it is when he goes solo, and is able to face death down on his own terms, that he is able (and willing) to declare "I ain't afraid of no ghosts"

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:41 (twenty years ago) link

Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 19 July 2003 07:41 (twenty years ago) link

Alex , Ned & KJ all dissed by a dave matthews fan. Doesnt it bring tears of joy to you all?

Tears of laughter to me, frankly. As does this post. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 July 2003 09:09 (twenty years ago) link

bustin makes me feel good!

you got ghosts, baby, freaky ghosts...

eedd, Saturday, 19 July 2003 14:46 (twenty years ago) link

Just found this and spent an hour reading it. What a load of shit. You retards clearly don't know anything about music. You cant even give good reasons what you think is wrong with the music. You all suck. All the bands you like suck.Dave Matthews Band are the most talented band since my other favorite band The Beatles.
And arent killing joke the band that ripped off that shit grunge group Nirvana, who killed good music in the 90s?
Indie music sucks!

Dave Matthews Is God!, Saturday, 19 July 2003 18:30 (twenty years ago) link

you know you're right

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 18:31 (twenty years ago) link

I've noticed that many of the DMB fans seem to truly hate Nirvana .Blamingthem for killing good music? Which music would they be talking about?
And as for dissing Indie/Alternative music .... I thought DMB fans claimed they were alternative and lead alternative lifestyles like The Dead etc did before them?

Jaime, Saturday, 19 July 2003 18:33 (twenty years ago) link

accounting's an alternative lifestyle?

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 18:34 (twenty years ago) link

Somebody had to count the profits from all those Jerry Garcia ties.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 July 2003 18:36 (twenty years ago) link

And arent killing joke the band that ripped off that shit grunge group Nirvana, who killed good music in the 90s?

Do you really expect me to take the bait on this one? I know I'm somewhat predictable, but c'mon.....give me SOME credit.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:16 (twenty years ago) link

Attention DMB aficionados: If you obtain the urge to express your devotion to the Dave Matthews Band, please refrain from doing so untill you have proofread your post, making sure that you have conveyed your adoration in a completely respectful and intelligent manner, so as to avoid nullifying Allison's many attempts at regaining esteem for herself and other Dave Matthews Band admirers.

There are 4 very simple rules.
1) There are TWO spaces after you end a sentence. I'm led to believe that the only people who aren't aware of this are DMB fans that post on this thread.
2) DO NOT insult Killing Joke or Alex in NYC. You WILL be ruthlessly chastised by an extremely callous man.
3) The Dave Matthews Band is NOT "the best band ever". Please avoid saying so unless you have heard every band ever.
4) Spell check, people...use the fucking spell check!

Allison (Allison), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:49 (twenty years ago) link

"talent"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:58 (twenty years ago) link

5)Let Allison do all your arguing

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:59 (twenty years ago) link

(Admittedly I just posted that to be an asshole; I'm sure there are much more complex songs in DMB's repertoire)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:02 (twenty years ago) link

I still totally <3 Allison.

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:05 (twenty years ago) link

I'll say in DMB's defense that that song is an instrumental bonus track that is useful only if you want something to fall asleep to.

Allison (Allison), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:43 (twenty years ago) link

I find it hard to believe that even Dave Matthews mum would like his music..

Sly, Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:10 (twenty years ago) link

You WILL be ruthlessly chastised by an extremely callous man.

Thanks a lot.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:32 (twenty years ago) link

You WILL be ruthlessly chastised by an extremely callous man.
Well when you phrase it like that, it sounds like it'll cost a lot of money and involve a latex bodystocking.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:35 (twenty years ago) link

I cant wait for Dave's solo album. Should be terrific.
Will he tour?
