Man, this kid Dan I went to high school with was totally in love with this guy. Sounds like above-average porn music to me.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Monday, 23 August 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

HE WAS A DRUNK THAT WAS KILLED IN A BAR FIGHT.

SO NO!Z3!!!!!

ME,

I used to live around the corner from Chabela Burrito (actually named Chabela Mexican Food). I walked by there the other day on my way into Amoeba and noticed it closed down. RIP :_(

SCARY

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 23 August 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The story of his death is very sad.

He used to eat fried chicken before gigs and not wash his hands so that when he played his fingers were all greasy. He also kept a chicken bone in his bass case and would rub his fingers on that occasionally, to get those juices going.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 23 August 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

There seems to be this whole Amarillo/Planet Pimp/Black Jack Records renaissance happening right now, next month at the Hemlock: Liquorball, Harvey Sid Fisher, AND Neil Hamburger. which is great! it's the SF i fell in love with and encouraged me to move up here.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 23 August 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

but like, fuck Jaco, right?

Ian c=====8 (orion), Monday, 23 August 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ME is quoting from a hi-larious "gee-gaw" comedy record called "Great Phone Calls" which was released by Amarillo Records in the early 90s but got rereleased a year or two ago on Ipecac (with the Telephuck You 7" as a bonus track).

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 23 August 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i think gygax is answering a totally different thread.

Jaco's fretless on the freaked out Joni Mitchell albums = yummers

the best part is about midway through his idiotic response, he pauses and the audience just starts laughing and then bush smirks because he realizes what an idiot he is.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw it more like he smirks and thinks "I got 'em in my pocket now."

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 29 August 2005 05:51 (twenty years ago)

That clip might work better if you took the dialogue out and replaced it with some Jaco Pastorius.

If you can't find any Jaco, just record a metal box full of rubber bands being thrown down a flight of stairs.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

Jimmy Kimmel's show seems like the perfect place for an unfunny comedian.

sub-dwayne nelson (dr g), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

he's not a comedian, he's a performance artist.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

hes been on it before.

I would like to see Stelarc fight Neil Hamburger and Jimmy Kimmel.

That Bush clip is still roffley, but quite a bit more sad two years later.

Chabela Restaurant: It's not the hippest Mexican joint on Haight Street, but for the best overstuffed tofu-and-brown-rice burrito in town at the cheapest price, Chabela's is it. The grilled-vegetable burritos are also tasty, and there are other eclectic choices like the red-snapper burrito. It's a good spot to fill up before heading to a movie at the Red Vic. 1801 Haight St., (415) 751-6204.
