my friend's band is playing on friday at a gallery/book/record store in tremont, but it's his more "normal" band not his free jazz/noise/yelling band. still, it could be worth checking out.

no more Speak In Tounges I guess? The Pieta/Funtjars Gallery? Ralph Hausman? There used to be noize in cleveland. That's where I saw Merzbow, and Crash Worship.

i'm trying to book a show in cleveland, and it appears as though only one dude books shows in cleveland.

ISN'T CLEVELAND THE LAND OF SUPPORTING YOUR MEGA SCENE FOR EVERYTHING?

hellfaucet, you should come to oberlin,. or look into the inside-outside gallery space, where they have noise shows all the time. if the first option sounds good, email me.

trees (treesessplode), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 05:04 (twenty years ago)

well, here's the thing...

we're doing dates with Excepter in Philly and Pittsburgh and then in Detroit.

In between Philly and Detroit, there's a date that Excepter is playig Oberlin, May 10th.

John Chavez, the dude from The Punks, who's also Excepter's booking agent made it sound like other bands couldn't hop on the Oberlin date....

so that's why i was looking at Cleveland....

:/

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 05:38 (twenty years ago)

when I was at oberlin, some of the cleveland scenesters HATED oberlin (I'm looking at you John from B3nt Cray0n.) They were angry some big shows would choose to come to Oberlin instead of Cleveland because they could expect better turnout, like Stereolab, so everyone, John, the Speak In Tounges guys, Bleeding Ears John or whatever that guy was called, had to come to Oberlin for certain shows.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 06:27 (twenty years ago)

let me know if you want contact info for the inside/out gallery.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 13:13 (twenty years ago)

You might try the Beachland Ballroom. I played a show their last fall. They have a small stage up front seperate from the actual ballroom. That's my only point of reference for Cleveland. That Oberlin/Cleveland dynamic sounds alot like Lex/Louisville.

Polysix Bad Battery (cprek), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 13:23 (twenty years ago)

There's no smoking at Oberlin which is my biggest beef.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 14:07 (twenty years ago)

yeah, what's the contact info for inside/out ballroom.

cleveland sounds it has about as much noise as texarcana.
