it's growing on me certainly but I don't really LOVE it...

don't think it's a patch on the first album, even though it's better to "listen to" (better produced basically) it's simply FAR too long, and needs more well, songs? more upbeat stuff anyway, too much of an electronica album and maybe not enough DANCE :( how much of this would be good for 12"s? I'd wager it's less than last time and can't help wishing they'd road tested it that way.

ok, growing on me properly now a few more listens in...

I do think it lacks for immediacy though, which is a bit of a letdown, I'd probably have trouble convincing others about it if that makes sense?

I love Hyper Hyper haha, such a goofy, funny but actually fond inversion of all that reverential nostalgin deep house worship something like "Teachers" (the Daft Punk track) tends to inspire... also this album needs a few (more) crude bangers like that and less middleground so it's welcome.

yeah, I am really liking this now, haven't really stopped listening to it yet, should sound even better when I get a real copy!

Think it was just the length thing, rightly picked up on from both pfork and stylus reviews. If I think of it as a double album it's beastiness sits more comfortably with me :)

Do we have any threads for the albums since this one? I couldn't find any.

"Shipwreck" on the new one is so amazing.

I think this might already be the most consistent/my favorite Modeselektor album

I didn't really rate Monkeytown all that highly last year but after a comment on the Orbital thread re: "Modeselektor is the new Orbital" I went back to it and am really digging it now.

The joke is simple but I've played "Pretentious Friends" like four times in a row. "The pâté was fabulous!"

They even make hilarious promos. I forget which album but the promo was them supposedly being interviewed by a nerdish Long Island Internet DJ. Lots of fuzzy sounding Gallic mockery.

I'd also forgotten how much I like "Green Light Go"

It's very reminiscent of "Blue Mug" by Gus Gus

Yeah the was the Hello Mo promo, xp. It's annoying after about 5 seconds, though. And then I have to hit the skip button after every track ends to escape it. So glad to hear it's not on the "non-promo" version.
