BEST ROCK COMPILATION SOUNDTRACK EVER! Period., May 20, 2001

Reviewer: Steve Shasta (Malibu, CA USA) - See all my reviews

Since buying this on vinyl in 1979, I have yet to hear better rock compilation soundtrack.

THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW: "Night Moves" is edited, and "Fly Like An Eagle" does not contain the keyboard intro/outro sound effects. Ironically, it DOES contain the full 8:00+ version of Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good". The two Linda Ronstadt songs are live (but still good), and I'd assume probably unavailable except on this album. I'm also not sure if you can buy Steely Dan's "FM (Reprise)" elsewhere.

I am sure the poster that came with the album is probably too much to ask for in a CD however, dudes. :)

Trivia for
FM (1978)

* Many AM radio stations played an edited version of the movie's title song in which an overdubbed "A" was substituted for the "F" of FM.

WHO HAS THIS?

it was here, but it looks like the guy took down the file.

FM - the "AM" version
Bearing in mind the title of the single, AM radio stations naturally wouldn't play the song, but then in an amazing display of initiative, they took the 'A' from 'Aja' which was harmonically compatible and edited it into the song so that where 'FM' should have been 'AM' came out instead.

stonesy-wonesies are playing TONIGHT and I'm missing it. Super-bummed. First concert of theirs in a locale I inhabit (on a discreet stop -- i.e. I don't see each night of say a 2-night stand) that I've missed since the Voodoo Lounge tour :(

I saw both Chicago stops on 40 Licks (plus Detroit!). seriously bummed.
