I am totally jacked that he is coming back ... I had to sell my Lions-Pack tix last year for $$ (and I put em on the 'bay and hyped em as the "farewell"), but ol Brett gave me a reprieve! and I seriously won't miss this game. thx for coming back Brett! we just need Robert “Beetle” Bailey to be there to give ya one more "throat-slash" for the road....

“I won't lie to you,” Favre said, “but there has been times once that season started — numerous times — that I thought I shouldn't have played, this was a mistake. But then after the season was over, and maybe even before — I think the last couple of games which I didn't play in and it'd been years since I hadn't played and watched from the sidelines, better yet in street clothes, that was the first time I'd ever done that — but it gave me a chance to really reflect and look around. There was no pressure to perform. I was just kind of watching.“So I had a chance to really think and think in depth.

To put things into context look at last year. Rodgers sits a game and Flynn throws 6 TDs (a guy who apparently couldn't even beat out Russell Wilson for a starting job). Cutler gets knocked out and the Bears struggle to put up double digits. No QB's going to succeed when you only get 2 second to throw the ball and your only decent reciever is an aging Brandon Marshall.
― frogbs, Friday, 28 September 2012 15:05 (eleven years ago) link
yeah, i'm not calling a referendum on Cutler as a qb there, I'm just saying that in the system he's in right now, he sucks.

Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana would be terrible with the Bears O-line.I'm optimistic it will get better with Forte coming back, and the precedent of the last two years where they protected better as the year went on.

PROVO — For 20 years, Brett Favre captured the attention of pro football with his gunslinging, fun-loving attitude. It’s a special weekend for Favre — along with seven other men — as they are being enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a part of the 2016 class.BYU first-year offensive coordinator Ty Detmer had a front-row seat for the start of Favre’s legendary career. From 1992-95, Detmer and Favre — both young pro quarterbacks at the time — played together in Green Bay under head coach Mike Holmgren, a former BYU quarterbacks coach.“He played with passion. Early on, he didn’t know football that well, but he made plays,” Detmer recalled of his former teammate.Favre's instincts to play the game, and his drive to compete, led him to a Hall of Fame-caliber career capped by a Super Bowl XXXI victory and three straight NFL MVP honors from 1995-97, an unprecedented feat.Favre went on to a prolific career that included setting the NFL career marks for completions (6,300), pass attempts (10,169) and wins (186, tied with Peyton Manning). He's one of only two players — Manning being the other — to throw for over 70,000 yards (71,838). Favre also threw 508 touchdown passes, second only to Manning.Detmer, meanwhile, played 14 seasons in the NFL, starting 25 games and playing for six different teams. Another Green Bay quarterback from that era, Mark Brunell, went on to a 17-year career and was named to three Pro Bowls.Favre was known for having fun no matter the situation, whether it was on the field, in the locker room or away from the spotlight of the game.“He was kind of a fun-loving guy who just loved to play the game, especially early when I was there his first four years in Green Bay. It was kind of anything goes,” Detmer said. That included hijinks with his teammates.“We did some things the night before the game playing goal-line offense with our center Frank Winters as the fullback and three of us as defensive line sitting there at the bed waiting for him to dive over the top,” Detmer said. “Holmgren probably would have killed us had he known we were doing that. He wouldn’t have killed Favre because he wanted him healthy, but the rest of us would have got killed.”

judging by the stories that were swirling around about him in Green Bay during the 90s all I can say is he was pretty lucky to have played most of his career in a pre-smartphone, pre-internet era

"If you were to pay me is there anyway the media can find out where it came from and how much?" Favre asked New in 2017.After telling Favre that "we never have that information publicized," she circled back to him the next day."Wow, just got off the phone with Phil Bryant! He is on board with us! We will get this done!" New told Favre.

"Wow, just got off the phone with Phil Bryant! He is on board with us! We will get this done!" New told Favre.
This is the level of coded language and subterfuge I would expect from any scheme involving Brett Favre.
