He def recovered once he embraced his inner basketball shut-in but it's funny when he comes back from a vacation suddenly armed with four year old breaking bad references
― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 6 October 2014 16:24 (nine years ago) link
Yeah I kinda think they could have just let him write less abt some minor contracts instead of having to pad the last months worth with three intro grafs abt the upcoming TV deal and rising cap
Kinda like the entire entertainment press wasted thousands upon thousands of words chinscratching abt a crouching tiger sequel no one gives abt
― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 6 October 2014 16:26 (nine years ago) link
ya we really dont need all these hot takes
― lag∞n, Monday, 6 October 2014 16:27 (nine years ago) link
it's like w/the internet and media moving faster, instead of at the end of the day the big stories being written for the following day's paper, now all day long you see new stories popping up on websites every fifteen minutes that fifteen minutes later are completely forgotten.

lowe is at times the best basketball writer we have and at others the most unreadable. he's just unbearably square

I am not partial to Simmons but if Grantland goes the way Sports on Earth just did I'll be very disappointed.
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 15 October 2014 13:43 (nine years ago) link
VIEWING ALERT!!!!! At 7 p.m. ET on Thursday (10/23), The Grantland Basketball Hour makes its triumphant debut on ESPN. Your hosts? Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose, who will be joined by Jeff Van Gundy, Doc Rivers, Michelle Beadle, and Zach Lowe

@BillSimmonsIf Ned Yost had managed the Red Sox during the Pedro era, I'd be living in an insane asylum right now.

big overlap in audiences tho which is i imagine the important part to bill and his desire to be hero worshiped by his base. there is a venn diagram i don't want to spend any time in the middle of.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:37 (nine years ago) link

he shd go work for an actual journalistic entity that will worship him for the media star he is instead of for espn who make all their money broadcasting sporting events
― lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:52 (nine years ago) link
like hes the most popular sports writer in the country but he will always mean less to espn than some rando college football game
― lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:53 (nine years ago) link
on the other hand they pay him a shit load of money and let him have his own website documentary series and tv show

Simmons working in a different corporate context ... it's hard to imagine that it would go well considering that his first real job as an adult (probably?) randomly turned into a cult of personality / fiefdom.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:06 (nine years ago) link
