Kurt Cobain Biopic

Probably won't happen for another 5 yrs or so, so we can get in on the ground floor of this promising investment opportunity.

What would it be called? Who would star as Kurt 'n Courtney? And a fake line from a review for the posters...

eg Oliver Stone's "KURT!" starring Val Kilmer & Courtney Cox - "Smells like OSCAR spirit! - Roger Ebert"

OK, that stinks, but you guys can do better...

It would be called 'Sleepless In Seattle' and star Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan...

Or perhaps not.

Who would star as Everett True?

Dr. C, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Kenneth Branagh

Scarily enough, that actually might work.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

The guys from Pearl Jam will play themselves, of course.

Nevermind Seattle - starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie - "Captures the spirit of grunge before the industry co-oped it - TO Star" & "Two plaid lumberjacket thumbs up - Roger Ebert"

matt damon as kurt cobain would be the best casting choice ever.

ethan, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Ice T as Kurt Cobain, Snoop and Eminem as his 'skanky' drug buddies, and Julia Roberts as his 'bee-yatch'. I guess you'd have to throw in Walter Matthau as a cranky Danny Goldbert, and Russell Crowe as the 'sensitive' guitar tech.

I'd play myself, thank you - that way I'd finally get paid.

I'd go see that.

Now them's entertainment! But who plays Poneman and Pavitt? Jay and Silent Bob?

matt damon as kurt cobain would be the best casting choice ever

Only if he lives out the role completely.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

You mean there's not one yet? I'm shocked. I thought one would have been made by 1995.

Lyra, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Well, there was that stupid Leonard Cohen Afternoon film I heard about, but that sounded like pure cheese -- two guys *on the road* to the tribute in Seattle along with a hooker. Sounds like the kind of plot dreamed up by a film exec in between snorting coke lines.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Jay and Silent Bob can be Pearl Jam.

Im not sure why Metalica should be in the film but I just had a vision of Silent Bob saying "Fire BAAD!"

"Nevermind Seattle - starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie" Jesus fucking hell - NO! I think Ethan Hawke would fancy his chances as Kurt with Drew Barrymore - if she wasn't already tight with Coutney.
What a fookin' nightmare.
Carnt wait.

Not as witty of an answer, but they might as well cast unknowns.

JC, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I think the film should be about Nirvana. Not as much so on Kurt and Courtney. But Kurt could be the centerpiece (seeing he was of the band). Matt Damon might be good, but I question his ability to play a mellowed out and depressed punk rock star who is scared of his own success. I would be more convinced of a Brad Pitt performance. He looks young enough for the part and I trust his acting skills a little more (he actually can act in some roles beyond those looks). Whoever you choose has to be imagined with dirty dishwater blond hair and a goatee. His complete face is somewhat hidden. Another crazy idea I had was Ben Stiller playing Dave Grohl. Any comments?

Even better then Matt, Leonardo Dicaprio if he could stop smirking.
