susan, you inspire me. i think i will delete my ok cupid profile this weekend (i have been meaning to do this anyway).

very quotatious (tehresa), Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:22 (fifteen years ago) link

I would delete my profile but then everyone would forget me. Oh wait.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Ned is one of the most unforgettable people I've never met!

John... oh my.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:29 (fifteen years ago) link

ned who?

LONGUSERNAME IS LONG (John Justen), Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Ca-hoot na na na oh oh (HI DERE), Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

^^^ would watch

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 17:56 (fifteen years ago) link

argh, my friend just took me out for thai and I am uncomfortably stuffed.

Now my afternoon will move even slower than the morning as I just really want to lie down.

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Thursday, 11 December 2008 18:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay I'm very dissapointed that in "Swagger Like Us" Jay-Z is saying his "knots" don't fit skinny jeans rather than "nads". My brother has ruined my day.

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Thursday, 11 December 2008 18:50 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't even know how to interpret that...

As for the Thai food, YUM. I'm going to eat a piece of leftover sausage pizza. If you're uncomfortably full, maybe try to walk around if you can - helps digestion and will keep you a bit more awake. (After a big meal I always just feel sooooooo sleeeepy, especially if it's lunch for some reason).

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 18:54 (fifteen years ago) link

omg, Susan, happy birthday!!!!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 19:42 (fifteen years ago) link

gracias. :) I'm using that as a reason for being so slow today although that doesn't explain every other day.

I've gotten *some* work done today but damn do I just want to go home.

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Thursday, 11 December 2008 19:46 (fifteen years ago) link

oh hey, happy birthday

Ca-hoot na na na oh oh (HI DERE), Thursday, 11 December 2008 19:48 (fifteen years ago) link

tbh, it's your birthday, so I think you should go as slow as you damn well please.

I've gotten some work done today (turned in my l&d clinical prep work) and now am supposed to be working on my latest Giant Paper, about my patients from last Saturday. I have zero motivation and am being massively distracted by odd aspects of it such as the fact that for some reason our prof has set up part of the template so that a whole section of our paper will be written in purple rather than black. I must be tired because the question of whether she wants to read ten pages in purple really seems pressing to me.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 20:15 (fifteen years ago) link

thank you. :)
make it black then redo it in purple before you turn it in.

I have a mtg at three then another at five. the latter is over beers with students but, still, i'd rather be at home on my couch by then.

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Thursday, 11 December 2008 20:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey, meeting with students over beers sounds like it could wind up being okay...

Maybe our prof would be amused if the people who took care of female babies switched to pink and the people who took care of male babies used blue. I just don't know what she was thinking. Tomorrow night we are going out w/ profs after the seniors' "pinning ceremony," so I may ask her then.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

i think it's ok to write a paper in purple because i really like purple.

very quotatious (tehresa), Thursday, 11 December 2008 20:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey, I like purple, too!

It's just one section of the paper (empirical data) that is purple. Everything else appears (personal knowing, aesthetic knowing, ethical knowing, nursing diagnoses... a zillion other sections) to be in black. Maybe she was making some kind of statement making empirical data purple.

I'd rather consider all of this than actually write anything, btw.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 20:36 (fifteen years ago) link

call it a hunch, but i bet she is making the empirical section purple so she knows what section not to bother to read.

LONGUSERNAME IS LONG (John Justen), Thursday, 11 December 2008 21:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Sadly, that's probably the most important (also longest and most deadening to write) section.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 21:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Personally, I would skip the "aesthetic knowing" section. (i.e. "how is your nursing care a work of art?" - actual quote from one of our profs from last spring)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 21:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Did you answer "Because all of my patients end up looking like Venus de Milo"?

Ca-hoot na na na oh oh (HI DERE), Thursday, 11 December 2008 22:05 (fifteen years ago) link

hahaha NO

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 22:36 (fifteen years ago) link

The idea seems to be to explain how you weren't a jerk when you interacted with your patient.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 22:37 (fifteen years ago) link

(admittedly some nurses I've met could really use some extra help in that area)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 11 December 2008 22:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Susan I just del-teted my Myspace too. Buh.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Friday, 12 December 2008 00:32 (fifteen years ago) link

you have inspired me! i am going to go delete okcupid now!

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 06:42 (fifteen years ago) link

done!

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 06:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Way to go, tehresa!

Hi estela!

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 07:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Having said those things, I'm going to bed now. I actually made a bit of progress on my TNC (mostly because A. told me that I had to write a certain amount - apparently I am so unmotivated that I need someone to boss me around at this point). Anyway, I'm happy to have gotten something on paper. Or on the computer screen. Whatever.

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 07:09 (fifteen years ago) link

i am also going to bed now.

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 07:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Good night, tza!

And everyone!!!

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 07:13 (fifteen years ago) link

boss is out. press director out. so quiet.
i don't feel like working!

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:08 (fifteen years ago) link

haha, I sparked a deletion revolution! The only person who cared when I was off MySp was my brother who im'ed me saying "I went to leave a happy birthday on your page, what happened?" haha.

I'm glad you're having a quiet friday, tza. I'm at home and really shouldn't be online at all. But I'm im'ing with my brother. Maybe we should just go back to phones. . .

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:22 (fifteen years ago) link

i would like to be at home working on my finals since it is so dead here today. i'm sure i could just go if i wanted to, but then i'd lose $$$, so no. wah wah.

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:28 (fifteen years ago) link

I like phones, but somehow have grown to prefer computer communication more. Hmmmmm.

tza - I have been using youtube to watch MST3K silliness for procrastination purposes this week. And reading ILX. And basically doing everything I can to not write my paper. So if you don't have something to do... now you do.

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 17:28 (fifteen years ago) link

gah, money sucks.

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 17:28 (fifteen years ago) link

i think i will use this opportunity to peruse design sites and choose fabrics/swatches for my theater plans.

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:32 (fifteen years ago) link

^^^You are a better person than I am. CLEARLY

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 17:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I have been watching clips on YouTube of Lil' Wayne at his last Austin show. I didn't go b/c just didn't feel I could justify $60 a ticket. Glad I didn't as I can practically see the entire show, from various seats, via people's cellphones. And I think the sound quality is as good as it would've been live.

I'm going to eat some birthday cake and read.

Not Everyone Can Be Tupac (Susan), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Happy birthday!

MPLSTPLHSTNGS, am home from 17th. Drinks!

Meat ROFL (suzy), Friday, 12 December 2008 17:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Yay! Glad you're coming home to MN for the holidays, suzy.

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 17:56 (fifteen years ago) link

aw i wanna drink w/ suzy!

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 18:02 (fifteen years ago) link

argh someone who does not understand finance/budgeting is trying to tell me how she wants this budget/expense tracking thing i'm doing set up and she does not realize that it is fiscally irresponsible to ONLY track one aspect of production costs...

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 18:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Wow, that seems kind of intuitive. Can you explain it to her?

Sara R-C, Friday, 12 December 2008 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

sigh.

very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 12 December 2008 18:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, I take your point.
