Classy place you're going to school there!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 05:35 (fifteen years ago) link

lobby done. now have to do backstage? i don't know dimensions for dressing rooms bc apparently they are in some book i didn't realize we were required to buy (when he said it was out of print i thought he meant it was a suggested nice addition to have if you could find it, not that i should be scouring used sites for it?!)

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 06:23 (fifteen years ago) link

it is kind of zen to sit with a drawing board on my lap (which i know is kind of not allowed bc lines could get messed up but hey, i have a t square!) and put on ipod and be zen lobby master, but also i am tired and i think i am not using the right lead bc lines are too light and my tired eyes can't see them.

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 06:24 (fifteen years ago) link

I was trying to find citations to support stuff I had written about an hour ago and the words were just swimming in front of my eyes. I have moved past zen anything and am moving on to the detached retina stage, apparently.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 07:22 (fifteen years ago) link

well i made some stupid dressing rooms and costume shops and i have no idea if they're right, but i'm done and i don't care anymore. my eyes hurt. did discover this kick ass gorecki symphony, though!

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 07:26 (fifteen years ago) link

You're ahead of me, tza!

I'm going to finish this paper up tomorrow morning and then have a meltdown trying to send it in via computer. Ugh. I just don't trust that it will actually get there if I don't put it in someone's hands physically.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 07:32 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah but this is just normal hw, not a big paper/assignment you can feel proud of. in a few weeks, i will be you x 4. u_u

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 07:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I am not proud of this absurd paper; I am annoyed by it.

Guess what, J just woke up and vomited all over the place! Yes, the TNC-writing hell can get worse...

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 07:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay your schoolwork sounds both amazing and tiring. I do look forward to going back to school.

Our home chugs along. This economy sucks, seriously

I think one of my students is displeased with me. There's a big wad of fluorescent green gum sticking my tissue box to my desk.

On the lighter side, today is the feast day of St. Homobonus.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 November 2008 16:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Thank god Ned has some good news for us, anyway.

How do we celebrate?

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 16:41 (fifteen years ago) link

(ps I hope the celebration does not involve vomit, or absurdly long papers)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 16:41 (fifteen years ago) link

i am hella nervous today bc my boss has been having v. important meetings with head of h.r.

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 17:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Yipes. :-/ Crossed fingers for you!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 13 November 2008 18:04 (fifteen years ago) link

let us know what happens tza. bad vibes in the air all over

My friend is having a quickie wedding on sat. tonight is a batchelorette dinner and sat. afternoon the casual ceremony. Tomorrow night I have to go see a friend's band as I haven't seen them in a few years and they're about to call it quits. All good things though? Yet I dread them all. I am curmudegon who would rather stay home and read humongous books and knit.

I have three friends who are pregnant. Lots and lots to knit. Damn social life.

Bella Swan Song (Susan), Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Susan, I would like to trade with you for the weekend. (And you could come up here and fix my screwed up knitting project and hide in my house and study for my final test...)

tza - I'm sending GOOD VIBES your way.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:16 (fifteen years ago) link

thanks guys. i mean, i have feared this for a while as massive budget review has been going on. could be nothing... i've half a mind to go tell them to give me a better job and get rid of the more expensive people. they'd save, and i'd do it on the cheap (not as cheap as now, but still way less than they've been paying).

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:19 (fifteen years ago) link

i don't want to put ideas in their head if they haven't thought of canning me though...

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:19 (fifteen years ago) link

But you're idea is a wise one.

Bella Swan Song (Susan), Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:23 (fifteen years ago) link

"your" even.

Bella Swan Song (Susan), Thursday, 13 November 2008 19:23 (fifteen years ago) link

You're/your confusion is nowhere near as annoying to me as when people use the word "compliment" when they mean "complement." For some reason that fills me with irritation and dread.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 20:46 (fifteen years ago) link

i feel that is a less commonly made mistake, though...

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 22:01 (fifteen years ago) link

i just clicked on this board and there was a red message at the top saying 'sending subscription email', what does that mean.

estela, Friday, 14 November 2008 00:10 (fifteen years ago) link

No idea! Weird.

xp Guess what mistake is on our course evaluation forms. ARGH

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 04:17 (fifteen years ago) link

lol that would inspire me to write a scathing evaluation. our evals suck. they are bubble fill-in only, no space for comments.

;n_n; (tehresa), Friday, 14 November 2008 04:37 (fifteen years ago) link

hey i just watched "The Aura" (argentinian thriller). it was good.

CHARMING LMAO (John Justen), Friday, 14 November 2008 04:40 (fifteen years ago) link

^It occurs to me that everyone on this thread is striving for something different or unhappy with there lot but John sits contentedly in his empire enjoying the benefits of cultured civilisation.

Ed, Friday, 14 November 2008 13:59 (fifteen years ago) link

I had a lovely bachelorette dinner with my friend last night. It was at a Brazilian restaurant and I had mussels for the first time. That put me in a good mood. It's lovely to see one of your oldest and dearest friends entering married bliss.

Bella Swan Song (Susan), Friday, 14 November 2008 14:02 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah john seems very content. i am jealous.

;n_n; (tehresa), Friday, 14 November 2008 14:45 (fifteen years ago) link

John is basically always the happiest person in the world.

I am going to get a massage this morning, though, so I think I might be second most, just for the next hour and a half or so.

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 15:08 (fifteen years ago) link

oh jealous!

;n_n; (tehresa), Friday, 14 November 2008 15:21 (fifteen years ago) link

John is basically always the happiest person in the world.

True! This is because pain and suffering makes him hale and strong.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Friday, 14 November 2008 16:31 (fifteen years ago) link

i have had two professional massages in my life, and both were disappointing.

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 14 November 2008 16:36 (fifteen years ago) link

CHARMING LMAO (John Justen), Friday, 14 November 2008 16:48 (fifteen years ago) link

so do i go out drinking and carousing this weekend, or cloister myself and drink and carouse at home while watching odd foreign films and playing Fallout 3?

CHARMING LMAO (John Justen), Friday, 14 November 2008 16:49 (fifteen years ago) link

srsly, this woman made my shoulder feel better than it has in about 3 years. Would go back in a second.

Also, I am all noodly now.

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

xp If it is cold, stay home; if it is not, go out.

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Try and chill out for as long as possible or the toxins freed up in your muscles will just settle back in.

Ed, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Ed, my big plans for today are basically to take a hot shower and study for my final by reading through notes. I'm not sure if that qualifies as "chilling out," but it's the best I can do these days.

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Thanks for worrying about the state of my muscles, though! :)

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Don't want to waste a good massage. That sounds like a suitable activity.

Ed, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:54 (fifteen years ago) link

Hmm, might be going to the Bay area for a few days in early december. I thought I was done with travel for the year.

Ed, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:55 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, kind of feeling jealous of your prospective travel, even if you seem less than excited!

Sara R-C, Friday, 14 November 2008 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes I've not left Texas in four years and would go ANYWHERE!

Bella Swan Song (Susan), Friday, 14 November 2008 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

I shouldn't be two jaded but I really need to focus on getting myself ready for pittsburgh but I had a long chat with a california VC who said that if I want to get a good internship next summer in a good cleantech startup I should get out there and start networking now and that he'd set up some meetings. I have enough airmiles and hotel points to make this a relatively cheap affair. Nonetheless 3 days in silicon valley techno-parks selling myself is not what I want right now. Also kind of considering dropping some stuff at the storage in NYC on the way.

^NB this kind of glib attitude to air travel is why we are going to hell in a handcart and I am going into cleantech.

Ed, Friday, 14 November 2008 17:06 (fifteen years ago) link

Here, I'm pretty content with my lot as well. Just in a different way.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 14 November 2008 17:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Ned it just freakishly happy.

Ed, that makes sense. I like to travel, but it is stressful and it seems that you have been all over the place this past year. Not to mention that it isn't just a free choice thing!
