It can be but there's some low sodium ones around which I've switched to that are very handy; used a batch of that last night.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 August 2008 15:31 (fifteen years ago) link

Not sure if it is available in the states but Marigold swiss vegetable bullion is very good and not too salty.

Ed, Thursday, 7 August 2008 15:36 (fifteen years ago) link

oooh bouillon! even better - don't have to lug liquids back from the store!

tehresa, Thursday, 7 August 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, there's a couple of good bouillon options -- said batch of broth I made was from a small packaged variety. Beats out the old cubes by a mile.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 August 2008 15:56 (fifteen years ago) link

All this soup talk is intriguing, but I'm probably never going to eat again. STILL full from last night.

Also, I had horrible insomnia last night and then this morning J came down with stomach flu. Fun all around at the R-C household!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 17:52 (fifteen years ago) link

aw, hope she feels better!

tehresa, Thursday, 7 August 2008 18:50 (fifteen years ago) link

umm, she didn't have a cup of fluffy bear's soup did she?

anyway, internets peoples in far off lands are wishing her well!

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Aw, you guys I'll pass on your good wishes. She'll love that.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:18 (fifteen years ago) link

oooh i just created an excuse to go for a walk (aka drop off fedex package). yay!!!!

tehresa, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:40 (fifteen years ago) link

weather is good today, hot but breezy, not too humid.

Ed, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara, tell her to cowboy up. I promise I won't make her any soup.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:05 (fifteen years ago) link

Mmmmm, going on a walk for a package. Hey, maybe I can get the mail. Whoo!

FB, I will pass that on for you. She's holding down a bit of water and a few crackers, so that's an improvement. I have her all set up on the couch, complete with a pillow and blanket. The TiVo is set so she can watch all the Fairly Oddparents she wants and she has a pile of books to look at. If she felt well, she'd probably be delighted with all that.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:14 (fifteen years ago) link

My life would be a beautifully strange thing if I had Fairly Oddparents to watch when I was growing up. But I got Warner Bros. cartoons and Scooby-Doo so hey.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:15 (fifteen years ago) link

oh the ironing. i walked north about 14 blocks to the nearest fedex drop box. when i returned, there was a missed drop off attempt from fedex. odd. they already came this morning, so i figured that was it for the day.

tehresa, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Weird.

xp She watches old Scooby Doo episodes sometimes. Also, she takes Scooby Doo gummy vitamins occasionally. Her favorites are the ones shaped like a "Scooby snack." (btw, I like those gummy vitamins myself...)

Ned, you know it's not too late to watch Fairly Oddparents yourself, you know. It's kind of amusing.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:33 (fifteen years ago) link

tehresa - ps I liked "oh the ironing." Possibly because I'm tired enough where I actually thought you literally meant ironing until after I read through what you wrote twice.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:34 (fifteen years ago) link

it was a nice walk. i learned that things get drastically nicer about 10 blocks north. that first 10 blocks is kinda gross though. there was a dead rat on the sidewalk about 10 ft from a guy selling vegetables. yummmm.

tehresa, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:35 (fifteen years ago) link

That would put me off my vegetables for some time.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:43 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, I'm actually afraid to go to bed tonight, because I don't want the b.s. waking up in the middle of the night for three hours insomnia thing to happen again.

Still... I'm tired. So....

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 06:05 (fifteen years ago) link

hope you slept well!
i wish i could crawl back into bed instead of going to work today :(

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 12:34 (fifteen years ago) link

sssssshush you'll wake her.

i had job interview number.... i've lost count... today. and several more lined up for next week. god this is tedious.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 8 August 2008 12:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey folx, I really need a chatter thread.

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:15 (fifteen years ago) link

HI Ms. M! How are you? This is definitely a chatter thread. (welcome!)

Hey you guys. Thanks for your good sleeping thoughts. I'm going to get the kids some food and go back to sleep! I'm still exhausted from the night before last's insomnia fest.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh! PS Nick - good luck with all those interviews... "several" sounds good (although yeah, tedious).

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:34 (fifteen years ago) link

yay chatter.

Oh man, you parents are amazing. I kept my brother's four for a week last month. I thought I was going to die.

I start a new job next week and have literally no work to do. This is going to drive me nuts.

I'll have to change my user name in a bit as my work email is changing.

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:41 (fifteen years ago) link

FOUR kids?! I only have two, remember! And they are getting older - J is the youngest and she's going to be 6 this month. Your brother is really lucky you were willing to take his kids for a whole week. WOW.

Sorry you're so bored at work... being bored like that can be stressful. What are you thinking about a new user name? I'm trying to avoid doing that, but my ISP is run by well-meaning idiots and I think I may have to switch as well.

I'm going back to sleep, but I'll check back with you all later...

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Ages 3-8. It was "Camp Tia" and I'm afraid I'm a poor, grouchy camp counselor.

I'll just be Susan/Sam. I'm not really miserable these days. Just bored. (which is a horrible state to be in. Maybe I'll watch the LOST eps I missed.)

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 13:51 (fifteen years ago) link

i imagine logins would work if you kept them, you'd just never receive webmails.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:13 (fifteen years ago) link

sara, so jealous of your sleeping.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Good point.

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:17 (fifteen years ago) link

Why hullo Ms. M, how's things?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Good. About to start great new job, now making about 7k more than I was at the beginning of the summer. Life is sweet. I'm just bored waiting out the last week of this job. boo.

How be you?

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Mmm, money. Ain't it nice.

I'm well, thanks! Restful at work and waiting to eat good Ethiopian food tonight followed by watching 88 drummers and a guy operating a nefarious feedback machine at the La Brea Tar Pits.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 August 2008 14:42 (fifteen years ago) link

tonight we are going to a friend's birthday drinks. I'm about to leave work now and burn some comp time.

Ms Misery, Friday, 8 August 2008 16:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Nap was awesome. Now I'm envious of everyone else's Friday night plans. I'm going to lift weights, and hopefully watch a documentary about ballet. (But the kids will be asleep by then, so I'll be verrrrry pleased with that.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

ooooh which doc? <3 ballet docs/movies!

i am thinking of taking a nap this afternoon.

don't worry, i have 0 in the way of exciting friday night plans. i will go home and be lame and poor while ppl are at 88 boadrums.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:01 (fifteen years ago) link

hi itr

Rubyredd, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Hi RR! What's up?

xp It's called Ballet Russes, which is about all I know about it. Except I think Nijinsky may be in it. (I can't remember much and my ISP won't let me get much out of netflix. My ISP is probably going to be dumped shortly.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:04 (fifteen years ago) link

from imdb:
For many, modern ballet began with the Ballet Russe of Monte Carlo, originally made up of Russian exiles from the Russian Revolution. This film tells the story of this landmark company with its stars and production as well as its power games, rivalries and tribulations that marked its turbulent history.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:06 (fifteen years ago) link

ooooh Thanks!

(and duh! I should have remembered imdb.com. I've been using it to help me with xword puzzles lately. I can at least get to that site, even if it looks funny.)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:08 (fifteen years ago) link

let me know if it's good! have you seen children of theatre street? i lovve it.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I will report back!

I've never even heard of Children of Theater Street. I'll add it to my queue (assuming I can still do that. SIGH)

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:11 (fifteen years ago) link

it is super! it's about kids in the state ballet school during ussr days. grace kelly narrates!

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:13 (fifteen years ago) link

okay that sounds awesome

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:14 (fifteen years ago) link

i own it, it's so awesome.

tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:19 (fifteen years ago) link

It sounds great. How did I never hear about that before?

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 17:39 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, now I can't even add stuff to my Netflix queue. I am getting kind of cranky about this.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Raise a ruckus.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:17 (fifteen years ago) link

These guys clearly don't know how to fix the problem, but the trouble I'm having is twofold: 1. I don't want to change my email address because it's a huge pain and 2. I feel kind of sorry for the morons. Objectively I know that I'm paying them for a product I'm not getting, but I want to give them the chance to fix it. But at a certain point, very soon, I'm going to have to just move to a different provider because I need full internet access for school.

Sara R-C, Friday, 8 August 2008 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link

need moar banter. i can not stay awake. checking in "i dreamed a dream" right now and i kind of just want to go do that.
