hey guys in case you were wondering my report from the frontlines is that christmas has been decidedly canceled.

maybe i will go on vacation and return in january

xmas better not be cancelled I just bought a blu-ray player for G. I did not plan on it and ended up buying a more expensive one than I set out. But he's had a rough time lately and I figured he deserved it. I want to give it to him now, now, NOW! But I'll have to wait. :(

tv births make me cry, too! i don't think it's that ridiculous.

Thanks to Monty Python and the fact that I have never attended a birth (aside from my own, and I was otherwise distracted), I firmly believe that all births are like this:

I'm afraid to look at that. I was there when one of my nieces was born. I did not cry then. I was just. . .amazed.

I love wrapping presents so much. It's almost as much fun as picking them out. Throughout the year I pick up little dollar trinkets - Hello Kitty pens, lip gloss - and tape them to the front of my nephew and nieces presents. Then there's the elaborate ribbon decoration. I have to spread wrapping out so I don't blow all the joy at once. I'm probably the only one who digs this as the kids have to be told to unwrap carefully so they don't lose the stuff on the front.

Xmas used to just mean a couple of extra nights to go to the bars but kids to plan for definitely changes everything. True to their wishes I loaded up on Disney franchise crap (High School Musical, Camp Rock, etc) for my nieces. G's repsonse, "Yeah, make those douchebags even richer. Good move." Whatever. It's what makes them happy.

I love wrapping presents so much. It's almost as much fun as picking them out

xp Yes, I teared up a little (luckily I had a tissue strategically placed in one pocket of my scrubs - and thankfully no one was paying attention to my silliness).

gbx, I was observing with a third year med. student from U of M doing her ob/gyn rotation. She was v. nice.

Also I got to hold the baby for a few minutes, which was kind of terrific. I didn't really get to hold either of my kids right after they were born due to all the complications; I was a bit surprised by how alert this baby was.

ps anyone who loves to wrap presents can come help me because I am totally teh suck at this activity.

in other news i am terrified---TERRIFIED---by the prospect of my histo exam on Tuesday. And Biochem on Thurs. Prognosis is NOT good, as i sorta shat the bed on the first histo

The little bit of histology we did for nursing school prep (waaaaay back in anatomy) was a bitch. All those freaking cells start to look the same (probably because they are all died purple). But YOU CAN DO IT!

ha, I was supposed to go shopping today with Mom and sister, but impending bad weather has moved our plans to Tuesday night. I need more stuff for A. & and in total panic about what to get for 4lex. (10 year olds apparently too old for toys, too young for anything else...)

My 9-yr-old is getting a bit tricker. His tastes are becoming more narrow and expensive. So far he's getting a basketball hoop, mavericks tickets and a PSP memory card. He needs one other, small, gift to balance his numbers out with the girls. G nixed the Jackass movie on PSP as he thought he was too young. Srsly, a boy today can't handle jackass? Maybe it's better I'm not a parent.

I wonder if I should start a side business wrapping presents and writing people's college essays . .

That business would be nearly recession-proof.

so jordan finally took me to ihop today. for quite some time i had believed this mysterious 'ihop' to be a reference to an apple/mac product.

I kind of want to make a crack about how that would taste better, but I don't think I've ever been to IHOP, so I'm kind of boxed in here.
