Wow,....So I just found this...and it's funny, cuz that thing about To live and Shave that was posted like two years ago, that yer'all talkin about was not posted by me...Anyone that knows me could tell you just by the writing that that was not me...funny though. I will say that the first To Live and Shave CD is probably my favorite recording of the 90's. But I did not even know about this board until like a week ago. Someone was using my name. Also, it is flattering to see all the nice things said about Wolf Eyes...We are a mess, but I'm glad that some of ya'll dig it.

Hey dude from Wolf Eyes,

You should play Rochester, NY again cause I'm moving there soon, so now with Pengoo there's like over 10 people who would go to the show.

K THX!!!!

Listening to the Wolf Eyes "w/ Spikes" CD, it begins really boring, droning, typical Wolf Eyes shit. They start to add synths and more noise . Then suddenly Nate's vocals come in PERFECTLY clear and unexpected on one side of the headphones. He makes some totally weird noises that sound more like some of the vocal sounds that Black Dice would sue before beginnning stuff with actual lyrics. Ocassionally there is some vut up bit of onamonapeia from him, as the band thumps and drones away.

Liking this so far. Its now in a break where the pulse has stopped and there's all kinds of paper ripping noises.

This definitely has a different version of Wretched Hog from Dread.

Amazing! This song samples a distorted version of that Xmas song that goes "something something Christ the king".

I have "Mugger" and one that they did with Black Dice. It's very noisy with a few ambient bits but mostly unlistenable noise. That said it was quite cool strolling around a market town in the British sunshine whilst listening to it. Is this stuff typical of what they do? Sometimes I do wonder what the appeal is here and how much one should take this kind of music seriously?

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 13:38 (nineteen years ago) link

I haven't heard Mugger, but the Black Dice collaboration is fairly atypical for them.

24 hours with the King of Snake. (SNAKE!) (ex machina), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 13:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, the Black Dice collab was a lot more restrained than I thought it would be. I like it, though. Anyone else hear their Recycled Music cassette? At one point it sounds like the hull of ship breaking up.

Nardcore love on this thread.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 16:02 (nineteen years ago) link

Mugger is kind of atypical for them.. they usually have a lot more dynamic variation; Mugger tends to be ALL LOUD, ALL THE TIME, if I remember correctly.

The recyceld cassette is great too!

The Lost Sockets 3" that came out recently on Chondritic isn't as thrilling. I think I've only listened to it once or twice since I got it.

Ian Johnson (orion), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 21:07 (nineteen years ago) link

from the Polyamory mailing list, if anyone's interested:

'released' today on Polyamory:

WOODEN WAND & TOVAH D DAY
"Bad News Bearers" cassette

Bad News Bearers is a very special release in that it commemorates the very first released one-on-one collaboration between Polyamory co-founders / best friends Wooden Wand and Tovah D Day. It took nearly ten years, but here it is.

Fans of Tovah's other band Dead Machines will be happy to hear that the future Mrs.Olson is definitely the captain of this particluar ship, her cracked electronics, pitch-fucked cymbal sputter and lonely wolf calls taking center stage, while Wooden Wand augments with ring modulator, voice and percussion. Our favorite Polyamory release since A Cut Above!

$5 ppd - paypal to oracle909@aol.com preferred.

Hayes Electronics stocks and sells a particular brand of microcomputer. It costs the firm $450 each time it places an order with the manufacturer for the microcomputers. The cost of carrying one microcomputer in inventory for a year is $170. The store manager estimates that total annual demand for the computers will be 1,200 units, with a constant demand rate throughout the year. Orders are received within minutes after placement from a local warehouse maintained by the manufacturer. The store policy is to never have stockouts of the microcomputers. The store is open for business every day of the year except Christmas Day. Determine the following:

a. Optimal order quantity per order

b. Minimum total annual inventory costs

c. The optimum number of orders per year

d. The optimum time between orders (in working days)

*Artist: DEMOS YELLOW SWANS
Title: Live In The Police State Capitol
Format: LP
Label: Weird Forest
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Im extremely honored to release this one-sided twelve-inch by one of my favorite bands, D. Yellow Swans. 1/4" Tape, Guitar, Voice, Drum Machines, Microphones, Mixer Feedback, Various Electronics and Two Wonderful Fellas (formerly of Mur*der and Boxleitner) from San Francisco-via-Portland who craft Wolf Eyes-style pieces that build up to mammoth walls of noise via keyboards, guitars, processors, etc. This record is live recordings from Sacramento and Arcata, circa fall 2003. Theyve collaborated with Dead Science in the past, as well as sharing the stage with Nice Nice, Burning Star Core, Wives, and oodles of others - just so ya know where these guys are coming from. Forthcoming releases on Narnack, Deathbombarc, and gobs more. They improvise off each other to create the mesmeric, volatile yet controlled chaos of electronic sear, rasp and burn. Full spectrum tonality, sonic exploration, the opening of new doors of perception, spiritual journey, and the establishment of new, Â meaningful shared cultural experience in the tradition of folk and native musics from around the globe invoking Freedom, Happiness, Love, and the sharing and incitement of these feelings in others. Positivity. Total Liberation. Limited to 500 copies." - Weird Forest.

I have the split 3" with Gang Wizard. I think the D Yellow Swans track is like them playing acoustic guitars and yelling in either a men's or women's bathroom. Maybe that's what the Gang Wizard side sounds like too. In any case it's pretty good.
