I am so excited about Obama. Srsly. I have been excited since I saw him speak on '07 but now it is finally hitting me and I am SO excited. It's been a long time since anything about this world made me hopeful.

I had some awesome pecan pie a bit ago, am drinking lovely wine and waiting for Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings to come on Austin City Limits. Hope your Saturday nights are equally great.

Hello all, I just had tiramisu in St Moritz, this holiday has been awesome. Going the long way back from Venice to Zurich we came over the mountains. Train through the snowy passes, spirals and switchbacks up and down. Sun shining. I am beaming.

Train just did an entire 360 inside a mountain.

You know, if they figure out the Senator from Alaska before the one from Minnesota, I'm going to have to laugh a bit.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 November 2008 14:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Sounds groovy, Ed. TRAIN TRAVEL DESCRIPTION PAGES DR. FREUD. When are you guys back? I'm done redoing my fillum treatment and off to a surprise party. Farmer's Market was excellent yesterday because all of our customers were talking about how happy the election made them. It was my last day and hours later I got a text from F4rm3r Nige1 telling me to look in my bag. In bag, envelope with Xmas bonus!

Still intermittently stopping doing whatever I'm doing to totally headrush over the Obama win. The Coleman/Franken race means I've been wary of calling home since my mom refused to call MN for Obama on speakerphone and chewed me out for voting Franken, who annoyed her long before he was a politician. So I haven't.

i just woke up to a friend freaking out that she may be having an allergic reaction and an email from my sister that is so mean i was in tears. can i start today over?

;n_n; (tehresa), Sunday, 9 November 2008 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

yay maintenance is finally recaulking our showers. i don't know why they were caulked to begin with instead of grouted (just the corners, the tiles are grouted). however, there is also some kind of caulk on the floor that's a mess, and the guy said he would only replace that if someone in the basement complains about water leaking... even though shower water has already clearly damaged the sink cabinet. way to go, crazy dudes.

;n_n; (tehresa), Sunday, 9 November 2008 21:38 (fifteen years ago) link

also whenever landlady and maintenance dude start talking in mandarin it seems to escalate to a fight rather quickly, which somewhat concerns me...

;n_n; (tehresa), Sunday, 9 November 2008 21:38 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm REALLY tired and thus having trouble comprehending your posts, tehresa, but it sounds like you've had a bad day!

Also feeling frustrated that I cannot wave a magic wand and cure people. UNFAIR

Sara R-C, Sunday, 9 November 2008 22:37 (fifteen years ago) link

You should learn Mandarin so you can officiate.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Monday, 10 November 2008 13:49 (fifteen years ago) link

AFAIK mandarin always sounds like an argument about to get violent.

Spritz con Bitter (Ed), Monday, 10 November 2008 14:14 (fifteen years ago) link

ugh is it really monday AGAIN!?

i could do without this day.

;n_n; (tehresa), Monday, 10 November 2008 14:23 (fifteen years ago) link

It's a day that exists to remind us how well the other days can be in comparison.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:30 (fifteen years ago) link

At least on Monday the week is fresh and shiny, full of the hope of productivity. By Wednesday all is smudged, scratched and filled with the despair of reality.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Monday, 10 November 2008 15:33 (fifteen years ago) link

In between is Tuesday, the nexus point of slough.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 10 November 2008 15:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Only four hours of clinical tonight, from 6 to 10, and then I can jump in to writing a billion pages for Thursday. Clinical is going to be the highlight.

my sister (the one who is NOT mad at me!) is on her way up from d.c. for visiting today and tomorrow with her bff, and i am sad because i have to go to class both nights. stupid school.

"stupid school" = painfully OTM

I hope you get to have some fun with your sister and her bff anyway, tza!

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Monday, 10 November 2008 17:39 (fifteen years ago) link

My computer hates me, but it's usually not the other way around. So I'm thinking this is a programmer thing.

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 04:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, school. Blah. But hey, my clinicals are over!!! Now I have to write a million pages, though.

xp I don't even know who that is!!! (plz tell me this is not someone superfamous or something)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 06:44 (fifteen years ago) link

I would totally friend Tom Morello but that's just because of alumni loyalty. Also I tend to blame Zach for most of the suckiness, regardless of whether that's warranted or not.

(Sara: guitarist for popular-when-we-were-in-college beat combo Rage Against The Machine and later Audioslave)

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 15:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Happily, none of RATM has asked to be my friend.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 15:48 (fifteen years ago) link

I hate Tom Morello after that damn Guitar Hero challenge.

But hey, my clinicals are over!!!

Yay! But boo about the million pages.

I'm reading for this final paper I need to write for G's class. SO BORRRINNNG! I did entry-level English 15 years ago. Going through it again is horrible. I expect a very fancy dinner out of this.

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:17 (fifteen years ago) link

bah, can you wander around the fly galleries, explore interesting spaces whilst carrying some important looking papers?

Spritz con Bitter (Ed), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey teh, are you going to be around during whatever show H34th3r Buck is going to be making her Met debut in? She was just in Freischutz up here and she's a lot of fun.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:24 (fifteen years ago) link

hmm, i can't tell what opera she'll be in - it's not listed on the roster or our internal program. is she just covering something?

;n_n; (tehresa), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Possibly... I'll have to look for our program and see what it is she'll be doing.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 16:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Grateful to be awake and at home and NOT wearing scrubs and also now to know who the hell Tom Morello is, thank you all.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow day at work.

Nobody here.

Playing loud evil music.

Tired.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:51 (fifteen years ago) link

stop fronting, we all know you are bumping "Womanizer" today

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know what "Womanizer" is, and thus I may now have a distorted picture of what Ned is doing at work today.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, d3ll had an org-wide mtg this morning about "organizational changes" (read: layoffs) and I have not heard from G since. eek.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 21:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, that is kind of scary. Sending good thoughts your say, Susan.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 21:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah last week they announced "voluntary" severance packages. They were only applicable at a level higher than him but everyone was encouraged to take a week off w/out pay if they didn't take the package.

We've kind of been waiting for the axe to fall any day. It's unusual for him to not e-mail me during the day so I'm not sure if he's busy or at home.

Guess I'll find out soon enough.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:35 (fifteen years ago) link

cant you call?

a country packed with ponies (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:37 (fifteen years ago) link

My phone situation is complicated by extreme dislike of them: currently without cell, his is long-distance so I can't call from work, don't know his work phone and we don't have a home phone. haha, ridiculous huh? Ah well, I'm leaving in a few minutes anyway.

100 Days, 100 Nights (Susan), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:43 (fifteen years ago) link

That really sucks; best of luck to you.

In other ridiculous news, J031 just called me frantic because she thought she'd lost her bank card and her driver's license. Turns out she put them in the pocket of a coat she decided not to wear yesterday. We are now 16 minutes late (and counting) for drinking because of this.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 22:46 (fifteen years ago) link

I hope it all works out, Susan.

Dan, you know that being 16 minutes late for drinking is completely unacceptable. You'll have to make amends to the thread later, my friend.
