Mmm, money. Ain't it nice.

I'm well, thanks! Restful at work and waiting to eat good Ethiopian food tonight followed by watching 88 drummers and a guy operating a nefarious feedback machine at the La Brea Tar Pits.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:42 (fifteen years ago) link

tonight we are going to a friend's birthday drinks. I'm about to leave work now and burn some comp time.

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 16:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Nap was awesome. Now I'm envious of everyone else's Friday night plans. I'm going to lift weights, and hopefully watch a documentary about ballet. (But the kids will be asleep by then, so I'll be verrrrry pleased with that.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

ooooh which doc? <3 ballet docs/movies!

i am thinking of taking a nap this afternoon.

don't worry, i have 0 in the way of exciting friday night plans. i will go home and be lame and poor while ppl are at 88 boadrums.

hi itr

Rubyredd, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Hi RR! What's up?

xp It's called Ballet Russes, which is about all I know about it. Except I think Nijinsky may be in it. (I can't remember much and my ISP won't let me get much out of netflix. My ISP is probably going to be dumped shortly.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:04 (fifteen years ago) link

from imdb:
For many, modern ballet began with the Ballet Russe of Monte Carlo, originally made up of Russian exiles from the Russian Revolution. This film tells the story of this landmark company with its stars and production as well as its power games, rivalries and tribulations that marked its turbulent history.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:06 (fifteen years ago) link

ooooh Thanks!

(and duh! I should have remembered imdb.com. I've been using it to help me with xword puzzles lately. I can at least get to that site, even if it looks funny.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:08 (fifteen years ago) link

let me know if it's good! have you seen children of theatre street? i lovve it.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I will report back!

I've never even heard of Children of Theater Street. I'll add it to my queue (assuming I can still do that. SIGH)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:11 (fifteen years ago) link

it is super! it's about kids in the state ballet school during ussr days. grace kelly narrates!

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:13 (fifteen years ago) link

okay that sounds awesome

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:14 (fifteen years ago) link

i own it, it's so awesome.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:19 (fifteen years ago) link

It sounds great. How did I never hear about that before?

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:39 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, now I can't even add stuff to my Netflix queue. I am getting kind of cranky about this.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Raise a ruckus.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:17 (fifteen years ago) link

These guys clearly don't know how to fix the problem, but the trouble I'm having is twofold: 1. I don't want to change my email address because it's a huge pain and 2. I feel kind of sorry for the morons. Objectively I know that I'm paying them for a product I'm not getting, but I want to give them the chance to fix it. But at a certain point, very soon, I'm going to have to just move to a different provider because I need full internet access for school.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link

need moar banter. i can not stay awake. checking in "i dreamed a dream" right now and i kind of just want to go do that.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, here is something random:

I had a dream last night that I went to a movie theater to see West Side Story. However, the film kept being stopped so that people could act out portions of it in the theater. One of the people in the theater was Tim Conway (is he even alive anymore?!). Tim started acting out part of it, but then got very irritable and quit, claiming that he "owned the copyright on this part," and then he stalked out.

I feel sure that, somehow, this is a commentary on the McCain campaign.

Okay I am trying to get rid of some of the junk and clutter in our house. I just discovered a treasure, though. Shrinky Dinks!

The problem is that now I want to stop decluttering and play with the Shrinky Dinks, too.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 21:57 (fifteen years ago) link

HEY GUYS MY FRIDAY PLANS WENT FROM "ATTEND BACKYARD PARTY IN OH" TO "SIT IN AN AIRPORT ON THE INTERNET" so middle fingers to all of you.

HI DERE, Friday, 8 August 2008 22:02 (fifteen years ago) link

We still love you, Dan. And if you were here, you could totally make Shrinky Dinks with us.

Get home safe, okay?

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 22:09 (fifteen years ago) link

I think I'm gonna get home DANGEROUS

HI DERE, Friday, 8 August 2008 22:24 (fifteen years ago) link

You'll feel better after you get to vent to J031 in person. (At least that is how it works for me...)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 22:49 (fifteen years ago) link

wtf are shrinky diks?

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:26 (fifteen years ago) link

BLACK BEYONCE, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link

woah did not even notice the typo there LOL

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:34 (fifteen years ago) link

hahaha

Shrinky Dinks are this weird, easy art project where you make designs in colored pencil or marker on the Shrinky Dink material, cut it out, and then bake it up so that it shrinks - and gets thicker and harder.

(I'm sorry, but I'm cracking up at my own description here).

You can make little earrings or key chains or whatever out of them.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:38 (fifteen years ago) link

woah.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:39 (fifteen years ago) link

shrinky dinks will keep your family together

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Also, sometimes they kind of curl up while you bake them, which is a vast disappointment to everyone concerned. Usually it's just one or two that do that, though.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:41 (fifteen years ago) link

whoa, tza, those are some hardcore detailed Shrinky Dinks they are showing

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:42 (fifteen years ago) link

interesting that they make this claim of keeping families together yet the father is mysteriously absent from the video.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link

i am going to yell at my mother for not letting us have those when we were kids!

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link

It's not too late; you can probably still buy them for yourself now!

I think we got ours through the Chinaberry catalog/website.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:54 (fifteen years ago) link

But still, go ahead and yell. Then report back.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 23:55 (fifteen years ago) link

That looks like the kind of wholesome activity I no longer engage in as much as perhaps I should. I would like to shrink more and drink less.

I do still with lego though.

Upt0eleven, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:13 (fifteen years ago) link

My husband is a Lego fanatic. If my ISP ever starts working properly again (or I switch), I'll post a picture of him making the Star Wars Star Destroyer. It is going to be enormous. I have no clue where we're going to put it.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:18 (fifteen years ago) link

The only appropriate thing to do is to sell your children and use the vacated space as a display venue for the Star Destroyer.

Upt0eleven, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:24 (fifteen years ago) link

where is wilter

where is lxy

where is N.I.C.K.

Rubyredd, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:25 (fifteen years ago) link

xp I don't think that would be enough space.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:29 (fifteen years ago) link

lxy's on an island

jergins, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Think outside the BOX Sara. He has clearly made a lot of sacrifices and gone to a great deal of effort to build a star destroyer that will only please and benefit you and surely cause your home to appreciate in value. You owe him.

Upt0eleven, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:48 (fifteen years ago) link

An island?!

Nick, you are right. I can probably look forward to living in the Star Destroyer. Although I hope we don't actually, you know, destroy any stars. A person has to draw the line somewhere.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 9 August 2008 00:54 (fifteen years ago) link

hi ruby, et al. yes it's true, i am on an island.

lxy, Saturday, 9 August 2008 01:02 (fifteen years ago) link

lxy is it a secret island or can you tell us where it is geographically/metaphorically located

Rubyredd, Saturday, 9 August 2008 01:07 (fifteen years ago) link

thank god for free-movie websites or i might have been eaten alive by boredom the last 4 days. i am currently watching juno.
