that was said based on memory - watching again i was kinda knocked out just how BAD the singing is on the whole, Weiland's ground-control-to-major-bowie pipes are lolgasmic but actually one of the stronger sets here. woof. arguments could be made for so many of these people.

K, let me attempt a live review.

Slash: Uhm... things just getting started but this isn't that offensive yet. Bunch of phaser pedal.
Bono: Wow. Has been years since I last saw Bono perform anything live. He's really lost his voice, you can see him gasping for air, in what? two sentences?
Stevie Wonder: His intro is hilarious. It seems like he tried to sound soulful but couldn't follow the arrangement.
Norah Jones: She sounds and looks really ashamed of how things are turning out so far.
Brian Wilson: Probably the least offensive so far, but shabby either way.
Alicia Keys: Over the top as all of her performances. She's alright I guess.
Scott Weilland: When John Seroff reviewed Mika's We Are Golden on the Stylus jukebox he wrote that every decade gets the Bowie they deserve. I still don't fully understand whatever he tried to say but I suppose that means Scott Weilland is our 90's Bowie.
Billie Joe Amstrong: I don't think he sounded that bad but the 'all stars' kept interrupting and they completely ruined his thing. Not that he was going to save anything at this point.
Tim McGraw: I have no idea who he is but he looks drunk. Can't really judge his voice, only had the mic for like 5 secs.
Steven Tyler: Not bad I suppose.

At this point I got bored and closed the vid. At least they were kind and didn't chose 'yellow submarine' or 'all you need is love'. My vote goes for Bono but Stevie was pretty bad too.

Moka, Friday, 16 October 2009 04:16 (fourteen years ago) link

Stevie Wonder: His intro is hilarious. It seems like he tried to sound soulful but couldn't follow the arrangement.

He also scores about 50% on lyrical accuracy, I won't even go into melodical...
