People who smell their food before they eat it. Classic or Dud?

I have a friend who does this every time he eats something. Picks up whatever it is that he ordered and smells it before eating it. This grates on my nerves and drives me nuts. I want to smash his face in it.

BIG FAT DUD.

I do this sometimes, I'm not really sure why. It's like a kneejerk reaction, I don't even think about it. Maybe it's just to enjoy the smell. I smell the coffee grounds before I put them in the coffee maker because they smell so fucking good.

'pends on the food, innit. Some foods - you'd be a fool not to sniff, as the smell comliments to taste and heightens enjoyment. Sniffing other foods would make you a mentalist (eg kebab).

Yeah everybody smells what they eat obviously. But I'm talking about sticking your nose in the plate or bringing it right to your nose. Maybe its just me.

As long as he doesn't go "aaaah" when he does it, it's kosher. Once the sigh-as-signifier-of-olfactory-satisfaction has been pronounced, you may proceed with the face-smashing.

maybe they're afraid of being poisoned?

Is ILX really hungry lately or something? Did we forget to bring our collective Fig Newton to snack upon?

He does this with everything. He smells popsicles for christ sake. What does he think a grape popsicle is going to smell like? Shit?

(bark of laughter) CP, you've just made my day w/ this thread. More disturbing tendencies I didn't know about?

I couldn't help wondering whether Chris's friend perseveres with the habit in bed, when pleasing a lady friend?
