rich has been working on that interference thing forever. He played it for me in like 2004. I tried to get him to give it to me, kept saying "that's Acute stuff!"

dan selzer, Monday, 2 November 2009 23:34 (2 weeks ago) Permalink

not too into the remixes that are included but the original tracks are pretty awesome

dmr, Monday, 2 November 2009 23:37 (2 weeks ago) Permalink

It's David Linton. Prior to that he was in a band with his college buddy Lee Ranaldo called the Fucts. I used to email Lee about it all the time, he said he'd dig up and digitize some old tapes for me but he never got around to it.

re: the xx

austere starkness, lack of preciousness, if you dig chromatics or portishead I'd be perplexed if the xx didn't do it for you, plus they're an actual band w/ electronic drums played by hand making their ambient effects hardwon + wellearned, last 3 songs on album nearly float away from their own zoned zonkedness

I guess the album will eventually get played 94/7 in starbuckborders and grey's anatomy episodes but right now I'm into it yes

"Prog" makes me think of the album I've had on non-stop for about a day now:

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 6 November 2009 17:17 (2 weeks ago) Permalink

that last one's pretty interesting ... some kind of concept album by a visual artist's fictional band (the actual music is by flagranti, baris k, gavin russom, villaneuve, discodeine)

http://www.romanticsurf.com/

tangentially related to d-i-r-t-y soundsystem
