Am I the only person to look at that and think OMG CHILDHOOD OBESITY OMG

Sara R-C, Monday, 10 November 2008 21:26 (fifteen years ago) link

No, I don't think you are

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Monday, 10 November 2008 21:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, feeling less crazy now. See, I can always count on HI DERE for that. :)

Sara R-C, Monday, 10 November 2008 21:47 (fifteen years ago) link

CHARMING LMAO (John Justen), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 02:33 (fifteen years ago) link

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 04:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, school. Blah. But hey, my clinicals are over!!! Now I have to write a million pages, though.

xp I don't even know who that is!!! (plz tell me this is not someone superfamous or something)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 06:44 (fifteen years ago) link

I would totally friend Tom Morello but that's just because of alumni loyalty. Also I tend to blame Zach for most of the suckiness, regardless of whether that's warranted or not.

(Sara: guitarist for popular-when-we-were-in-college beat combo Rage Against The Machine and later Audioslave)

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 15:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Happily, none of RATM has asked to be my friend.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 15:48 (fifteen years ago) link

I hate Tom Morello after that damn Guitar Hero challenge.

But hey, my clinicals are over!!!

Yay! But boo about the million pages.

I'm reading for this final paper I need to write for G's class. SO BORRRINNNG! I did entry-level English 15 years ago. Going through it again is horrible. I expect a very fancy dinner out of this.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:15 (fifteen years ago) link

Spritz con Bitter (Ed), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link

they have not started yet and it's just pit musicians tuning/screwing around :-\

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:17 (fifteen years ago) link

bah, can you wander around the fly galleries, explore interesting spaces whilst carrying some important looking papers?

Spritz con Bitter (Ed), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey teh, are you going to be around during whatever show H34th3r Buck is going to be making her Met debut in? She was just in Freischutz up here and she's a lot of fun.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:24 (fifteen years ago) link

hmm, i can't tell what opera she'll be in - it's not listed on the roster or our internal program. is she just covering something?

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Possibly... I'll have to look for our program and see what it is she'll be doing.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Grateful to be awake and at home and NOT wearing scrubs and also now to know who the hell Tom Morello is, thank you all.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow day at work.

Nobody here.

Playing loud evil music.

Tired.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:51 (fifteen years ago) link

stop fronting, we all know you are bumping "Womanizer" today

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know what "Womanizer" is, and thus I may now have a distorted picture of what Ned is doing at work today.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, d3ll had an org-wide mtg this morning about "organizational changes" (read: layoffs) and I have not heard from G since. eek.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 21:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, that is kind of scary. Sending good thoughts your say, Susan.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 21:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah last week they announced "voluntary" severance packages. They were only applicable at a level higher than him but everyone was encouraged to take a week off w/out pay if they didn't take the package.

We've kind of been waiting for the axe to fall any day. It's unusual for him to not e-mail me during the day so I'm not sure if he's busy or at home.

Guess I'll find out soon enough.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:35 (fifteen years ago) link

cant you call?

a country packed with ponies (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:37 (fifteen years ago) link

My phone situation is complicated by extreme dislike of them: currently without cell, his is long-distance so I can't call from work, don't know his work phone and we don't have a home phone. haha, ridiculous huh? Ah well, I'm leaving in a few minutes anyway.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:43 (fifteen years ago) link

That really sucks; best of luck to you.

In other ridiculous news, J031 just called me frantic because she thought she'd lost her bank card and her driver's license. Turns out she put them in the pocket of a coat she decided not to wear yesterday. We are now 16 minutes late (and counting) for drinking because of this.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:46 (fifteen years ago) link

I hope it all works out, Susan.

Dan, you know that being 16 minutes late for drinking is completely unacceptable. You'll have to make amends to the thread later, my friend.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:49 (fifteen years ago) link

20 minutes

CURSE YOU, PUFFY COAT

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:50 (fifteen years ago) link

"CURSE YOU, PUFFY COAT" has got to become some kind of new internet meme

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:06 (fifteen years ago) link

CURE YOU, PUFFY'S GOAT

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:20 (fifteen years ago) link

"Puffy the Magic Goat" was a disappointing sequel to "Puff the Magic Dragon"

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:42 (fifteen years ago) link

ding ding ding

Date of separation, Jan 30. Job not being elimnated but transferred to Asia. His role until then, training those employees.

I'm looking up how much it will cost to add him to my insurance and then we're going for drinks.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:49 (fifteen years ago) link

damn that sucks :(

a country packed with ponies (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Very. My best for you both! Get those drinks!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 23:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Ugh, that does suck. I hope the drinks are good and that he is able to find a better, more awesome job that can't be transferred to Asia.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 01:03 (fifteen years ago) link

u_u

best of luck, susan!

i just had 2 drinks with my sister and her friend and some other people i don't know. it is nice that my sister was here briefly, but i have to say that i'd almost rather have just come home after class than have to go out.

;n_n; (tehresa), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 05:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, next week after our final our next class starts - maternal/child/family health. New prof wants to know what song represents "nursing" to us. (New prof = awesome or the fun kind of crazy?)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 06:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Going to bed, paper not done; it will absorb all of tomorrow and I'll turn it in digitally on Thursday, nearly having a nervous breakdown in the process. Great fun.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 07:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Yay paper!

He had been at Dell for 13 years. So much for loyalty, huh?

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 13:20 (fifteen years ago) link

That sucks. Are they offering him much in terms of payoff? Any retraining, anything?

Ed, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 13:21 (fifteen years ago) link

He got a decent severance package and will get unemployment. But every major computer company has laid off in the past couple of months. It's a tough market and I think since his work experience has been solely with them it might be a drawback. Also he hasn't finished his degree which is now his first order of business.

I'm more worried about him. I've involuntarily lost jobs twice now and it's a real blow to the ego. I can only imagine it's worse for him. :(

And we had just planned a vacation to NOLA after xmas. Boo.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 13:25 (fifteen years ago) link

Susan, I'm so sorry. Is he studying something different for his degree?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 18:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I am ready to set fire to my paper now. I'm nearing the 40 page mark, so plz keep matches away from me.

Half thinking I should just build on it and do NaNoWriMo at this point, too.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:05 (fifteen years ago) link

i do not want to do my homework. i am so tired from work + labor relations (i.e. supervised bickering for 2.5 hours) that i can not begin to think about where to draw bathrooms for 350 people in a theater lobby. ugh.

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 03:36 (fifteen years ago) link

can you please give the women extra cubicles.

estela, Thursday, 13 November 2008 03:44 (fifteen years ago) link

yes. actually the law i think is that you have to have 2 stalls for every 1 men's stall.

;n_n; (tehresa), Thursday, 13 November 2008 03:46 (fifteen years ago) link

tza, your homework is even more puzzling than mine. I have to finish this g.d. paper and turn it in, but I really want to just delete the whole thing and quit the program. These papers always make me feel this way. Not good.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 03:49 (fifteen years ago) link

xpost give the women more than that; some of them are pregnant and they REALLY need to go.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 13 November 2008 03:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Not to mention the women are usually the ones taking the kids to the bathroom...
