"Only a phosphorus deficiency will cause cannabis plants to turn purple.
In the fall when the tempeture starts to drop so does the solubility of
phosphorus in the ground water around the roots. Just as hot water can
desolve more sugar it can also desolve more phosphorus making more parts
per million in warmer water. So the warmer the water the richer the
phosphorus to water ratio. Well by late fall the temperature is so low
that water can bearly pick up any of the phosphorus in the ground
thereby creating a phosphorus deficiency and turning the leaves and
stems cannabis purple or redish in color. "
