I now has a student loan at prime +1% clearly citbank have not learnt from their free spending ways.

nice!

man. when i was applying, my adviser told me graduates of this program generally had good jobs by the point i'm at now, and that when they graduated, they were making enough money to pay off student loans quickly (or at least not struggle to make loan payments). this is not the case now. stupid economy. i know it's not her fault, but i feel cheated.

Y Sunny have hurt ear? :-(

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 October 2008 16:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Oooh good question. For some reason I thought that Sunny was just reacting to your crazy photo, Ned.

Sunny - do you have an ear infection? Cuz those are THE WORST!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 17:14 (fifteen years ago) link

oooh yeah they are horrible! sorry, sunny :(

oh sweet codiene wherefore art thou?

DC Purrman (sunny successor), Thursday, 23 October 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Did they give you antibiotics for it or are they making you try to wait it out? I had ear infections secondary to influenza when I was pregnant with my son and OMG THEY HURT. They did give me antibiotics, though.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 18:22 (fifteen years ago) link

jordan has had a weird ear-thing for a couple of weeks now. he says it's a pain inside his ear, going down to his jaw. it's been driving him crazy but of course he won't go see a dr.

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Thursday, 23 October 2008 18:36 (fifteen years ago) link

Huh. Could be an ear infection. Is it getting worse? A lot of time MDs will just try to have you wait it out without antibiotics anyway. (I really have mixed feelings about this although I understand their reasoning...)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:13 (fifteen years ago) link

no... it sort of disappeared and then came back, and now i think it's gone again. the way he described it didn't really sound like an ear infection.

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, I don't know. Sounds weird. But I would probably go to the doctor, because sometimes you can have infections elsewhere and the pain refers to odd spots (like your jaw). Could it be a toothache kind of thing? Or maybe an absess in a tooth that needs a root canal...?

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:33 (fifteen years ago) link

he has a dentist apptmt at the end of this month, so i'll guess we'll find out...

undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Assuming valid numbers, then dang:

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., left Indianapolis earlier this morning, bound for Hawaii to visit his ailing grandmother.

...

Looking out at a sea of 35,000 people who crammed a downtown park on a chilly day, the Democratic presidential candidate noted blue-collar and manufacturing workers in the audience who waited hours to see him.

Just thinking about how McCain drew about 2500 people near St. Louis on Monday in comparison re: weekday rallies.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 October 2008 20:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Hahah, sorry folks, this was for ILE. But you can talk about it here too!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 October 2008 20:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I am really having a hard time not totally falling in love with Barack Obama you guys.

And also, I love that about Indiana being close. REALLY love it, since I spent a dreadful year in Indiana.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 23 October 2008 20:27 (fifteen years ago) link

i got antibiotics for it but the pain has kicked into high gear today. its completely unbearable at times. much like that ridiculous W movie i just lost 2 hours of my life on. :(:(:(:(L:(L(OL(LOQWIHREGigbwPFUIETg `qrp;

DC Purrman (sunny successor), Thursday, 23 October 2008 21:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Unfun. Bad ear infections are the worst. Hope it clears up soon!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 October 2008 21:36 (fifteen years ago) link

ruby, tell jordan to be careful! i once had that weird jaw pain and thought it was something else and then ended up in the emergency room w/ the worst infection ever.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 24 October 2008 03:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Srsly, if something hurts and gets worse, get it checked out by a doctor. Ounce of prevention, pound of cure; you all know the drill.

As for the W movie, I just can't fathom even thinking about going. I'll be damned if I spend one cent to watch a movie I've watched for 8 miserable years. If I want to get annoyed, I can just watch the dude bumble around on the news.

Sara R-C, Friday, 24 October 2008 03:45 (fifteen years ago) link

i would be all about preventive medicine if i had health insurance. obama, plz to win now.

i see your point, sara, but i rly rly want to see it!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 24 October 2008 05:24 (fifteen years ago) link

xpost, Sara, haha re: W.

I feel like total shit today. For a variety of reasons. I want to crawl back in bed. And it was cold this morning for the first time in TX. See your breath cold. Made me realize I have next to no sweaters (perhaps in a box in the garage?) and I need a new winter coat. This weekend, to the mall!

I'm also having a hard time not falling in love with Obama. It would be a sad thing b/c if he does win I'm sure his rock star shine will wear off once the hard reality of fixing this country sinks in.

Actually (assuming a victory, of course) that's what I'm looking forward to the most! Not in the sense that it'll be a slam dunk, more in the sense that I'd rather have a crew of deep thinkers who are also skillful politicans dealing with things for a while instead of frickin' goofs.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 24 October 2008 14:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I just know he's going to be slammed with criticism b/c the tasks ahead are not easy and it will be awhile before change actually happens. I just can't imagine wanting the job he might be walking into.

he's defintiely walking into a crapstorm. i think he will remain composed, but i worry about the right wingers going "SEE HE COULDN'T DO IT! WE TOLD YOU!" in 2 months when the whole world isn't perfect yet.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 24 October 2008 15:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, the right wingers might say that, but I suspect that most non-crazy people realize that this mess is going to take longer than two months to get out of.

I'm sure I'll see "W" someday; I just can't stomach the idea of seeing it right now. Way, way too soon.

Everyone has to get better and not be sick anymore on this thread! I am sad to think of any of you being ill. So STOP IT RIGHT NOW!

Sunny, I'm so sorry you're still in so much pain. That sucks.

I'll be spending this entire weekend at the hospital, so everyone here is charged with having fun and relaxing for me. (Well, unless you're sick/in pain, in which case, I will accept that excuse).

That thread is the first encounter I've had with Geir. I've never been an ILM reader. I did not post, but, wow. How has he ever survived on ilx?

I have my own laptop back. The LCD was cracked and G replaced it. He is my hero. And the Horns are on, defending their #1 spot. yay.

I am nearly in a coma from clinical, but had a good day. Except for the whole "large stretch of 35W is closed, so good fucking luck getting to the hospital" thing. If it weren't for cell phones, I would have driven around the Cities haplessly all day. (Note to self: buy a map.)

Taking 35E up tomorrow.

John, I look forward to seeing those photos. And I desperately wish that your cat could talk.
