Next week I'm being flown halfway across the country to approve color on press for 1, if not 2 award-winning books. I never get the chance to do this because almost all my color books print in China and no one gets to go to China anymore, so this opportunity is HUGE.

Also one of the books is written by someone I've idolized for like 10 years, so even though he won't be there or anything, I am PSYCHED!

gbx recommended a flashcard app for me (learning german) and us state capitals was the demo. i have now moved onto all the countries and their flags and positions on maps. totally pointless.

i am WAY smarter than a 5th grader.

anki. free on the desktop. costs ON IPHONE. all the packs are user-submitted. there are loads for german learning. but i think for language learning half the point is making your own cards.

I've been asked to assist with some research for a paper that I will most likely be listed as co-author on. This is exciting because assuming it gets published it'll be the first time for me in a major journal. Most days I'm bored as hell w my job so it's the little things, you know?

done, plus capital cities. somaliland? hargeisa. tajikistan? that's the one that is shaped like a reindeer. togo? togolome (sounds like toblerone). botswana? gabarone (sounds like navarone), etc.

i think i knew all the national capitals by the time i was seven or eight although i have probably forgotten 20% of them also not remembering the likes of south sudan or myanmar
