Whoa! Ned thinks we will still all be around to have fun in 2009. I like that.

awww remy :( make sure to sleep somewhere in there!!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 03:34 (fifteen years ago) link

well, sis and bro-in-law will not be moving to mpls any time soon :( they filled a section spot and did not hire anyone for principal. wtf?! :(

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 03:39 (fifteen years ago) link

remy has an exciting life!

tehresa, just because they aren't moving here, doesn't mean that YOU can't...

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 04:10 (fifteen years ago) link

this is true! also: sister has hinted that there is a viola audition coming up in a few months...

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 04:12 (fifteen years ago) link

hi itr!

miss you guys! this whole stupid working-thing means i never have time to post anymore :(

also: i am with black beyonce on the topic of keeping books. i cannot part with them. my current book collection is even cooler (and way more expensive) than my last, and nothing will be given away. also i never lend out books because most people never give them back and that upsets me a great deal.

man someone just called me out on a book that i borrowed 5 years ago! i have not even seen its owner in almost 3 years but suddenly he joined fb and has inquired about it!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 04:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Ha, I rarely lend books out for just that reason, but on the other hand it's not like I wind up missing them amongst the clutter of all the other books - unless they are super special books, in which case I'd probably be willing to re-purchase.

tehresa... wow, that guy sounds kind of crazy. I hope that wasn't his first message to you after he friended you!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 05:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I think I'm going to go to bed. This is early for me, but I need to head off a cold. Blah.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 05:23 (fifteen years ago) link

actually it was!

hope you are feeling better, sara! i keep sneezing. this is odd.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 13:25 (fifteen years ago) link

I usually buy extra copies of my favorite books b/c I know I will lend them out and never see them. This is fine b/c if I truly love the book I want to share the wealth.

to be fair, this one is signed by the author... though i was with him when it was signed, if that counts for anything?

Whoa! Ned thinks we will still all be around to have fun in 2009. I like that.

I'm naturally optimistic. (The big fish eat the little fish...oh wait.)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I appreciate the optimism!

xp Still counts - maybe even more so.

any of you people that are desperate to rid your lives of books are welcome to take advantage of the John Justen book relocation and reentry into polite society program.

I read that as 'minimal feels' and appreciated that your book-groping would be within the bounds of polite society.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:32 (fifteen years ago) link

well that too

Found out today that my bonus and contractual pay rise are going to be late by yet another month. They have been dicking around pushing my review back from before I went to norway. I was kind of banking on that money allowing me to quit in november and giving me time to pack up my life and move to america. I need to spend this evening picking over my contract and seeing if there is anything to stop them from paying me if I resign after the bonus is awarded but before I get paid.

It would be so much easier on everyone if you would just go ahead and post a photo.

PS Dan, just saw your LBJ joke; thanks for that lol.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 21:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara: ^_^

I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to seriously hit the gym if I want an entertainment career. Ugh.

Dan, you look fine. That being said, if you want to become a fanatical exerciser like myself, you have to find a routine that you can live with. (I have yet to find one that will erase the fact that I had two children, but otherwise, treadmill + movies + weight lifting works well for me because I can stay in my own house...)

Can I make a mini-rant for a moment?

I opened my gmail to find yet another right wing email from my Dad about how the economy was JUST FINE until the evil Democrats took over in 2006. For one thing, apparently we no longer have a President according to this logic, or checks and balances, but the overall thing that makes me crazy is that CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION FFS.

I'm not saying that I think the Dems have done a bang-up job, but FOR GOD'S SAKE. It is just frustrating to know that my parents are so in the tank that Bush can do no wrong no matter what. Also that they don't think any deeper than this.

It's the same shit that makes people go "oh, vaccines cause autism" and then never look any deeper to see if that is really the problem. The consequence is that you never find out what the actual problem is. AAAAARGH.

Seriously, how am I related to people who don't get this?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 8 October 2008 05:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Advice. Googling people I came up with a childhood crush. We had mutual affection for each other through jr. high and then diminishing contact in HS. All around he was a neat guy. We were in gifted & talented and yearbook together.

I e-mailed him and he wrote right back. He's married and living in Colorado now. He and his wife will incidently be leaving for a wedding in Austin tomorrow. He says he'd love to have dinner with us on Saturday.

Hmm, on one hand I'm glad to make contact with him but on the other hand sitting down for dinner after one day of e-mail contact with someone you haven't spoken to in about 15 years seems a little uncomfortable for me. I think it might be more uncomfortable for G. as he is extremely anti-social.

I don't know, should I get over it and take the rare chance to meet face-to-face with a long ago friend or say "we'll be out of town, sorry"?
