Gatinhaa, where are you from? You keep reminding me of a version of Manuel from a French-dubbed Faulty Towers.

Royal came out all guns blazing and performed a little better than I thought she would, putting Sarkozy on the back foot on quite a few occasions. So props to her for dominating a debate against a famously dominating individual. All in all, though, I think it was a score draw. Sarkozy was clearly more at ease with the specifics of policy and Royal was vague on detail, thus reinforcing doubts about Royal's "competence". So the debate changes nothing really, and Sarkozy wins next Saturday with a comfortable margin of five or six percentage points.

my sleep deprived brain has now conflated the snooker and the french elections, with the result that I'm thinking that Sarkozy missed an easy pink allowing Segolene to make a frame-winning break of 54, leaving the debate all-square at the mid-session interval...

Wait, you don't smoke Welsh girls? Why ever not? They're quite smooth, or so I'm told.

Although she did do très bien, I doubt this will gain her enough votes to win. Sadly, I think the tosser will win. :-( If I were French, I'd definitely vote for cette grande dame, mais je suis pas française, je suis une femme belge malheureusement. Et je parle Francais avec beaucoup de cheveux, a saying only Stan will understand... I think.

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:49 (6 years ago) Permalink

Actually not even when you're belgian, I fear. :-(

stevienixed, Thursday, 3 May 2007 21:50 (6 years ago) Permalink

StanM, Friday, 4 May 2007 05:56 (6 years ago) Permalink

baaderonixx, Friday, 4 May 2007 06:22 (6 years ago) Permalink

StanM, Friday, 4 May 2007 06:37 (6 years ago) Permalink

baaderonixx, Friday, 4 May 2007 06:48 (6 years ago) Permalink

gershy, Friday, 4 May 2007 06:51 (6 years ago) Permalink

Hollande vs Sarko

Eugh!

L'ennui, cette maladie de tous les (Michael White), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 20:49 (1 year ago) Permalink

In summary:

"Vous mentez!"
Sarko waggles his shoulders, points
Hollande lists some things

Definitely less one-sided than the 2007 debacle, I'd say both sides achieved their game plan more or less.

Though I guess Sarkozy failed in that he had to do better than hold his own. Needed to do some serious damage to Hollande's support and I don't think he did that.
