(Does Lightning Dust have new stuff out? And man, the new album is all watermarked and shit… Which means I have to be careful when I rip it to listen on my mp3 player).

Lightning Dust just has the one album that came out in the spring. And probably that'll be it for a while since BM has the ol' new album thing happening.

wow, what an influential place. they counted john cage, willem de kooning, and buckminster fuller among their faculty, spawned the black mountain poets, staged the first-ever "happenings" (in the THIRTIES)...

Sabbath meets… some '70s prog with a chick singer that I can't think of off the top of my head.

some of their tunes remind me of a more psychedelic version of songs by songs: ohia or electric magnolia co. which is weird, because i don't really like either of those groups. mostly on the songs with male/female harmonizing, like 'voices'

they were great on friday. their new stuff definitely has a sabbath vibe to some of it. 'druganaut' ruled, i wished they would have played the extended version and then extended that out to 15 minutes. cave mountain singers were pretty good, too

Pretty good last night. That chick is more a warbler live, and she looks lost when the rest of the band's rockin' without her.

Still, pretty fucking good. We did get the 15 minute Druganaut, and a pretty sweet version of Don't Run Our Hearts Around.

Live, the Cream Clapton tone of the guitar comes through a lot more, and there's more emphasis on the moog, which I like.

Fantastic performance in Nottingham last Thursday in advance of their appearance at ATP; they really blew me away. They had no new product to push, save for a tour-only 12" containing two tracks that won't be on the new album (plus a voucher giving you a password for downloads of the same tracks). There's also a free download of "Tyrant" from the new album on their website.

This will certainly be in my top 5 of 2008. Phenomenal.

Lightning Dust record is one of my favorites of the year. They do synth music well.

So they got some of their gear stolen while they were on tour and now a bunch of local bands here are holding a benefit gig for them. Gotta wonder why Black Mountain don't just play a benefit concert for themselves!

Saw Black Mountain last night. They were really good live. The synths and keyboards sounded huge. Need to finally break down and check out some of their records.

debut is great a little more VU gone heavy vibe, Into the Future is also amazing
