writing snort rules is easy! I wish commercial IDS vendors would build in parsers and compilers to convert snort to whatever their proprietary format is, fucking mcafee

Psychedelic Horseshit is great but not as awesome as their bassist's side project!! pink reason was TIGHT when they played here

El Tomboto, Friday, 11 January 2008 21:52 (sixteen years ago) link

My band is called Cave. I agree with Tombot's assessment about Psych Horseshit and Pink Reason.

Trip Maker, Friday, 11 January 2008 21:54 (sixteen years ago) link

i have issues with pink reason.

Honestly, I havent' kept up with computer security products since early college. But I know all sorts of stuff about TCP/IP and UNIX internals now too.

(and lots more about shitty dynamically typed languages)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 11 January 2008 21:56 (sixteen years ago) link

I've never seen PH or PR live but I've seen TNV a couple times.
Pink Reason has been completely absorbed by Horseshit at this point, he retired the project.

Trip Maker, Friday, 11 January 2008 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I can live with PR but I really liked Psych H when I saw them!! Like, surprisingly, since I wasn't expecting to based on the name! That was a really fun night.

Laurel, Friday, 11 January 2008 22:04 (sixteen years ago) link

i saw tnv twice and they didn't do much for me live. like that "need more money 'cause i need more drugs" 7", really catchy.

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 January 2008 22:04 (sixteen years ago) link

er, I LIKE that 7".

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 January 2008 22:05 (sixteen years ago) link

TNV definitely have some issues with their live thing, but none of that matters when I'm screaming along with the songs. The keyboard player admired my Yamaha SY1, she liked that it was monophonic. It complements a player with limited abilities, like myself.

Trip Maker, Friday, 11 January 2008 22:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Psychedelic Horseshit is just a bad joke of a name. I've taken to calling them "Psychedelic Horseblank" when on the air.

El Tomboto, Friday, 18 January 2008 19:33 (sixteen years ago) link

err, the "organ" preset

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 18 January 2008 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link

thanks to modern science my organ has infinite sustain

latebloomer, Friday, 18 January 2008 19:43 (sixteen years ago) link

if your sustain last longer than four hours, consult a physician immediately

elmo argonaut, Friday, 18 January 2008 19:56 (sixteen years ago) link

And on "All About That" the self-described "Fireman" continues to bring the flames over imitation Just Blaze production, proving Birdman and Wayne know how to handle spitting on organs.

Got contact at big production company. Company has access to the catalogue of the major studio who made the sci-fi film we want to remake in an ambient sci-fi movie way.

Jordan, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 17:44 (sixteen years ago) link

heavily vangelis-influenced soundtrack and bladerunner-scale (but not style) art design. lots of, uh, architecture. we're working with D0uglas Trumbu11, who did sfx for bladerunner, star trek 1, 2001, close encounters, etc. ambient sci-fi is a term I made up "Monday, 11 February 2008 17:07 (Yesterday)". I haven't quite decided what it means though.

rainbow flag is a treat, drew. cover looks like terry gilliam vs. matlab (i.e. what is awesome)

caek, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 17:50 (sixteen years ago) link

more mathematica than matlab, actually

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link

what is "u&k"?

caek, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 18:14 (sixteen years ago) link

urgent and key

our image was generated by giving a soundfile to some folks from the MIT media lab who crunched it into some analysis program and then we gave their graph to Robert Syrett who re-executed it as a watercolor.
