They look bigger. It is a puzzler. W/no pockets jeans just look ugly and undefined to me, denim isn't that pretty a fabric in itself.

i agree with everyone so far. bring back the pockets. please.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:10 (11 years ago) Permalink

nonsense. denim is great. I'm wearing some jeans with no rear pockets right now. the lack of pocket has troubled me somewhat I must admit - where am I supposed to put my wallet? But my butt doesn't look "squished and weird" because they are a loose, boyish style of jean. and because I have no butt.

rainy (rainy), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:11 (11 years ago) Permalink

I love jeans, but I mostly love their (often useless) detailing. I don't even use the pockets, actually. Loose boyish jeans are the best. Loosish, anyway. Really tight pants are stupid.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:13 (11 years ago) Permalink

That should read "Really tight pants are stoopid.

Sean (Sean), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:38 (11 years ago) Permalink

ok speaking to the ladies...do you wear them because they are comfortable? or is it because they are the "fad" and you think they look good...

i think pockets enhance the image of a butt, directing attention to the butt as a whole rather than focusing on little "squished" details.

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:46 (11 years ago) Permalink

are you talking about tight pants or pocketless ones?

rainy (rainy), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:48 (11 years ago) Permalink

rear-pocketless jeans...i guess i havent seen a girl wear jeans with no rear pockets that were tight

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:49 (11 years ago) Permalink

I've never, ever used the back pockets of any of my pants. Doesn't anyone find putting stuff in there uncomfortable?

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 8 November 2002 02:50 (11 years ago) Permalink

I put my wallet there, but yes, it can be uncomfortable, especially while sitting.

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:52 (11 years ago) Permalink

Personally, I believe that the butt pockets serve as a reference point on which to compare other butts. Thus, when you see a truly delicious butt, you know it. Without the pockets, they all look like the same, shapeless blob. Furthermore, when girls wear pants that are too tight for them, it makes their asses get all flat and deformed. The pockets help to hide the girl's misplaced tenets of "tighter is better"

WELL SAID!

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:55 (11 years ago) Permalink

why the hell does it say i posted tomorrow?

Walter Cronkite, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:56 (11 years ago) Permalink

Ok now i really want an answer here. Do girls wear tight, no-rear-pocket jeans for comfort, or because they think it looks good?!

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:57 (11 years ago) Permalink

Well, i can't see how pocketless jeans would offer any more comfort than pocket jeans.

Walter Cronkite, Friday, 8 November 2002 02:59 (11 years ago) Permalink

so what does everyone think about pants in general...

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 03:01 (11 years ago) Permalink

If chicks want to look good, they obviously don't know how the opposite sex thinks. I can confidently say that for me, there is nothing more arousing than watching a girl stick her hands in her tight rear pocketed pants. It's pretty evident that she cannot perform this jaw-dropping act if she doesn't have pockets.

Walter Cronkite, Friday, 8 November 2002 03:04 (11 years ago) Permalink

tight jeans ARE good. what is this tight-jeans hate?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 8 November 2002 07:56 (11 years ago) Permalink

Although clearly even sexier is sticking YOUR hand in a girls rear pocket.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 8 November 2002 07:57 (11 years ago) Permalink

mo' ass is ALWAYS classic

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 8 November 2002 07:57 (11 years ago) Permalink

I never use rear pockets. I hardly ever use front pockets (hence my 80% female status on www.thespark.com/gendertest/).

Rear pockets can enhance/disguise a backside but pocketless jeans can look great on the right one.

I love tight jeans, both to wear and view.

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 10:09 (11 years ago) Permalink

The worst thing about jeans with no back pockets is that it means that when you're walking along with your girlfriend you can't slip your hand into the back pocket of her jeans. Isn't that what they're there for?

lol p xx, Friday, 8 November 2002 12:19 (11 years ago) Permalink

Slip it down the back of her jeans instead. So much nicer.

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:24 (11 years ago) Permalink

I am confused by the fashion for jeans with one pocket removed, so one gets a dark blue patch on the ass where the pocket used to be.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:26 (11 years ago) Permalink

Ha ha look at the confused old man.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:34 (11 years ago) Permalink

The jeans I am wearing now have two pockets... but one is useless as it's completely open underneath (from fidgeting in it).

(toraneko, I'm a man! I think it's because I picked phallic french fries instead of vaginal onion rings)

My trousers have six pockets because they can't work out if they're jeans or cargos.

When I go out to dyke bars I don't carry a handbag so I do use pocket then:
Dollars in one back pocket
ID in other back pocket
Coins in one front pocket
Phone in other front pocket
Ciggies in one jacket pocket
Makeup in second jacket pocket
Hip flask in third jacket pocket
Glasses in fourth jacket pocket

A dang hangbag would be so much easier.

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:48 (11 years ago) Permalink

nathalie those pockets are called portals!! they allow you the pleasure of feeling yr small change fall all the way down inside yr trousers into yr sneakers!!

There is a joke to be made about wormholes here.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:56 (11 years ago) Permalink

I have one pair of jeans with an inside back pocket. I've never worked out why but if you keep your wallet it there it looks like you're intimately scratching your arse when you have to get money out.

Ed (dali), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:57 (11 years ago) Permalink

Maybe that's what this one guy who's always coming into the library is doing. It always looks like he's grabbing his own ass, but maybe it's one of these mysterious inside back pockets.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 8 November 2002 13:02 (11 years ago) Permalink

God, I LOATHE that hands in each others' back pockets walking stance! I am a bitter fellow.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 8 November 2002 13:16 (11 years ago) Permalink

It's not that I'm against tight pants. I love them! But, girls need to realize that there is such a thing as TOO tight.

Walter Cronkite, Friday, 8 November 2002 15:24 (11 years ago) Permalink

Too tight as in white transparent enough to see the coulour of the underwear, now thats too tight.

Ed (dali), Friday, 8 November 2002 15:35 (11 years ago) Permalink

They look best on skinny Japanese girls, the no pockets streamlines and makes them look even more skinny than they already are...This was an interesting development at first, but now a bit played out I think...bring back the pockets!

Mary (Mary), Friday, 8 November 2002 15:41 (11 years ago) Permalink

Jeans on females need to be tight, but not so tight as to emphasize on the little crevices which need not be seen, just tight enough to get a jist of the basic shape, countour, and roundness of the backside. If you ask me, the pockets on the FRONT side of girls' jeans are the ones that need to be removed. At least you can fit your hands into the back pockets. I don't know why front pockets are even there. It can't be for looks. Who looks at that spot anyway? If you ask me, the entire fashion industry has got the whole pocket-removal thing backwards...

Andy, Friday, 8 November 2002 17:11 (11 years ago) Permalink

What's going on with false pockets too? I have a pair of trousers with utter useless tiny slits in them where pockets could have been, for no apparent reason other to irritate me.
