Is the person who told me Mad Men isn't worth watching because it's boring, wrong or right? And how the fuck are there 500 new answers?

i don't know what u think is boring but i like mad men a lot. there are 500 new answers because some moron decided to start an argument about whether a tv show based in history is required to highlight all the oppressed peoples of that time.

anyway aren't 250 of the new answers just ppl gushing about the season premiere?

all I know about the show is that it's set in the early 60s, it's fairly mannered and the costumes and sets are attractive.

i would say the person who told you it wasn't worth watching because it was boring was wrong

k sorry dude i did not see her good points, i just saw a bunch of freshman seminar level bullshit. but i didn't want to open the whole thread for fear of spoilers since i'm way behind on the show.

xp - basically I've gotten mixed advice from friends - one says its boring, one likes it because of the period costumes and furniture, one likes it because her partner's father worked in advertising in NY at the time, and said it actually was kinda like that.

i'd say the thing i really like about it (and the reason ppl may think it's boring) is at least w/r/t the first season they do an amazing job keeping the tension at a high level without things ever really blowing up. it feels like in keeping with a more repressed culture that the characters can't even have a proper fight a lot of the time.

beyond that it is well acted/directed/written and i like that period in history and blah blah blah

just when i thought it might be dying down.........

lol i didn't finish the wire (or even come close) because despite placing proper focus on the entire sociopolitical spectrum i thought it was poorly written and acted. clearly my priorities are not in the right place.
