my other son is a zamboni (gbx), Friday, 24 October 2008 21:58 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah, im not surprised with him, but who are these other random nutjobs joinging into the chorus of "yes let us get to the bottom of this"

SANJAY BLOGDAI SANJAY (John Justen), Friday, 24 October 2008 22:04 (fifteen years ago) link

it is a mystery how shall we ever solve it

my other son is a zamboni (gbx), Friday, 24 October 2008 23:08 (fifteen years ago) link

I will give you a hint, John; they are called "ILM posters".

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Friday, 24 October 2008 23:15 (fifteen years ago) link

yah true

hi dere

SANJAY BLOGDAI SANJAY (John Justen), Saturday, 25 October 2008 18:35 (fifteen years ago) link

what ever happened to the vaguely rumored remy mn maybe someday visit?

SANJAY BLOGDAI SANJAY (John Justen), Saturday, 25 October 2008 18:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Hi remy!
NYC visit also requested!
I has cmj hangover ugh.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Saturday, 25 October 2008 18:41 (fifteen years ago) link

vaguely rumored mn/nyc visit stalled by unintentional promotion + recent acquisition of gf (see also: why i'm hardly on ilx)

remy bean, Saturday, 25 October 2008 20:01 (fifteen years ago) link

That thread is the first encounter I've had with Geir. I've never been an ILM reader. I did not post, but, wow. How has he ever survived on ilx?

I have my own laptop back. The LCD was cracked and G replaced it. He is my hero. And the Horns are on, defending their #1 spot. yay.

just carved pumpkins while getting drunk and then dressed my cat up in a monkey costume. pictures forthcoming.

SANJAY BLOGDAI SANJAY (John Justen), Sunday, 26 October 2008 00:29 (fifteen years ago) link

I am nearly in a coma from clinical, but had a good day. Except for the whole "large stretch of 35W is closed, so good fucking luck getting to the hospital" thing. If it weren't for cell phones, I would have driven around the Cities haplessly all day. (Note to self: buy a map.)

Taking 35E up tomorrow.

John, I look forward to seeing those photos. And I desperately wish that your cat could talk.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 26 October 2008 01:14 (fifteen years ago) link

so do i.

i think i might have posted this before, the woman who looks after our dog when we go away once said to me, 'the day the pets can talk is the day i go out of the pet minding business.' !!!<3

estela, Sunday, 26 October 2008 01:25 (fifteen years ago) link

i went to the opera tonight! it was lovely! we got dressed up! after we went to this rooftop hotel bar that was really weird and scary, so then we ended up at this other bar we'd been to a few times bc it is close to train, but this time was full of gross drunk people making out. then we ended up taking cabs home.

anyway, it is so nice to dress up and go to the opera! i should do this more often! especially since i work there... can't wait to have my life back in 8 months (almost like i'm waiting to pop out a baby!).

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 26 October 2008 06:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Clinicals! I know you will rock Sara - because...you're approaching this FROM birth and parenting, so you already know about A LOT of biological functions, being as you have been there.
I also feel (having five friends enter nursing later in life) that nursing - and all medical careers - are a CHOICE. SO...
yeah, it's a good field for you economically, but you are going to be the best in your field because you already love your field.

I saw a bumper sticker today:
"Bedside Nurses = Less Patients"

It was so weird, because it's obviousaly for less patient overload ONTO nurses.
But it has some creepy over and undertones!
Not the best message for the stressed nurses to be putting on their bumpers!

Well, if things don't go my way come 11/4 I will be curled up in a fetal position in my closet for...awhile.
But since that is not going to happen! I will be thinking of you ...because you probably have finals two weeks after Thanksgiving.
Just remember...you are doing this so you can help save lives, and make people comfortable, and give your gifts to the world.

But,yeah, you should stress out right now:)

Alison (aimurchie), Sunday, 26 October 2008 09:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Alison, I slept badly last night (stress and schedule being thoroughly messed up by the clinical schedule). Then I stopped by here to just see what people did last night and found your SUPER INSPIRING message, and now you are my hero of the day. THANK YOU!

And yeah - it sounds like "bedside nurses will KILL your patients in order to get less of them" or something. Yikes! Weird bumper sticker.

ps tehresa, I like your analogy, but once you pop a baby out, you never really get your life back. Not that you even want that life anymore, mostly, but I'm just saying!!!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Monday, 27 October 2008 00:55 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm allergic to vicodin. ;_;

But hoping Sunny is pain-free soon. And that someone, somewhere regrets not giving her some decent meds before this.

Sara R-C, Monday, 27 October 2008 04:13 (fifteen years ago) link

I am not pleased that PP and Sunny have had to deal with hospitals so much. :-/

My work hell this morning: Trying to explain the difference between "hits" and "page views" to the ad department and why the numbers they are selling are insanely inflated and deceptive.

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Monday, 27 October 2008 14:25 (fifteen years ago) link

i just remembered my boss is out of town today and tomorrow! wooh!
susan, your ad department sucks. there is no reason they should not understand this.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Monday, 27 October 2008 14:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Ad people are all about money and any way they can make more. Integrity usually falls by the way side.

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Monday, 27 October 2008 14:38 (fifteen years ago) link

grr fuck work

The gigolo's lament.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 27 October 2008 14:48 (fifteen years ago) link

xp YIKES to the 10 on the pain scale! Seriously, Sunny, I would fire your old doctor, too. At least in nursing school, we are taught to pay attention to people's pain and TREAT IT.

Sara R-C, Monday, 27 October 2008 14:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara, we should have made up a bunch of stuff about futurism for you to talk about on the politics thread.

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Monday, 27 October 2008 15:12 (fifteen years ago) link

I know. I'm just too exhausted and buried in ridiculous paper-writing to have fun anymore. ;_;

Sara R-C, Monday, 27 October 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Plus you'd have made up way better stuff than me. I would have been all, "and then we will all live on MARS!!!"

Sara R-C, Monday, 27 October 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link

hahahahahahahaha dan has been trapped by geir now on that thread

Today, I'm wearing tall boots, tights, a jacket and a scarf! This is awesome.

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, that does sound awesome!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

I am excited just to not be wearing the same scrub uniform I've had to wear for the past five days. (thank god I bought more than one, as the laundry would have become overwhelming just from that...)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:36 (fifteen years ago) link

what kind of shoes do you sport with your scrubs?

A socialist who's happy to spread the wealth (Susan), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Ugly white nursing shoes. I didn't have time to shop around, so I basically bought the first pair that fit. They are hideous!

Required white scrub pants = also v. ugly. Also, one of my pairs has a waist tie that I can never untie, thus I am at risk for never being able to pee if I put those on. (I have basically decided to never wear that pair again.)

Scrub top = royal blue, so at least that's okay.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 17:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Isn't there a fluffy bear hearts and rainbows scrub top?

Alison (aimurchie), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 03:36 (fifteen years ago) link

i have just finished my homeowrk for the day at 11:59. i love that. getting shit done just under the midnight line!

i am so frustrated because i just spent an hour and a half fixing crap for a group project. these projects annoy me because one of the members did not get me her stuff til this afternoon and now we are trying to finalize last minute. also, her stuff was really hastily thrown together and lazy in content. grr.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Wednesday, 29 October 2008 04:01 (fifteen years ago) link
